hunter looks amazing but we have to keep in mind that she has absolutely the perfect body for all these dresses that she wears. it just all fits because she screams high fashion.
It also feels like the stylist isn't allowing Pugh to grow up. When an ingenue grows into womanhood, it's time for skinny straps and floaty floral party dresses to give way to things that showcase her grown-up beauty. Which is cooler, stronger and sportier.

One thing he didn’t mention is that the dress Brie is wearing harkens back to the 50s housewife & she was playing a 50s woman / mother & I love how that style was made contemporary & modern looking while paying homage to the original styles
That’s the first thing I said when I saw her. The dress was clearly referencing the “New Look” silhouette popularized by Dior in the later 40’s and became so recognizable as the quintessential 50’s look… Although I’ve recently read that it was done by Balenciaga first. Dior just had better press when he “created” it later. Putting the Balenciaga/Dior debate aside, I certainly acknowledge how spectacular Brie and that dress looked. SHE didn’t get enough press for how great she looked. The color was spectacular on her, and hair, makeup, shoes, …everything… was on point. I think when she got so overwhelmed meeting Jennifer Lopez, that became the big story.
I'm guessing Dua Lipa's look was supposed to represent a mermaid because she played one in Barbie. Brie Larson and Natalie Portman won best dressed for me. Especially Brie. Her look was a dream.
Taylor's dress is actually the first one she's worn in a while that I love! It looks so good on her body and I love the straps in the back! 10/10 I'd wear that

With all that was going on, the skirt part should have just been a fitted just below the knee style, the billowing asymmetric long/short just took it OTT, sadly, because it could have been good, all that bodice work should have been the feature.
I love the color of her dress and the bodice so it was a real shame. They should have ditched the lop-sided cut skirt and belt and fully committed to the figure hugging aspect of that bodice and run with that throughout the length of a full length gown or cut off just above her ankle with a slit or something.
i love taylors dress so much. she rarely wears green (actually nobody ever wears it) and the dress just fits her so nicely and makes her skin glow. it also looks extremely comfortable, i can only imagine how fun it was to wear that dress for the whole evening
I agree with nearly everything you said here and I think Hunter is the clear winner. It’s so windy in LA right now and it really worked its magic with her. But I think you are dead wrong about Taylor! She can be so hit and miss with her red carpet fashion but this is a moment she got so right. Taylor looks best when she keeps things simple, clean and classic. That shade of green was unusual and stunning and she was able to wear her beloved sequins in a way that was elegant and didn’t look like a stage costume.
Your point about Florence’s repeated dress style was an “aha moment” for me. I hadn’t realized just why she’s been one noted on the carpets this year. She’s so damn cool and I’d love to see her in some other cuts.

The day of the Golden Globes, in Los Angeles we had a HIGH WIND WARNING. It was crazy windy - the Gods did favor Hunter Schafer. She did wear "the hell out of that dress"! You notice we don't see many other outdoor shots, but she owned it and used Father Wind as her photo shoot director. Fabulous!!!! I don't agree with you on Lily Gladstones dress. I did like the dress ensemble. It flattered without fuss. Making a larger gal look shapely and elegant. You always tell us that a good design enhances the body, without changing it. Looking at her acceptance moment, I feel it was a great choice. It also let the native necklace speak for itself, instead of fighting for the spotlight. Love you Luke!
I love watching these types of videos by you. As someone without a refined fashion pallette, I can rarely tell what you are going to love or hate. Every look is an education, but I feel like if there was a pop quiz I'd fail.
Great video, love your commentary!! Just for future reference, Keoghan is pronounced key-owen and Cillian is pronounced Kill-i-an (hard C sound at the start)

My unasked for review but I have to join 🤭 So my fav looks of the night: 5:00 Barry Keoghan look was stunning tbh and It suits him as a person very well! 7:35 Bries look was so CLASSY! I love a pastel, fitted dress. 💜 8:36 Carey Mulligan can do no wrong in my eyes, I loved the upper part of jewels. 16:14 Dua lipas dress was so gorgeous! I don’t like the end of it but I do like how u brought up texture. 🤔 20:04 another FAVE look, Emma’s dress felt simple and elegant. 25:34 I didn’t like her dress at first but here ur description, I do love. She looks lovely! 27:29 HUNTER WON! She was working this dress and then that one shot where the wind his the dress perfectly ugh I could cry!!!! 39:48 idc idc idc I will NEVER get tired of the Barbie looks. Why? Because Margot seemed so passionate in her award speech and it shows that she really embodied Barbie and for all the right reasons. So another FAVE. 41:54 Natalie Portman dress was just so exactly how you put it “the dior I imagine.” Loved loved loved. 46:39 loved Taylor’s dress. Maybe she didn’t want to be the most standed out that evening???
Something that I think hasn't been mentioned here that makes Brie Larson's dress EVEN better, is *I think*, they were going for character dressing with it because she was nominated for her role in Lessons in Chemistry!! Which is a book-based tv show set in the early 1950s. It feautres a lot of dresses with beautiful skirts just like the one she wore on the carpet. It feels to me as if they took influence from her 1950s character and then modernised it for the red carpet and I AM LIVING FOR IT 👏
A friend of mine said that she wore that for a funeral of her award incase if she won as she previously said that she buried her Golden Globe win for I Care A Lot because she disliked the attention that she would've had at her house 😂
I loved Rosamond Pike's dress: my favorite. I learned that she wore the headpiece because she had a skiing accident and wanted to cover some bruises and swelling on her cheek. They def. made sth stunning out of that.
I normally just check out the dresses and the commentary is just white noise. I couldn't resist this dude informing and influencing me. He makes fashion critique fun.
I believe I heard Rosamunde Pike say her fascinator is Philip Treacy. And I too conjured la Grande Jatte when I saw that absolutely beautiful dress Natalie Portman wore. 🙌🏻 It is a masterpiece!
I cannot begin to explain to you just how much I appreciate your knowledge about fashion history in all areas; designers, their personal history, their shows, who wore it, etc. As well as the fact that you just GET THE REFERENCES every frigging time! Whether it be a theme, an homage, or a political statement; WHATEVER it is, you get it and mention it! I truly and deeply appreciate you! Just think you should know that. 🩷😽🩷 As always; love and light from Denmark, Scandinavia ❤️
I love how they brought these fans in on the carpet. They definitely made Hunter's dress come alive, but even just the gentle breeze it gave Emma Stone's hair was a beautiful detail.
@24kgoldplatedvermeilLuke himself trashed DG in plenty videos, 100% sure he doesn't police comments. RUclips however, that's different story, on plenty channels...
I don't think I've ever seen you this animated and excited on a red carpet review before. I was smiling the whole time with your energy. Also, some of the comments were savage and cracked me up 😅😅😅
this year was one of the most consistently solid looks across the board. I do think Selena Gomez and Florence Pugh need to get new stylist/contracts because they’re red carpet look’s regularly look like windsor prom dresses. Everytime Selena is at a slightly bigger weight, her stylist acts like the only clothes available overly-decorated doll clothes that are too tight on her chest or frumpy shapeless dresses that swallow her. Whenever her bloating is down, suddenly they can find fitted clothes-usually boring clothes, but better than what she just wore last night. And florence’s dress look like a shapeless blah and i have one-sided feud with valentino over this
ik we hate D&G but honestly i thought the silhouette for Fantasia's dress was STUNNING. she looked so good, and the top half of the dress paired with the gloves was so gorgeous. i'll admit the periwinkle was a really odd color choice for the bottom half, but i think if they'd done a better job with the colors then that dress would have been an absolute winner
Brie Larson and Hunter Schafer win best dressed for me! Edited to add: Natalie Portman in that impressionist dress. I loved the Seurat reference, Luke!
That PRADA on Hunter! It looks like magic. The movement of that overlay looks like a giant bubble floated down over her and just waved and flowed and flew and moved in unexpectedly beautiful ways.
I really wanted to hear Luke’s take on her choice. I’ve noticed a number of outlets aren’t including her (Vogue, looking at you) maybe because of the embroidery.
Surprised that Jennifer Lopez wasn't mentioned, her pictures from the Golden Globes has been popping up almost everywhere. Considering there were many other interesting outfits (Elizabeth Debicki, Rachel Brosnahan, Elizabeth Olsen and so on), this probably should have been a 2 part roast. Agree on the ratings and conclusions though.
Jennifer Lawrence now has the same boring stylist as Adele and Ryley Keough, she always puts them in old fashion, matronly outfits made for people twice their age. She needs to be stopped.
You are so right @hautelemode : Hunter’s dress by Prada is absolutely original and beautiful. Definitely one of the best looks I have seen in the red carpet for a long while. Love you Luke!
I don‘t think i‘ve ever seen Luke being this excited about some Dior looks than in this video 😭 But deservingly so, Natalie‘s and Rosamund‘s dresses are stunning.

The reason the peplum works on the dress Da'Vine is wearing is... it helps balance her. It's a very flattering shape for women with a large bust :)
I love watching these types of videos by you. As someone without a refined fashion pallette, I can rarely tell what you are going to love or hate. Every look is an education, but I feel like if there was a pop quiz I'd fail.
Hunter’s look is giving the ghost from the courage the cowardly dog episode in a chic way… divine!!
love when you insert pics of historical photos as references
can't believe your turnaround on these reviews but I'm so grateful for it!! 💘 happy new year!
Hunter was definitely a stunner in that dress. Emma was my second favorite. Rosamund looked fabulous.
Brie larson in the prada dress, love that for her
Natalie Portman's look was my absolute favorite of the night! Such a stunning dress 🤩
Great video, love your commentary!! Just for future reference, Keoghan is pronounced key-owen and Cillian is pronounced Kill-i-an (hard C sound at the start)
I came to leave the same comment 😂
Actually, Barry Keoghan does pronounce the g. It comes out Key-ogen. Which is weird. But that's how he pronounces his own name so...🤷
@@lydia1634 That is strange! I've only heard it pronounced that way by non-Irish people. Maybe he says it that way in public to make it easier for non-Irish people? Anyway thanks for the correction!
haha I love it when people pronounce Cillian like that, like he's super silly 🤪
You need to be a professor on art history or fashion history honestly I am so happy I found your channel
You taught me how to respect garments, understanding the history of it, all symbolisms about the garments. Thank you being you!
Once again, thank you Luke for putting out the video SO FAST ! We so appreciate the work and effort you put in!
My unasked for review but I have to join 🤭
So my fav looks of the night:
5:00 Barry Keoghan look was stunning tbh and It suits him as a person very well!
7:35 Bries look was so CLASSY! I love a pastel, fitted dress. 💜
8:36 Carey Mulligan can do no wrong in my eyes, I loved the upper part of jewels.
16:14 Dua lipas dress was so gorgeous! I don’t like the end of it but I do like how u brought up texture. 🤔
20:04 another FAVE look, Emma’s dress felt simple and elegant.
Thought swift dress looked cheap. Hated the color.
I actually really liked Taylor’s dress too. The material was fun and I thought the green was a nice color on her.
It feels to me as if they took influence from her 1950s character and then modernised it for the red carpet and I AM LIVING FOR IT 👏
Sillian Murphy and Barry Keegan is what you call the Ali express versions of Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan 😂
Rosamund Pike is perfection!
Luke, you were on fire. Hilarious. I love when you have a “moment”. Hope the rest of award season is so much fun.
I normally just check out the dresses and the commentary is just white noise. I couldn't resist this dude informing and influencing me. He makes fashion critique fun.
Where is the comment complimenting his shirt? It’s perfect. The ombré is singular, the cuffs??
I'm a huge fan of Rosamund Pike and i'm so happy that her dress was one of the biggest stand out at the Golden Globe
I believe I heard Rosamunde Pike say her fascinator is Philip Treacy. And I too conjured la Grande Jatte when I saw that absolutely beautiful dress Natalie Portman wore. 🙌🏻 It is a masterpiece!
I read she wore a headpiece due to a skiing accident. True or not, perfection.
Your opinion, it makes sense, you are funny and understandable, for someone casual watching, it's easy to comprehend what you say. Keep it up!
If you like a fun pant on the carpet, check out Yvonne McGuinness, Cillian Murphy's wife. She had a super fun outfit.
Greta Lee's dress looks like the curtains in my childhood home when I "styled" them for my curtain/blanket fort
I'm here for the excitement shown over Hunter's Prada MOMENT! YES! Long live mother Miuccia!
Let me tell you, I'm already done with Dolce & Gabbana for the rest of the year. Try me in 2025. 😒
literally! like no way these celebs don’t know how awful they are
they’re racist anyway
Wait why are they bad? (Idk anything about fashion)
@24kgoldplatedvermeil are we sure it's the channel that deleted your comment and not RUclips? Or maybe a bug?
@24kgoldplatedvermeilLuke himself trashed DG in plenty videos, 100% sure he doesn't police comments. RUclips however, that's different story, on plenty channels...
I’m so happy about you. Thank you for your commentary! ❤
I love how giddy you were over the looks you loved and also how appalled you were by the ones you hated 😂this video cracked me up it was so good
I don't think I've ever seen you this animated and excited on a red carpet review before. I was smiling the whole time with your energy. Also, some of the comments were savage and cracked me up 😅😅😅
Everyone wake it up... Luke is about to feed us for awards season!
Period!!!
finallyy
Rosamund Pikes headpiece was made by Phillip Treacy. She looked absolutely iconic!!!
this year was one of the most consistently solid looks across the board. And florence’s dress look like a shapeless blah and i have one-sided feud with valentino over this
Both were bloated, Florence used to be beautiful, couple years she'll be a barrel
ik we hate D&G but honestly i thought the silhouette for Fantasia's dress was STUNNING. she looked so good, and the top half of the dress paired with the gloves was so gorgeous. i'll admit the periwinkle was a really odd color choice for the bottom half, but i think if they'd done a better job with the colors then that dress would have been an absolute winner
I thought Dua Lipa’s dress was blah until I saw the back. It makes me think of a spine, which is genius to me to connected the whole picture.
Love you Luke! Thanks for this and for all you do!❤
Gillian Anderson was one of the best’s. She looked gorgeous!
I really wanted to hear Luke’s take on her choice. I’ve noticed a number of outlets aren’t including her (Vogue, looking at you) maybe because of the embroidery.
I loved Gillian Anderson also! Beautiful gown with a statement!
Yes, Dara did style it!!! She's truly on a roll with Hunter's looks it's insane!!! THE VISION IS CHEF'S KISS
Brie Larson, Greta Lee, and Natalie look SO dreamy 🥰🥰🥰
Edit: Rosamund Pike did her big one, she looks stunning
Surprised that Jennifer Lopez wasn't mentioned, her pictures from the Golden Globes has been popping up almost everywhere. Considering there were many other interesting outfits (Elizabeth Debicki, Rachel Brosnahan, Elizabeth Olsen and so on), this probably should have been a 2 part roast. Agree on the ratings and conclusions though.
Jennifer Lawrence now has the same boring stylist as Adele and Ryley Keough, she always puts them in old fashion, matronly outfits made for people twice their age. She needs to be stopped.
💯💯💯
I'm guessing it's because they want to be seen as more professional/mature. some celebs don't want to stand out and be experimental
That Dior dress from Natalie Portman was definitely my favorite of the night. That was art.
Thank you for this video! Luke, we really need to see part 2! Please 🙏🏼❤️ You haven't discussed many outfits yet! I really want to know your opinion. Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Hailee Steinfeld, Julia Garner, Helen Mirren (Queen 💜), Reese Witherspoon, Karen Gillan (interesting 🤔), Gillian Anderson, Kate Beckinsale, Elizabeth Olsen, Emily Blunt, Rachel Brosnahan (gorgeous), Amanda Seyfried, Naomi Watts, Angela Bassett (one of the best’s), Natasha Lyonne (she was serving!)…
Oh and also Christina Ricci in Fendi Couture!
And Elizabeth Debicki!
Kate Beckinsale look was awful…
I really liked Troian Bellisarioin in Oscar de la Renta. Good to see her 😌
Great fashion review and understood the Seurat analogy , Carey Mulligan very Madame X like attitude I loved.
OMG Luke, I love you so much! In bed experiencing a bad fibro flare and your commentary is so on point and entertaining! You've lifted my spirits!
40:42 I gasped OUT LOUD when I saw Margot Robbie in this dress! I knew exactly what it was, *I had that doll.* I got her for Christmas when I was seven years old. "The men don't understand but the little girls all know." Love love love love, love love love OBSESSED, fainted when I saw this. Thank you for covering this event, your channel never disappoints. 🥰
I am obsessed with Rachel Brosnahan's dress!! 😻 She looked amazing!
I'm just loving and binge watching you
