Just search for the CVT fluid and filters replacement video here in RUclips. You do have to replace two filters with its seals and gaskets. One under the battery tray, inside the CVT fluid cooler housing and the one inside the oil pan. These filters have to be changed every 60,000-80,000 miles (100,000-125,000 km).
I'm from the Philippines it's a tropical country, some mechanics here are saying it's optional not to replace it and remove it at all. Since we are a tropical country, the engine can function the same, there's not much use of it. What do you think?
I’m here because I’m going to go back from my mishimoto thermo to oem. Combo’D with the radiator from mishimoto it cools the car entirely too much even in Florida. Hope this comment helps anyone in the future with that set up.
ntonytay no you don’t need to fully drain it, just maybe to half or below the thermostat at least. If you can keep the coolant you drained out clean and it looks good and tests good then I would reuse it if you need to
So I have a 2011 lancer and it’s been overheating a lot recently. Like to the point of it flashing to check temp. I replaced the radiator fan because one of my fans wasn’t working and now both fans work but still heating up. Do you think a thermostat change would do? I have no coolant leaks, my hoses are good, and no puddles or sweet smell
Kendor Farms I will thank you for the advice. I’m going to check my local auto zone for the part and hopefully this fixes my problem but I will also check out the head gasket
Thanks for the video and making it look easy. Gives me the confidence to do the job myself
Today, i watch this video and replaced done. thank you!!!
Thank you, this video/demonstration will save me from taking my lancer into a mechanic. But, what does the thermostat have to do with the gear box?
Nothing
Do you have to bleed the air after adding coolant? Do you just leave the radiator cap off while the engine is running?
Thank you for making this video. Really helped me out
Nice videos! I have a 2012 lancer 2.4 as well. I’m ready to change my transmission fluid. Is there also a filter that I should change too?
There is a filter, but sometimes it isn’t serviceable. I’m not sure if it’s internal or external on the Lancer....

@@KendorFarms would you happen to know where the cooling temperature sensor is located
Gracias logre cambiar mi termostato gracias a su video

You can run without one, but they help keep the engine running at optimal temps. At the very least put in a lower temp thermostat in my opinion
@@KendorFarms Thank you very much.
I've runed cars without termostat, runed great, even faster because the ecu thought is a cold day😂

Where is the coolant temperature sensor located
Its at the back of the engine, at the cylinder head, with two small wires..
@@pcbahar Can you give more details .
Have you drained the coolant before taking on this job?
No, I just captured the little that was lost by catching underneath the vehicle
Good thanks from México 👌🏻👍🏻
Is there a gasket to replace? Or is the gasket on the thermostat itself?
Yep, it’s just on the gasket itself. An O-ring that goes around the outside
If you replace without a thermostat does the housing need cement or a gasket?
It would need a gasket to fit in properly
I tried this on my lancer twice and its still overheating, do you know what the problem might be?
Rad fan may not be coming on, poor water pump performance, plugged internally somewhere or a head gasket
Is it required to full drained the coolant and replace a new coolant after replacing the thermostat?

Thanks mate. I'll recently just changed the coolant so in order to replace the thermostat, i guess ill just reuse the existing coolant.
Hi, why do you change the termostat? Do you have any problems with weak heating inside a car?
AFGarage Yes, there was a complaint of it not being very warm
Kendor Farms In my lancer is very weak heating but two heater hoses was warm. Engine temp is ok but lower coolant hose is cold. Termostat is broken?
AFGarage Yes, I would definitely try that first. It’s the cheapest and easiest place to start
@@KendorFarms OK. In my country I have to choose two kind of thermostat open temp: 82 and 87 Celsius deg. Which to choose?
I’d choose 87

Yea for sure. It's a cheap thing try... it could be stuck closed
Kendor Farms thank you for the quick reply. I’m going to attempt it tomorrow.
Bryan let me know, it could also be a head gasket, but you’d probably be loosing coolant from burning it.... but a failed thermostat is more likely
Kendor Farms I will thank you for the advice. I’m going to check my local auto zone for the part and hopefully this fixes my problem but I will also check out the head gasket
Easiest way to check is pull the plugs and look for one with a white tip. Coolant burns white. Good luck!
You did not mention the specs of the thermostat you installed ? Like opening temp ?
No, that’s up to you.
Hi...i guess you have to empty all of the coolant before changing the termostat
Maybe a litre or two but that would be it
@@KendorFarms thanks 👍
thank's boss
