Awesome video thank you so much for sharing this! Considering the low current draw of this module I wonder if the 8v available via the G90's DIN connector knocked down perhaps with something as simple as a couple of diodes would be enough to handle the power requirements? Have you informed the developer of your findings? I also wonder if there is a way to fold in digital modes so they have cat control as well?
Good start, I have downloaded the free program for starters, any chance of a wiring diagram with the connections at the G90 and through to the HC-06 Module (ordered a module). Hand drawn would be fine 😉 thanks, 73 Bob VK3CDE
Dale if you come up with an assembled Bluetooth module for the G90 I'll buy 2 of them. And I'll bet they'll sell like"Hotcakes" as we Yanks say. Again great video. 73's
Great video. Thanks. I've made mine. However I'm probably missing something. While my hc5 transfers data both ways between android hc05 terminal app and rasp pi, it only sets g90 but will not read vfo change on radio. On cable 2ways read and set work. Any idea or similar experience?
The cable itself is just a stereo 3.5mm to 3.5mm. The socket connected to the breadboard is something I made as I use breadboards quite often for protoyping interfaces that I design or build.
@@dalerobinsuk ah yes..well, i have bt unit plugged into earphone jack for Bluetooth headset maybe I'll change it to the input jack and run the app and see if I can connect
Very fine business.Endless possibilities with these rigs and am amazed there hasn't been more buzz during isolation.Thank you sir.73's

Great information Dale thanks for the tip. Can you recommend a preconfigured Bluetooth dongle with links?

Great video Dale! Thanks! Any progress/updates?
hi, great video anyway.. do you have the diagram? i need to know which TRS need to connect to which HC06 terminals
DId you change baud rate of BT dongle? Did you change any settings in G90? Looks like default baud rate of HC-06 is 9600.
I even reversed rx/tx from 3.5mm cable and still nothing. pocketRxTx connects to HC-06 but no control of G90 in 2.0test and 1.0 versions
I wonder if the HC-06 work interface between the G90 and tablet for WinLink also as an email client?

Nice video thanks ! I would like to know metter about the connections between the interface and the xiegu g90. thank you
Is the tablet software a beta version from Xiegu or did you write it? Is it available on Github or somewhere?
It's called Pocket RxTx and it's on the Google Play Store.

It's not really BLUETOOTH connectivity though, is it? It's just RS-232 over a bluetooth carrier.
stereo cable to CAT input.. home made? Purchase on ebay/amazon? Maybe other BT units can plug into this cable and off to the races..?

@@dalerobinsuk what is cabel from BT to G90.. 3.5mm sero at BT side, then special wiring at G90 side to plug into QI port? or just I/O port
@@werkiek 3.5mm in to G90, it goes in to the side of the front panel.

@@werkiek That sounds like a Bluetooth audio adapter, you need a Bluetooth Serial/Uart adapter for this.
H! Nice work! Are there levels of RxD TxD on the Xiegu G90 is 3,3V or 5? I know, that ZS-040 levels is 3,3V. How it works? :)))
Hi, the G90 is 3V3 :)
I don't see any reason why the HC05 can't be used. It is meant to be a master whilst the HC06 can only be a slave.
Dale, do you have any resistors in the TX and RX circuitry of the HC-06? Can you email me? WD0DUD address on QRZ is good.
Hi Garry, no resistors on the HC-06, both the G90 and the HC-06 use TTL 3V3 voltage levels.
