Firstly, the playing is stellar, really beautiful. I prefer the eriza Verde, sounds more vocal with better clarity to my ears. Love the bonnie pink color. Both great guitars. Wish they made in translucent purple
@@wallclock4648 The Pink one, but only for the color. If I went back and bought it again I would probably go for the 24-08 for the fact that the toggle switches are separate from the tone pot which I just prefer
These are such amazing instruments for the price! I received my 24-08 last week from Sweetwater and it rivals my core PRS model in every way and then some!! I’ve several different PRS SE’s and none of them disappoint, but this one is really special with the pickup switching system. I may buy the “Bonnie pink”/version here and the Zack Myers (blue)model too and that will complete my SE collection. These really are some of the best guitars being made... PERIOD! Best ✌🏼
I'm own a mix of Core and SE and love them all. You should check out AIO guitars if you are considering a single cut. These are great value (super low prices and good specs)
@Stelios Stylios man I love it. The neck feels great. The tone is great. If you’ve never owned a prs, I suggest you get one. They live up to the hype in my opinion. The pink is not too bright either, I had a couple people thought it was red.
They sound about the same, not a huge difference. The question is, is it worth it to get the extra split-coil options in the 2408. It's kind of a toss-up to me. I like the option and it sounds convincing, but I almost feel like just playing a SSS if I want the single-coil sounds. I guess if you don't have that option this is perfect. One guitar to rule all tones 😝 That green is so nice though...
May I ask why your demonstration doesn't include the "split" coil sounds of the Custom 24 (activated by pulling up on the Tone control nob)? I'm particularly interested in hearing how the neck pickups of each guitar compare in their split modes.
The 24-08 doesn't have the tone knob switch, it uses separate switches that switch out the second coil instead of just grounding it out. Heard it keeps the dead coil from adding capacitance and you get a true single coil sound without the volume drop being as bad
@@Tamadrummer708 um no. SE Custom run the 85/15 s pickups and then the 24-08 has the newer 85/15 tci tuned pickups. So yes it will sound a little different. TCI seem to be chimier
I own both. They DO sound slightly different from each other. The main difference is that the Custom 24 has a little boost in the upper treble, and a little dip in the upper midrange. In comparison, this makes high notes on the 24-08 sound a bit rounder and thicker. This is especially noticable in the coil split modes. (However, if you roll back the tone knob on the 24, they sound VERY similar.) Also, there's less of a volume loss when coil splitting the 24-08.
I got the green because they didn't have the Sunburst! I love the guitar, only played it through my Vibro Champ, haven't taken it out or used a big amp, lots of tones. I'd wish they had seperate tone pots for each pickup like a LP.
@@narq5099 i love the greenburst now. The guitar itself is pretty darn good, only issue really is the nut, too low on top strings, grooves top thin and deep, little buzz and hang up, can you believe i cannot find a pencil in a market for lubricating! Weird times
So the conclusion I've come to is get the cheaper se custom 24 and throw in SD jazz and JB and you'll have much better sound than the 24-08 for almost the same cost, lol.
What you're listening to will certainly make a difference. Listening on headphones, there's a noted difference. The 24-08 seems a little more "bassy" in this recording. But, I wouldn't say they're worlds apart from one another. They both sounds terrific. Having a talented guitarist and playing through a Bogner will probably make a $200 guitar sound great.
I'm listening through a dedicated hifi sound card and $400 headphones. Aside from the coil splits, they sound so similar that any perceived difference is just as likely coming from the player. (No two "takes" are ever EXACTLY the same...)
I have since acquired both of these guitars, and can verify tbat there is a subtle difference in the upper midrange (scooped on the 24) and the upper treble (boosted on the 24) that makes the Custom 24 sound "spikier" in direct comparison. The 24-08 has softer treble and more prominent upper midrange.
Thank you so much for this video. The TCI-S pickups seem to fall apart on the bottom end. I just picked up a 24-08 recently and have been wondering if it's my amp, or the guitar, or the combination. All my other guitars sound great through the amp, though, so I had my doubts. Now I feel it's confirmed it's the TCI-S pickups. Now I need to decide whether to find a used set of 85/15-Ss or JB Jazz combo, or spend the big bucks on a used set of 85/15s.
Honestly, imo, the Core 85/15 aren't worth it. There's a slight difference but it's pretty damn close. I'd go with some other pickups. No point in spending $500 for similar pickups. I did that and regretted it.
Which is better? The SE Custom 24 or the SE Custom 24-08? I'm in the market to buy a PRS SE (800 to 1000 dollar range) but I don't know which to go with.
Me too, I'm still thinking about buying se custom 24-08 or Fender American performer but still can't decide it haha but prs se series now make it Indonesia do you think it is good?
Could also just be the pickups like here atm the bonnie pink se 24 custom is on sale for £500 and if I got that and say got high end pickups costing £200 it’s still £200 cheaper than the 24-08
In anyone's opinion, is there a compelling reason to get a Core Custom 24-08 instead of a CE 24-08? Is having a set neck and solid body that big of a deal? On the Core you can split the pups and not just tap them I believe.
@@MOAB-UT I think they put them on Core models, then on SE and now they are completing their range and put -08 on S2 model in 2022. Seems to me it's just a matter of time to get a CE Custom 24-08
Pretty sure both are set neck and solid body, but the core may be a one piece body instead of multiple pieces of mahogany. The SE also has a flamed maple Veneer and maple cap instead of a flamed maple top like the core does. Plus the core, pretty sure, has a veneer on the headstock. Plus the core is a USA model compared to the SE which is (I think) a Korean model.
I had that pink one. Dreamed about it for three weeks and had to have it. Finally got it and although gorgeous, I didn't like it, traded it for a Highway One Telecaster. I love that thing. Thats the 2nd PRS I had but got rid of because I just didnt feel any Mojo. I may try again with an S2 or Core
