Most CB folks have gone to GMRS radios offering repeaters. My GMRS mobile in the truck puts out 40watts vs my Cobra 29 at 4watts and on the CB for the past decade, I never found anyone to talk to. I started CB with a 4 channel Johnson Whiteface radio in 1964.
Yes. I've been on the CB since 1970. Today after work on 38LSB l talked from Minnesota to Trinidad. Over 3,000 miles. My antenna is a A99, radio is a Realistic Navaho TRC-490 with a Realistic power mic.
My friends and I still use em. I hear locals when I’m driving through the south. And we have a handful of locals where I live in Ohio still on the air.
I’m a trucker of 32 years an yes Cb is still alive. I run an 10/11 meter radio in my semi n pickup truck. I talk DX skip from Pennsylvania to Europe every morning. Talked to Texas from Pennsylvania an to the Cayman Islands. Cb is alive. If you run a Cb an say it’s dead. Maybe you need to get your radio worked on an your antenna tuned in. 👍
We need more side band Radio what on the market has problem they drift in FRQ on sideband they don't build good radio like the Cobra 2000 GTL it ten times better when those 10 meter radio needs to be moved but they drift in FRQ
Yes. I have been on CB since the 70's. Added GMRS. And finally got my General License for HAM. I enjoy everything radio.
Love my CB, on it all the time in my Civic. Do get some funny looks with a 6ft tall antenna on my car. Usually on CH36LSB

Bring your rig out west here and enjoy the silence. Edit: to be clear I'm talking about local traffic on the standard 40 AM channels
