What's most unbelievable is the 100s of comments here and in the video about how Madonna is "supposed" to age: She "went too far" and is no longer "natural" looking and she didn't "age gracefully." People, LISTEN to yourselves. You want to dictate and bully her for what YOU ALL feel is acceptable for an aging woman. That IS ageist. You're all telling her she's lost that right because she's "too" old and you don't like her results. Madonna has been criticized for her looks and how she's dressed her entire life and she knows it will never stop. It's so sick when women drag other women down.

I can't wrap my mind around a mentality that makes a person think that looking like Donatella Versace is better than just being a human woman aging. Madonna is the one who is ageist and she also is the one punishing her body for aging over 40. There is nothing strong about her behavior. That is a weak, insecure person under all that surgery and fillers. A strong woman would have found a way to keep performing and being creative as she naturally aged. Every photo of her showing what she would look like if she had allowed herself to age naturally was 100% more appealing and beautiful.

All that money and yet little wisdom for a mature woman. She could have pioneered a 'no surgery' approach which would have been a protest against the pressure women face to look eternally young. I disagree with the channel host in that I don't think Madonna was particularly talented, she was in the right place at the right time and made use of sexualised content to become popular. I would compare her to Patti Smith who has let her her grey and is not bothered that she looks her age - she relies on her actual talent.

I always thought of myself as reasonably attractive with a good personality and I was fine with that. Now I'm aging naturally and I can accept it because I haven't got so much to lose and I still have my personality. For a famous woman, who was beautiful in her youth, ageing must be very painful. Girls in my hignschool class emulated Modonna’s fashion looks from videos and movies, but I thought they just looked rediculous. I wanted to be unique and not try to be popular by wearing those things. Instead I sewed my own clothing designs, so when I did meet Madonna some years later at a nightclub in NYC I was comfortable talking to her as a person and not as a fan, unlike my girlfriend who was so excited that she could barely contain herself. We had a nice conversation and she invited us to another club, but I did’t really care about that. Madonna had to make appearances at different clubs as part of her professional promotion contracts and my impression was that she found it to be kind of a drag.

And if she had allowed that to be her face there are more flattering make up shades, than the dramatic shades she wore when she was younger. A real stand against ageism, a *real* meaningful stand against ageism would be to age with strength and health and a love of make up hair and style and to continue to enjoy being Madonna. To age, but to be unapologetic about it.

It was articulate up until "you won't break my soul." There's the egotism. No one's trying to break your soul. Actually I don't care that much, and I guess many others don't prioritize what Madonna is doing in their lives either. But she thinks we do. She IS talented, but not that likeable. It's unbelievable that she doesn't really understand her industry after so long. Let me quote Fergie's song: "I'm glad my Daddy told me so. He let his daughter know." P.S. I met a sound engineer who has worked with Madonna in the past, and he confirmed that she is indeed a b-tch. In his opinion anyway. But she's still talented. So many great songs. Her contribution can't be ignored.

Practically zero difference in their physiques. I don't know what has happened to her, yes her appearance is disturbing, but it is her behaviour that is the most peculiar thing, she acts more like a spoiled, silly teenager goofing around in her bedroom, free of any responsibilities. She strikes me as being lonely, trying to recapture some earlier golden period in her life when she was known for being rebellious and ballsy. Now in her 60s, you would think she had something else to say. besides, the world has changed and things have moved on, I hope she finds some purpose and peace.

And those children have had to grow up through Madonna’s succession of boy toy ‘boyfriends’ and this descent into madness because she cannot face getting older. Children benefit from some conventionality! What they have lived with is very disturbing and disturbed. Another adoption horror story papered over by wealth.

Getting older is so much easier for men. Grey hair on their temples makes them look "distinguished". Did anyone say that about women? I understand that for a woman, who is famous, it is a problem to lose her looks. However, it ought to be done in a more delicate way. Perhaps here in Europe, the doctors are a bit more careful. A friend of mine had her eyelids fixed. The plastic surgeon said to her in advance: " I will tighten your lids just a bit. You will look well-rested and fresh, nothing more. No one will even notice you visited a doctor." And no one has. - Thank you Frédérique, you are charming, vivacious and so amusing. I love to follow you. Take care, hugs.

I am not a professional psychologist, nor psychiatrist. However unfortunately, my mother, who is an artist, struggles with schizophrenia, and I've witnessed terrible things close hand (and obviously it's a hundred thousand times worse for the ill person). I look at these images/videos of Madonna and I see mental illness, and it's tragically uncomfortable to watch. My mom is lucky because she has the support around her and is brave enough to confront her issues, to get the help she needs. Most people, in her circumstances, aren't that lucky. I don't think (and again, I'm not a professional), Madonna has schizophrenia, but something is certainly wrong with her mental health. What I've observed at a distance (Britney Spears for example, Lindsey Lohan - similar but different), is that when you have a famous creative talent, who is making serious money/has some power, and are surrounded by people who benefit from the money/power, the artist rarely gets the support they need. It's already difficult to recognize the problem and know what to do if you love that person. But when that ill person is surrounded by the wrong people, it's really tragic. Yes, Madonna has made a career through provocation. Yes, she likes to push and creative boundaries, and go through cycles of renewal in her personas. Yes she appears to be a narcist that feeds off of fame. Yes, she's brilliantly talented (and genius often borders madness). Yes she's under huge pressure in the entertainment industry to remain "young". But, in my unprofessional opinion, I think all of these things and more have driven her to become seriously mentally ill, and she needs help. I hope she gets it. A tragic example of how talent, hard work, money and power can't guarantee happiness and health in life.

Madonna does regret it, because now, according to DailyMail, she "is currently undergoing procedures that will restore her natural looks." Probably dissolving some filler.
She looks so much better and is recognizable in the "aged" picture of her that Frederique showed. She should have left well enough alone. I wish for her that she someday finds happiness and contentment with her appearance.

This is only my thought. When a woman has so much beauty, talent, & attention. It’s strange, if not extremely difficult to fall back, and become unnoticed. Yes. It’s called age ing. Our skin ages, but not our soul. I think she’s just trying to represent what she still feels inside. Now. You and I both know that it’s a natural progression as a human. It doesn’t mean we have to like, nor embrace it. The hands of time never slows down for anyone. That being said. Madonna has money to have the surgeries to alter this natural process. She has the gumption to move on, and try new things. Do we all agree she is still carrying herself well………..hmmmmmm. But, she she likes it. Making lemonade out of lemons. Her journey, her choices, her legacy. So be it!🕊

There are plastic surgeries then there are plastic surgeries. She could have opted for a vertical facelift. Plastic surgeons have had twenty years now to evaluate the effect of fillers and the best are ditching them. With all that money she could get the best instead of the shoddy work performed on her. For the record, I believe she tried to parody Tik Tok videos and ended up being a parody herself. She seems to take her inspiration from Cindy Sherman but has none of Sherman's perspicacity and shrewd eye. Instead of challenging the sexism and ageism of our society, she has ended up unintentionally reinforcing it by making people think she has lost her marbles (another form of sexism). She is actually more like the women depicted in Sherman's recent portraits of herself in the guise of ageing celebrities which indict a culture which expects women to be ageless. Madonna needs to think more about what she is doing, and do a better job of understanding the medium she is posting her performances of her aging to, because they're not good. Love her anyway.

Thanks for this video. I am Madonna's age and have loved her music and admired her but these past few years, I just turn away to avoid seeing her and her bizarre behaviors on social media. I agree with those who say she cannot accept aging and becoming irrelevant, but she is part of the trend where individual characteristics of faces are being lost due to what I have seen referred to as the Khloe Kardashian effect and the plastic surgery destruction of so much beauty of all kinds. Such a shame.

Her hairstyle and outfit and shaved eyebrows were not helping matters. I love Madonna and have always been so impressed by how she always managed to reinvent herself, but I agree she seems to be having a breakdown. There are things it would be better to not see, and in Madonna's case I think she is having a hard time with not being at the cutting edge, and because of our times if a person wants to go public they can even if they shouldn't. Britney Spears is doing a lot of this these days as well. I think her problem is that she is for the first time coming off as desperate. Her grace and confidence are missing much more than youth.

Those who criticize her for the new face - simply miss their childhood version of Madonna. Naturally aged face could resemble more that version visually, BUT the rejuvenated/modified face is actually more about our childhood Madonna - the rebellious, adventurous, good looking and cursed by the masses for her methods and her looks. She is exactly the Madonna that I love.

I grew up with Madonna too. I have always enjoyed her music, and am respectful of her talent. However, there has always been something "not quite right" morally and spiritually. I know that is an unpopular take, but I stand by it anyway. They say you get the face you deserve. That doesn't apply in all cases, but I have seen women in their 80s who have aged naturally and I would consider beautiful. The trouble is being inauthentic. She complains about "ageism" yet tries to make herself look 20. Her aggressive style of sexuality might have been tolerated when she was in her 20-30s, but now it is simply strange.
I am 60 and find young men seem to enjoy spending time talking to me. A woman who matures well does so primarily because she develops her inner world. If you demand attention with aggressive sexuality you have to accept the fact that not all men like that behaviour - even in a megastar. If you have used your life experience well, nourished your inner world with books, and reflection, and you look presentable, attention comes to you even if you aren't seeking it.
Lose touch with reality and reality will become a cruel mistress.

I don’t think it’s Madonna’s job to tell anyone what opinion they should have. That photo reminds me of Catherine Deneuve, whom I’ve always thought was one of the most beautiful women in the world. She still is.
As for Madonna, she is extremely talented and driven, which seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way, which is their problem, not hers. I can’t pretend to understand why she went so far with the face fillers but I imagine the pressure to remain looking like she is still in her twenties is intense.
Madonna, if by some miracle you read this, you don’t need to cow tow to the industry that way. You are one of the only people on the planet in that industry that can just show up looking young, old, fat, skinny… purple or whatever and you’d never lose even 1 fan. I’m not surprised that she is still at it…..doing concerts, etc.. I hadn’t seen her in a couple of decades and a friend told me that I have to google her and see what she looks like now. I can’t recognize her….If my friend hadn’t told me that was Madonna…..I would have never known. It’s her face. If she wants to ruin it…. ….more power to her. I think she’ll regret it in about 10 years or less. I could see where her facial skin was pulled back to her ears. That’s rough.

In my opinion, the changes in her face are very much linked to the woke idea of gender fluidity, which are not restricted to male and female. This aesthetic, which distances the human reference from the face, can be observed in several "artists", who are increasingly resembling something extra-human, or trans-human. And there is a whole medical and pharmaceutical industry that profits high from the constant interventions, and people like it are influencers of the behavior of the masses. So I think the changes to her face are intentional, they belong in a market pitch, and she's making a lot of money out of it. After all, we know that since the 1980s, she has never done anything without an intention behind it.
p.s I am not against cosmetic interventions, plastic surgeries etc. However, common sense and parsimony in the acquisition of these interventions and the search for the most natural result possible are enemies of consumerism, and it is this that makes people hostages of a meaningless search for eternal youth and the profit of the great medical-pharmaceutical industries to increase every day. more and more. So, i think the non human aparence changes on her face belongs to a global mega consuption agenda.

A couple weeks ago on NPR, they discussed this issue. I listened and honestly was not sure what to think. Fast forward to this video, and now I think I understand my thoughts. I think the statement you read from the article on her thoughts of women in the industry is true. I have heard it from actresses of the Black and White movie Era, Bollywood to and dance. But her actions do not match what she said in that statement. It would be interesting to hear what plastic surgeons believe is wrong with people who overdue plastic surgery. What is going on the inside? Is it arrogance? Vanity? Depression?

    • @Dory8
      @Dory8 Год назад

Men have plastic surgery, yet they're rarely discussed. When they are a celebrity, like Mickey Rourke, they will receive lots of affection and none of the sexism that female celebrities receive. Women are criticized when their plastic surgery, or liquid surgery, is botched, or for looking bad, not for erasing their wrinkles or attempting to arrest father time. And only women age; men are said to grow old. That word aging is itself sexist. It's a way of saying that a woman who is old does not count.
Who wouldn't take stock after being subjected to such cruelty (subtle as it is). A woman's age is not supposed to show once she passes 40, and in Hollywood being 50 and over is held against an actress (however well she's looking). Think of how Lesley Ann Downs played Jack Wagner's mother on the Bold and the Beautiful, despite only being five years younger than him and better preserved; better looking. He'd never be cast as her father.
No, it's not vanity (the vanity is men believing that they can be cast as the sons of women five years younger than them). No, it's not arrogance (men believing they look fine the way they are is what is conceited). Women, alas, blame themselves for not being perfect.

Little late to this party.. appreciate the careful way you approach this topic. I think there is a lot of concern and empathy we have for what we perceive in someone whether that is from an intuition we get or from something (likely behaviors and appearances) that signal us to feel those concerns.. Inherently though we are always trying to understand even though we are making a lot of assumptions and projections. I hope in my heart that she and many creatives who are up against massive challenges (of which we will never understand) to find peace in their journey ~ and forgiveness. I try to soften my concerns with what i see in society and especially social media with this hope. I cannot fathom the challenges musicians, performers, actors, celebrities go through.. life can present enough things to deal with without being in the public eye (scrutiny). I am reminded in particular of Michael Jackson also here… we get to let the love stay with the feelings they brought us through their art.. let go of the rest and hope for the best. I have danced my heart and guts out to both of these humans music and would bow to the art they brought through to this world to inspire and uplift so many. They are shamans in my seeing it 🌌

Love Madonna! Madonna is an icon! Talented singer, dancer, producer! Have always loved her music & shows! Always an entertainer!
Thanks Frederique for sharing, this is really so sad to see & hear about what the media & socials are doing not only to Madonna but a lot of stars!
Yes it’s worrying to see a star like Madonna possibly falling off the rails like others have done before her. The superstars are still human after all! We could never know what the fame, fortune, social media & tv, print & paparazzi does to someone living under it their entire lives unless you’ve lived it personally! I’d never wish for it myself! I’d imagine at some point it has to take its toll which might be what’s happening with Madonna 😢 but then again maybe she doesn’t care and she is posting these posts because she can she’s Madonna 🤔
or perhaps something more sinister has happened? An Illness or starting to see the affects of what too many fillers built up in her system so close to her brain might be doing to her brain?
Keep in mind how many women are having their breast implants removed due to the long term immunodeficiency issues the implants are causing! We won’t know the long term affects of Botox & fillers until many more decades have passed! Breast implants are near the heart whilst fillers are near the brain 🥺
I guess the proof will be in the pudding; if she continues to write, perform & produce good music or not 🤔 I do really hope she is ok 🙏
it is heartbreaking to see stars under so much scrutiny or anyone now really! social media adds a hundred times more pressure than before when it used to just be TV & print media 🥺 people need to be respectful with their comments 🙌
BTW the before & after if didn’t have surgery pics may be the new SnapChat filter? If the filter is close to what we will look like perhaps it can help change peoples mind and show them that ageing is natural and everyone will age and we are all in this together 😊

Madonna was a groundbreaking talent, but not one I ever considered beautiful. She had her own brand of attraction, quirky, interesting and innovative which had more to do with her style rather than any intrinsic beauty, and she had quite the punishing fitness routine, which kept her physically youthful. But the less fat you carry, the older, more haggard the face looks, so the fillers began, and the face lifts and the fat transfers, and the lips, eyes cheeks etc (Dr Amir Karam' analysis) but for her to decry agism and misogyny is stupid, as the person who has the biggest problem with both is Madonna herself. She destroyed her looks, and clearly has body dysmorphia at this point but I feel there may be other mental health issues troubling her. It's very sad to imagine that she felt compelled to go this route when her fans would have continued to support her without, and at only 64 now, I can't imagine how she will cope with continuing old age...🤔😟

We just need to pray for her. We All are on a Journey. I don’t think we should just show All her pictures and talk about her. 😢 People are aware of her change. Maybe if You are having a concern that send her a DM of encouragement. Much Love and Blessings to her. I pray for her Salvation as I do for All of us and that Father’s Will will be manifested in every area of her life In Jesus Name Amen. 🙏🏽💛🥰 I grew up watching her and she is Beautiful. I do Love the pictures of her aging naturally. Best for us all. The Lord renews our Youth. Psalm 103:5

Comme toi je suis une mega fan de Madonna.
Je retourne la voir cette année à Amsterdam
Mais cela me rend triste de la voir comme ça …
    J’espère juste qu’elle est heureuse 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
    Fan for Ever ❤
