In Thailand, these things do not exist because the government and the Ministry of Public Health strictly control them. Anyone who does this is breaking the law and faces the death penalty. However, in underdeveloped countries like Burma, Laos, and Cambodia, they can do this because the communist governments are not strict about these things. In Laos, there is a lot of illegal liquor that does not meet international standards because the villagers brew and drink it themselves. Therefore, drinking illegal liquor can be dangerous and even fatal. You have to be careful because it is not up to international standards and has not been certified by the Lao Ministry of Health. The Lao government does not conduct any research or issue the highest penalty as same as another country, they would strictly prohibit production because it lacks standards. And another thing, if there is anything bad about this country, the Lao communist government will forbid all media in Laos from reporting the news. If anyone reports the news, that person will be arrested and killed, or imprisoned until they are forgotten. And ordinary Lao people are also prohibited from criticizing their own government or making positive comments about things. But Lao people can criticize people from other countries.
If you drink any big brands like bud light or something and you wake up the next day with the back of your head throbbing down your neck then you drank some bootleg tainted beer.
I worked in Thailand twenty years ago and several times had to take a day off after drinking two or three strong Beer Changs. I felt ashamed and cut down, but after a while I realised that the effects seemed to vary from bottle to bottle, and I could have a terrible hangover after just one bottle.
They fixed that, Beer Chang is good now. But yes I remember the same thing years ago it was like drinking home brew, you never knew how messed up you were going to get
@testicool013 the good news is that Beerlao is also excellent. I was in the incident location Vang Vieng 18 months during lockdown and I feel bad for some of the business owners. But the party scene was ugly. The very same place hit the headlines a while back for drownings.
