    What puts John on a whole different level is he can perfectly sing along with these extremely complex fingerstyle songs. I cannot begin to comprehend this mans talent. My favourite guitarist and singer.

      Clapton says he's a genius and doesn't really know how damn good he is. Listen to the interview he gave from Central Park about his first-ever concert there. He was a kid.

    Two years later, Paul releases a vid to say how wrong he was in his understanding/playing NEON. I love the re-addressing of his own work and continued improvement. It's a great example for all us inspirering guitarists. Eternal thanks Paul. here's the link to his new NEON vid.

    (never heard it). Well, it simply HAS to be the saddest, or perhaps, most sentimental Song ever written. & most complicated Fingerpicking ever played. (& that Collings Guitar is simply Dreamy! ). Actually I never thought I liked John Mayer until I started really listening to his Guitar playing - wow. was I ever wrong! lol

    What do you think is the best song to practice the slapping and strumming technique? It's the only thing that's holding me back from playing songs I want.

    • @michaelemily

      Fenrir start with "who says" its got pretty easy chord shapes and uses this technique

    • @adityashrestha7691
      @adityashrestha7691 7 лет назад +1

      Fenrir u just avoid using picks and in time, your fingers will probably improvise

    • @QueenEvee15647
      @QueenEvee15647 7 лет назад +1

      Fenrir I started of doing that with Heart of Life by John Mayer. It's got only two picking patterns the whole songs and only thumb slaps on one specific string so it's pretty good for starters. Once you get the technique down its pretty easy.

    Great video! One question... what method do you use to learn these songs? The articulation is so accurate, is this from notation, tabs, aural skills, videos or a combination. Feel free to respond here, or even better as a video on how to go about learning songs. Thanks for making these videos, they are exquisite. ❤️🎸

    watching stuff like this and realizing you are far from becoming a good guitarist

    • @JBrewfromthepew82
      @JBrewfromthepew82 8 лет назад +26

      I agree. I always thought myself an at least fairly decent guitar player, and then you see/listen to people play songs like this that are some of my favorites (and then go home and try to learn them, even with tabs) and realize I can't even make it sound recognizable let alone fluid and smooth.

    • @ikeerc7

      Jeremy Brewer i know! it sucks. I guess we have to keep practicing if we want to actually call ourselves guitarists

    • @joshfaye3300
      @joshfaye3300 7 лет назад

      Jeremy Brewer if you couldn't even make it sound recognizable then... well, kind of sad no offense. But I'm at the stage where I learned stairway to Heaven and could play in fluently in 20 mins.. but with these it would take me like a week to get it down. I'm moderate
