      The new trains SUCK they have actually LESS SPACE, you cant get an individual seat like you could with the TYPE 7's you can't look out the windows the windows face forward so you are forced to see another person inf ront of you blocking the view and you cant even put your feet ont he grund they are elevated foot rests. RIDICULOUS! This is th eservice we get....KEEP THE TYPE 7's the type 7s were just fine you could look out the windows when the train was above ground now you cant look out the window.No individual seating anymore :-( now we're all going to be crammed against each other like sardines even more. Nice job MBTA. for ruining what was working fine.

    So glad to see these new cars. Most importantly, these cars unlike the problematic Red Line cars are not being produced by the CCP’s state owned upstart CRRC but by a century old European based manufacturer.

    • @jonscaplan
      @jonscaplan Месяц назад +3

      Good news. The Boston and the MBTA are working on a redesign of Huntington with dedicated transitway. So we'll get elevated platforms. Plan is to have it done in 2027 to allow new type 10 trains to run on the E branch. Final design due this fall. Looks like it will also be much safer, since you won't have to step off trolley and into traffic.
      The 39 and 66 busses will be able to use the transitway, too.

    Standing room only! Why have windows when everyone will be facing inwards? At least the handful of riders (un)lucky enough to get a seat. The only view you will have is someone's backside standing in front of you.
    No one wants to sit sideways, the Type 7s are noisy but far more comfortable.
    But doesnt look like that will be much of a problem since they only put a handful of seats on the train. Standing all the way from Government to Riverside, yay!
    Less comfort and more standing and the occasional sleeping commuter stretched out on the bench seating on a crowded ride home on Friddays...

    Not much notice of when this was going to be available to the public, so I already missed it. And this video does a remarkably poor job of showing what the inside actually looks like -- had to get almost 40% of the way through to see the windows (but lots of footage of the floor and of the interview), and the windows are rather small for the size of each segment. I do see that the Type 10s are going to have hard and uncomfortable seats similar to what the Type 9s have. It is also concerning that the manufacturer is the same (CAF) as for the Type 9s, which have not exactly had prize-winning reliability.

    I'm baffled at the positivity expressed about these cars. Volumetrically, they look like sardine cans; objectively worse than what currently exists. All they've done is gone into the direction of an extra narrow, extra cramped, more aesthetically mind-numbing red line style of train. At the very least, the tiered and segmented seating allowed for more elbow space and personal privacy. With this, it's crystal clear that they're trying to cram as many human bodies in as little space as they can get away with. Yet another showing of how the MBTA moves three steps backwards and one step forward. It's incapable of anything else.

    Also if they make a new green line they should make it for the red and orange line as well🙄🙄Since the Subways are CONSTANTLY BREAKING DOWN🤬🤬🙄🙄🙄
