  • Watch Spitfire Audio co-founder Paul Thomson, as he takes you through the latest update of Spitfire Symphony Orchestra. This update (free to existing users) features a Solo Trumpet Total Performance patch and a Solo Flute Total Performance patch. Easy to play and ultra-intuitive, these instruments allow you to focus entirely on your composition, without the need to ‘stitch’ together performances.
    Agile and intuitive, the updated Total Performance technology allows you to crossfade between the dynamic and vibrato, and gives you more detailed control over your performance. We’ve included a new play guide view to help you better understand the attack and overall functionality of the patch update.

    The Play Guide and the visual feedback it provides is one of the best executed GUI layouts I’ve seen for knowing where you stand and making sure you’re using all the breadth of options to sculpt a humanistic performance. I would love to see this GUI for the Chamber and Symphonic strings too, as their Performance Legato took away the semi Play Guide we had with Legato Performance. Additionally this would be great for BBCSO and Abbey Road going forward. Thanks!

    I use BBCSO pro as my main but sometimes supplement with SpitfureSymph.

  • @DennisCaunce
    @DennisCaunce Год назад +1

    For everyone asking for this to be added to BBCSO, this effect is fairly easy to achieve. I'm using logic, but I'm sure other DAW's have the same features. Create a summing track with two versions of the same instrument. Flute has the enhanced legato already so I create one layer with flutter and the other with legato. Then, set up a fader to control CC11. On the flutter I use a modifier to go from 0% to -100%, with the second fader set to +126. This effectively reverses the fader direction, so the instrument fades from legato to flutter. If the instrument doesn't have the enhanced legato, just add a staccato layer to the legato. Not perfect, but it does the job!

    • @renocap3602
      @renocap3602 Год назад +1

      The legato in BBCSO isn't the same unfortunately, its not Total Performance, its just legato with an attack :(

    • @DennisCaunce
      @DennisCaunce Год назад

      @@renocap3602 I think it's a little more than just legato with attack. If it isn't, then it's good enough to fool these old ears! ;-)

    • @DennisCaunce
      @DennisCaunce Год назад

      @@renocap3602 from the user manual: If you see the ‘Legato (extended)’ techniques available in anything other than Strings,
      this means that the patch will have playable ‘short’ notes built in which respond to the way you play. If you play a short snappy
      note on your keyboard, a short note will trigger. The Strings have this programmed automatically, even without the (extended) tag.
      As well as this, the extended patches
      also often have another type of transition featured. For example, the Flute Legato (extended) technique will have playable runs recorded, which will trigger based on the speed of playing.

    • @renocap3602
      @renocap3602 Год назад

      @@DennisCaunce nope have BBCSO and its just legato with attacks. They would call them the same if they were I'd have thought. Definitely nothing on these levels so not easy to achieve anything like this so would love this in BBCSO too.

    I dream that Spitfire improve more existing library. They are allready lot of library in your Shop. Okey to pay a small fee if needed.
    Bbcso first in the line. That was your One orchestra
    Making the Sample attaque latency more consistent between all articulations.
    Adding Ensemble patch. Divisi?
    And please more dynamic layer on Brass. I know it‘s symphonic Library and with the previous Update it was improvement.
    But the brass are still weak.

    We need this for BBCSO. The performance legato is okay in the strings, but starts to falter in the other sections (especially brass). Even the woods though are nowhere near as agile as this. As somebody said, good for lyrical lines but not at all for fast arpeggios, runs etc. In some brass instruments, such as the trombone, even the standard legato sounds kinda broken. Please, consider doing a similar update for BBCSO. Thank you. Lastly, it would be great being able to select which mic signals one wants to download. the 600GB footprint is a bit much for many who really only need to use a fraction of the mics available.

    • @Justin.Franks
      @Justin.Franks Год назад +1

      Symphonic Strings already has similar patches (called "Performance Legato") that automatically switches between shorts and longs, and different types of legato, based on how you play. Not quite as "fancy" as these new Total Performance legatos, but still quite good IMO. And Spitfire seems to be focusing on solo instruments for now, which Symphonic Strings does not include (there are leader mics in the Pro version, but no patches with just a soloist). Likely because that is what they were able to record during the COVID restrictions in the UK).
      So I would venture to guess that in addition to the solo flute and solo trumpet, we will soon be seeing Total Performance patches for the most commonly-used / most important solo brass and woodwind instruments - solo oboe, solo clarinet, solo horn, and solo tenor bone.
