Your technique and musicality are exquisite! The feeling of the song comes through your hands and I receive the message. The dynamics and emotion touch me as a person and an older musician. Thank you!
That was clean. Also he played without a pick and still managed to produce a perfect rendering of the original which is played with a combination of fingers and a pick
Oh WOW!! You got talent Nik!!! My absolute TE fav and I know how hard it is to play this piece. But your version sounds absolute worldclass. One of the best version I ever found on YT!! Congrats my friend!! Hugs, Jimmy
Way to crush it there Nick. Tommy must be very proud of your fine technique, especially your buttery, soft tone, the lovely voice of your GS Mini Koa and your highly skilled musicianship. Keep playing man and as soon as possible, start writing your own tunes, like Tommy does.
Hey Nik! Awesome stuff! Did you do any adjustments to the GS Mini to get a deeper tone or is this in the recording production? Most other demos i've heard are very bright!
Hey! I recorded using 1 condenser mic.. then post production I added a touch of reverb and tweaked the EQ (though I actually brought the high end up a little!)
Great cover!!! really captures the warmth of the song. Can i ask what mic you're using to record your gs mini cause i have a my gs mini too and want to record with it.
man that is an awesome sound! still recorded with ur44 and nt1a? that sounds like its being amped up to a AER compact 60 watt im guessing ROOM ACOUSTICS play huge part?
Yep, still recorded with ur44 and nt1a, and mixed in Ableton 10. Having a really quiet space with minimal background noise is the most important feature in a room, imo, as you can modulate the sound as much or as little as you want post recording. Having a decent quality condenser mic is key also (or preferably two mics for a nice stereo recording, but I currently only have 1)
@@codking82 I use studio monitors, studio headphones, and laptop speakers - and go between all three to try and get the best sound that works optimally across all listening scenarios!
That was awesome bro ... I am a beginner on guitar ... would u recommend GS mini Koa to learn on? They came out with a “plus” model for 2020 that supposedly has upgraded electronics ... do u know anything this? Thanks!
Hey! It's a pricey guitar for a beginner, but if you've got the budget why not! I would say the GS mini is not suitable for people with big hands though... better suited to those with smaller frames imo. Otherwise yeah, it's a very playable guitar. I don't pay much attention to the electronics, so can't advise on that.
I was thinking about getting a GS mini but now that you mentioned the big hand problem (big thank you for that!) , I will rather stick to a full sized guitar since I have big hands and it sometimes already makes things harder on my regular model.
Ace, I was blown away by the playability of this model, hopefully you will be too. I'm not plugged in - I recorded acoustically with a rhodes nt1a condenser mic
Cool! I've been playing it round for about 6 months - I found it quite challenging to learn, especially the hammer ons / pull off with the bar chords! But tried to play it most days for a bit and it gradually came together.
This Taylor sounds amazing, great sound. Wish they put better pickup system, but acoustically, so good. You did very good job, melody really speaks out, very important thing. And it's not easy to play T.E. songs. Keep up with good work. Thank you!
You deserve a commission for every Taylor GS Mini Koa this video sold
Haha! I wouldn't disagree!
You've inspired me to hold myself to a higher standard of guitar playing
that must be so satisfying to play a piece like that. FANTASTIC
The sapwood in the center is literally incredible. Such a beautiful tonewood. Oh and phenomenal cover haha. flawless

any wisdom you can share on how you get this sound would be awesome

@@NikDaviesGuitar what version of abelton do you use?

Did you record the audio and video seperately ?
yeah!
Did you set up the guitar when you got it new? Or is it factory settings? Thanks
These are factory settings
Nice job, i just ordered a GS mini E Koa, can't wait to test it, were you plugged?
Ace, I was blown away by the playability of this model, hopefully you will be too. I'm not plugged in - I recorded acoustically with a rhodes nt1a condenser mic
Beautifully player! What did you use to capture the sound? Any microphone?
Thanks :) You can't see it here, but I used a Rhodes NT1A to record the sound :)
@@NikDaviesGuitar thank for the info!
What did you use to record the audio? Great playing!
Thanks! I just used a Rhodes nt1a condenser mic, tweaked the EQ and added touch of reverb post production
What string gaunge on your guitar? 13s?
13s yeah!
What did you record this with???? Its sooooo good
I used a Rhodes nt1a condenser mic and tweaked the EQ and added a touch of reverb :)
What string gauge are you using

LOVE your cover, sounds pretty. Which strings do you use on your gs mini?
Thank you :) They are Elixir 13s
Great cover well done! which strings do you use one this guitar? Sound is incredible.

Amazing! Do you have the tabs?
I don't, but there are lots of free tab versions for this online..

For a loong time! Since I was about 8 :)

Was this plugged in through pre aml while recorded?
No, I'm using condenser mics
