- BEST Wide Angle Zoom for Sony? Sigma 16-28 f/2.8 DGDN Contemporary
Sorry I didn't show AF examples. I cut it for length but there's really not much to see. It works well and it's quiet.
I didn't do a heavy-handed color grade on the main talking head shot to give a neutral impression of how the lens looks.
I purchased this lens and all thoughts are mine mine mine.

Is 16-35 f/2.8 worth it? Or is 16-28 a decent compromise?
I bought a used tamron 17-28 for $500, then got a black Friday sale on a rokinon 14mm f2.8 to cover the ultra wide.
I've never used a 14mm on a full frame before. I guess the Loawa 7.5mm for M43 is the widest field of view lens I've used. The Tamron is a good lens for sure. I like how Tamron and Sigma are giving us value alternatives to the traditional zoom ranges
A wide angle lens for broll is great for establishing shots!! I almost always use them to get wides of buildings, streets, or people walking into a space all the time. I work at a video production company and I use our 16-35 gmaster A TON. I filmed a ribbon cutting ceremony entirely on it since you get your nice 16mm wide shots and can zoom in and get that compressed background with the 35mm and portraits. I've been looking for a cheaper alternative for my own work and this seems to be a great option! Thanks for the video!!!
Wow! You covered this sooo well. Really first class video. For the realestate videos, do you shoot one of the standard profiles? Just curious.
Thanks, Mark. Really appreciate it. I shot PP Off (no picture profile) those real estate vids. But if it were me doing it for myself, I’d shoot Slog 3 all day
What do you think about using a Sigma 50-100 mm 1.8 on a fx30?
I think that would be amazing. There's still nothing like the 18-35 and 50-100mm f/1.8 zooms. Kinda weird that Sigma never updated them for mirrorless. With that said, you do need the MC-11 adapter or Metabones adapter so figure that in with the cost of the lens (if you don't already have one). I've heard that autofocus works pretty well with the MC-11 adapter so that would be the one to go with (especially since it's a lot cheaper than the Metabones).
Focus breathing on the 50-100 is really prominent unfortunately so keep that in mind.
I'd also look for used lenses as the 50-100 is still a bit pricey.
