This is by far my favorite track from the Undetale OST, even the melodies are screaming "Hope" and "Battle" into your face!
I just had to do this one and I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
(Also I realized that I only did Vocals of genocide songs lol)

I find it amazing that everyone has different headcanons for Undyne's voice yet, for example, Papyrus almost always has the same one.

It's pretty ironic and obvious that papyrus's voice is just skeletor but higher pitched.

I love how her attitude changes in the song. At first, she's confident in her victory, saying that she'll take the others to the top. But as the song nears the end, she realizes that she's going to lose, but is happy with what she has accomplished, and puts her faith in Alphys, knowing that she'll be able to do what Undyne couldn't.
It's really awsome to listen to.

I like how even when she knows she's losing the fight, the lines: "This will be the end of your Genocide" still apply since she knows Alphys is already evacuating everyone.
I love how even when you win you don’t beat her, she did not lose she ran out of time. If she had unlimited time she’d have kept going

There's a reason The Undying is my favorite boss fight, the fight is perfectly challenging (without completely stomping you like sans did), the music is GODLY, and it shows undyne's character better than anything else in the entire game. By that, I mean that in the neutral/pacifist route, she's relentlessly chasing you to take your soul and her human prejudice shows a little more than her willing to protect, this is only changed after you befriend her, if you kill her in the neutral run, she tries to use the undying, but can't because she's aiming to kill instead of protecting, while in genocide, you are the heartless bastard that she was taught humans were before meeting you and she can use that power because she knows what you'll do if she doesn't.

I think in neutral she isn't as determined to kill you as in genocide because she knows you won't kill everyone in your way but in genocide she knows that if she goes down everyone that is behind her will be killed without a ray of hope

Undyne is a warrior. She has seen lots of death and is the true hero if you choose the genocide run but.....this is the same person that burns down her house cooking spaghetti if you choose a different route
This run does seem to show a big part of the characters that is pretty much invisible in the other runs. Undyne just seems like a crazy, spear-wielding woman who burns her house down a lot. It's clear that she cares about her fellow monsters and is a very passionate person, but she seems kind of crazy and extremely energetic. Here, though, she is shown to be a hero to her people. You really see Undyne's bravery shine through in genocide. It's much easier to miss when she's ruthlessly attacking a kid who is just trying to find their way through, even though it is for the good of monsters.

@@ratboy2 To be fair, when it's not the player the one behaving like a psychopath, it's Undine the one that looks like one. Until you beat her, she behaves like the classic killer from slasher movies.
Well, I see it this way. In any other run, Spear of Justice shows her as a self-righteous, ignorant poser. If you kill her, she doesn't have anywhere near enough Determination to continue fighting, because her reason for fighting was shallow.
However, in Genocide, she throws herself in front of Monsterkid and is almost killed in the process. She realizes the true stakes of losing and finds THE purpose of a hero! She fights not for some shallow cause like hating humans, but to save EVERYONE from you!

Over three whole years later and the same thing just happened again. I can get all the way to Undyne, but I can't beat her. Once again, she's stopped my genocide run.
a friend of mine once tried the genocide route. when he got to undyne the undying he kept trying and trying but never succeeded. he fell to the true hero and did not stand up again. and thus undyne became my favorite character just for that
Undyne is easy sans however is not.
Depends on the person. Some people struggle against Undyne because of bad reflexes.

*"Raise your weapon, try to fight me if you dare"* - Normally, Undyne will pretty much baby you in the fight. If you fail miserably to block too many hits, she will complain that you need to start blocking, and that she doesn't want to win like this. Undying gives you no such chance.
*"The wind is howling"* - mid-battle flavor text. Also, remember. Undertale is set underground. Yet Undyne brings forth the winds of the surface. She represents the hope of all monsters.
*"Deep in my soul, a feeling comes through. Everyone's hearts are now beating as one. I'll give my everything, save them from you."* - Edited, more lyrical takes on lines from Undyne during the battle. When fighting the player, she dies, and is reborn, and upon her rebirth? She feels that she must give her all- Even her last breath- to protect the others. Everyone's hearts are now beating as one. She can understand and feel every feeling of fear in the monsters around you, and she can also feel their love for each other, which she needs to protect.
*"Everyone's hopes are shared in one dream. It is with elation that I want to keep."* - Be it Alphys' love of anime, and wishes for more? Mettaton's love for attention, and his hope to be a star on the surface? Toriel's wishes to start a school?
All of this is shared in a single dream. The dream to see the surface.
As dangerous as this fight is, Undyne is happy to risk her life protecting those dreams. Elated, even.
*"This is our one and last victory call, not even you can slay such noble cause."* - Monsters have suffered defeat after defeat, without a single victory. Now? Now is their chance. A human has came to the underground, and been treated with peace, only to choose to kill their queen, and the most lOVABLE FUCKING SKELETON ALIVE DAMNIT- ahem- Now Undyne stands in the way of you causing further harm. In her mind, her cause makes her stronger- not physically, but mentally- and that, as anyone who has played the Undying battle will tell you, makes things a whole lot harder for you. The monsters win this? And they never have to fight for their freedom again. This would have been their first- and last- real victory.
*"I regret all of the things that have still been left unspoken. I would give them all to you, if I could just turn back the time."* - In the Genocide route, Undyne never got the chance to talk to Alphys. Had we gone True Pacifist? You- the player- would have been the one that Undyne entrusted with delivering the message.
*"We were climbing higher up, but now one by one we're falling."* - Monster-kind was so close. No real problems plaguing them, and they had six of the seven souls they needed. But now? You've halted that progress. Due to you, more and more monsters are ending up Fallen.
*"Still I take them to the top, you can't break my spirit in time."* - By this point? She has realised that she's on a timer. She doesn't care. She planned on fighting until her last breath anyway. For now, at least? She plans on taking you down with her. She will take the monsters to the top- the surface- even if she never sees that surface herself.
*"I won't try to run away, even if you see me falling."* - That's just not who Undyne is. She's realised now that her timer won't let her defeat you. Even so, she will bide time. After all...
*..."She will take them to the top, gather all her courage in time."* - Alphys. It's said in game that she was helping monsters evacuate your path. She is leading them for now. Should she be able to muster up some courage? She will be able to use the time time Undyne is buying to think of something. Some way to stop you, and use your soul to escape.
*"This will be your final breath, fight against a true heroine."* - This isn't a statement. This is a command. She's telling you that this? This will be your final metaphorical breath. The last moment of what little humanity you have, until you're more of a monster than the monsters themselves. And she's telling you to- after this- fight against a True Heroine. Alphys, while not physically fighting you? Sends mettaton after you, and ultimately stops you from personally wiping out all monsters. In the end? You've lost.

She is warning you, she is telling you that you have been tricked by someone or something into thinking that was the path to follow.
God damn it makes me cry
I feel like regretting the things left unspoken evokes the friendship she could have had with Frisk, not just what never had a chance to bloom between her and Alphys.
As for becoming a monster far worse than the Underground's denizens, I still love that Undertale treats a lone juggernaut slaughtering and looting everything in their path with the gravity that deserves, in contrast to stuff like shooter games where you can mow through hundreds of living, thinking enemies and it's just dismissed as what you do. Showing these creatures the true face of what a **monster** is is *intoxicating,* and "even if you don't have to try..." always implied to me that in her final moments she somehow got a sense of the saves and resets, and bitterly reflected that no matter how many times she wins, Frisk can just keep coming back again without giving everything in one go like she must.

So she even saves you in a sense. Because if you had actually beaten the Genocide run, you’d never get the true good ending without doing some quantum crap.

In the Genocide, once you get to Undyne's part, and her boss, you can't use the excuse: "It was all self defense." Because guess what? Papryus was actually SPARING YOU. You had a chance with him. To make all the deaths up and see that killing isn't the only way. But once you killed him, you're saying that you don't care if you can spare the monsters here, because all you want to do is KILL.
Undyne truly is the real heroine.

I love how powerful those lines are. How she wishes she believes in Alphys. And correct me if I'm wrong, but the line about regretting... it's about her feeling to Alphys, am I right? This adds a lot to the song, it's both sad and powerful, expresses Undyne's real love, passion, feeling, strength. Just E-P-I-C!

Having started genocide yesterday and beaten today (as of writing this comment) I am glad I did genocide because I really enjoyed the undyne fight even though I raged a lot when I got her down to one hit left then died 3 times. I am now sad that I can't go back and fight her again because I have other things to do now *cough* sans *cough*
im doing the genocide route right now and....Undyne is royally kicking my butt! man one of the reasons (possibly the main reason) i started this route cause i wanted to fight Sans. but if i cant even beat Undyne then i dont have a prayer against Sans! still i need to stay determined! if others can do it so can i.
i actually mainly am doing this route for the challenge, Undyne and Sans are supposed to be the hardest bosses in the game i think.

This is such a beautiful piece! I love the vocals you added. I'm doing a Genocide run now on my channel and just beat Undyne yesterday in episode 6. I immediately came to find a fanvocal of the song, it's so beautiful. Her opening speech gave me cold shivers and your vocals bring that speech to life. Keep up the amazing work! :)

Took me forever to realize the lyrics "She will take them to the top, gather all her courage in time" was actually referring to Alphys taking the remaining monsters to the surface.
I laid off on watching this, because I'm not usually a fan of those, but BURN ME ON THE STAKE if this isn't one of the most amazing pieces of music to have come out lately.

That line is so messed up, implying that familiar theme that the character might know you have faced her over and over again and she has lost countless times. But she's going to fight you anyways, because she has DETERMINATION
She is implying with her newfound determination, she will fight even if she is falling. She will stop You, frisk and inevitably Chara at all costs SHE WILL SATND IN your way even if takes you only one strike to rid the world of here. SHE FRICKIN DOES NOT CARE
+The Shy Flower My personal interpretation for the entire song is as the song progresses the battle is progressing and she goes from confident in her new power to losing hope as she realizes that she is not powerful enough to stop you and she hopes that Alphys can get the others to safety while she stalls you for a little.

This and chara's stronger than you response are the best of your undertale songs since your voice and the way you wield it fits the characters so well, your megalovania cover is fucking sick and as good as it could get but the music benefits best from instrumental presentation, and your own tracks just don't appeal to me but that's likely because my musical taste is pretty off.

This remix is fucking awesome and I play this version any day. However it was this version of th song that made me realize just how much of an impact the fight has. Undyne's heart has united with the hearts of her fallen friends and comrades and now she pulling out all the stops to end your genocide. That alone is epic. BUT then it hit me. She's not just fighting to save the the Underground from you. She fighting to save YOU from YOURSELF! She's trying to pull you away from the dark path your taking before you reach the point of no return! If she wins, then you die, ending your genocide. But if you win...then you have truly become a monster....

I have to say. Out of all the undertale covers this is the best of them all. Just the lyrics scream out with the soul of a true hero and with the passion of the fire in a heroes heart.
