The sound of being fifteen and so overwhelmed, not just by first love but by life and knowledge and experiences. Much I've forgotten since, but never that feeling.
THIS SONG! I can't explain what I feel every time I hear it. Nostalgia? Sadness? Happiness? I relate to it so much, and always loved everything about this song and video ever since I hear it.
[Verse 1] Could've been a night like any other One of us has to drive One of us gets to think I'll force a laugh to break the silence It's gonna get harder still Before it gets easy You can't keep safe what wants to break [Chorus] I'm alone in this I'm as I've always been Right behind what's happening She's all lost in this She's all like she'll always be A little far for me to reach [Verse 2] I was just a boy like every other I thought I was something fierce I thought I was ten times smarter Love would be something that I just know (Something I just know) How you gonna know the feeling 'til you've lost it I've been losing plenty since [Chorus] I'm alone in this I'm as I've always been Right behind what's happening She's all lost in this She's all like she'll always be A little far for me to reach [Bridge] Maybe something else I'm missing Something good and you're the reason It's a dream but there's a real world waiting [Chorus][x2] I'm alone in this I'm as I've always been Right behind what's happening She's all lost in this She's all like she'll always be A little far for me to reach
Mattia Gavasso so you're saying that your town is a sample size for the rest of the country? Doubtful. They've had an extremely successful career which has seen tons of radio play, tv appearances, movie soundtracks, playing in front of huge crowds, etc. I was at a JEW set close to 10 years ago in which probably over 40 THOUSAND people stood out in the rain singing along to every single song. Not too many bands that go their career "largely ignored" can say that. I think your mistake is thinking old music industry metrics apply in the modern age. Nobody goes platinum anymore. Few bands get #1 singles because that stuff is reserved for the bands that make Corporate Radio the most money. Rock bands don't sell out arenas anymore. When you start to adjust your expectations and view JEW relative to other bands that have found success coming out of the indie rock scene, you could argue they've had more success and longevity than almost anyone. You say nobody in your town knows them. How big is your town? What are the age demographics in your town? Have you walked around and interviewed every single person in your town to find out if they know JEW? Do you guys get radio signals and television in your town? My dad hates the music I listened to growing up and JEW is probably the only band I listened to that he could identify if they came on the radio despite them probably not even being in my top 10 favorite bands growing up.
Chase This Light album is super great to listen on the highway. Especially when it's a clear blue sky with the sun shining and nice wind blowing. The whole album gives a feel of freedom for me. If you haven't tried it, Try It!!!
This song is a true love story and is very interesting. Jimmy Eats World is one of my favorite bands mainly because of their songs true meanings a good example is this song.
It’s really hard to describe how much this song means to me, the emotions it invokes and the memories that come flooding back... I can’t even say I am a massive Jimmy Eat World fan, but this song has a really special place in my heart. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time, but makes me smile all the same. Such an underrated, forgotten about song, and it makes me sad really. I should listen to this whole album if the songs have similar feelings, themes... I think I’ll give it a go whilst socially isolating :)
I listened to every AVATAR album on repeat the entire time i played through fallout new vegas ultimate edition so i now just think of avatar with the wasteland in front of me
OK guys, yesterday night I listened to this song just secs before telling the girl I like that I like her, you know, to get a bit of extra fuel...she said we were only friends...boom, heart/soul/selfconfidence everything broke to pieces, I've never ever had a girlfriend or anything before, and I thought this was the time but NO...again... If someone has some nice words to share, I'll REALLY appreciate it.I feel very sad.
I knew jimmy eat world since a long long time ago, since they started and doesnt matter how Jimmy looked that i always loved their music, their texan style, they are so free they dont care about trends, they are so authentic.
There are no other bands I can put on any song and never want the song to end. Such a strange sensation playing these old tracks and feeling like they haven't aged.
11 years. This song still rocks.
so true!!
+
Can confirm, it still rocks after 12!!
Also can confirm again here now at 12 years and 1 month!!
How tho?? (bc it's good that's how)
The sound of being fifteen and so overwhelmed, not just by first love but by life and knowledge and experiences. Much I've forgotten since, but never that feeling.

THIS SONG! I can't explain what I feel every time I hear it. Nostalgia? Sadness? Happiness? I relate to it so much, and always loved everything about this song and video ever since I hear it.
Cristian Hernandez To me I think it's nostalgia. Time flies so fast...6 years...:/
Yup. So underrated.
Its pure perfection. it speaks to the soul.
I feel ya so much Cristian. It's such a nostalgic song. It's mourning love, but in joy. Ugh. Yes. X
That and I like that they're from Mesa, AZ(town I've lived in for 10 years now)
+how do you like the lyrics?
-heartbroken

"I thought love would be something that I'd just know. How could you know the feeling until you've lost it? I've been losing plenty since."
I'mTheDrummer
think is "been losing PLANING since"
[Verse 1]
Could've been a night like any other
One of us has to drive
One of us gets to think
I'll force a laugh to break the silence
It's gonna get harder still
Before it gets easy
You can't keep safe what wants to break
[Chorus]
I'm alone in this
I'm as I've always been
Right behind what's happening
She's all lost in this
She's all like she'll always be
A little far for me to reach
[Verse 2]
I was just a boy like every other
I thought I was something fierce
I thought I was ten times smarter
Love would be something that I just know
(Something I just know)
How you gonna know the feeling 'til you've lost it
I've been losing plenty since
[Chorus]
I'm alone in this
I'm as I've always been
Right behind what's happening
She's all lost in this
She's all like she'll always be
A little far for me to reach
[Bridge]
Maybe something else I'm missing
Something good and you're the reason
It's a dream but there's a real world waiting
[Chorus][x2]
I'm alone in this
I'm as I've always been
Right behind what's happening
She's all lost in this
She's all like she'll always be
A little far for me to reach
I wish I grew up with these guys' music instead of discovering them as a 14 year old in 2015. Still very nostalgic listening to them in 2022
This will "always be" one of my favorite songs from them. :)
radaradaitsbob yeay... me too
the video is perfect
old music videos like this make me so nostalgic for how things used to be. not just in my own life but in the world in general.
I honestly think that this song (and the entire Chase This Light album) is Jimmy Eat World's best work.
How do truly great bands like Jimmy Eat World get largely ignored? So sad.
Brian Dieckman "largely ignored" in that this video has nearly 5 MILLION views and it's probably not even their top 5 most played songs?
But they are largely ignored anyway. In my town only one person know them besides me

Daveyhavok832 lol I’ll have to agree they are largely successful
@@Daveyhavok832 Honestly, that's really not that much.
This is a song where we can say that we've all been in a situation like it. Love Jimmy Eat World!
Chase This Light album is super great to listen on the highway.

The whole album gives a feel of freedom for me.
If you haven't tried it, Try It!!!
YES!!!
This reminds me of how good the music was not so long ago.
I guess we all have different taste, but Jimmy Eat World has always been one of my favorite bands.

such a damn good song! this song and those lyrics "maybe something else i'm missing" get me through some tough times
I used to listen to this album while playing Fallout 3 so now these songs are forever inexplicably tied to nuclear wasteland Washington DC.
+Jordan Davies Your in Luck, you can once again strengthen the nuclear wasteland bond with Fallout 4 in one week!!
+Jordan Davies This made me laugh out loud. XD
@@max-rdj9741 same🤣
War never changes...but music does
I listened to every AVATAR album on repeat the entire time i played through fallout new vegas ultimate edition so i now just think of avatar with the wasteland in front of me

If my soul could write a song like this, we'd eat the the world as well
From Africa :)

I knew jimmy eat world since a long long time ago, since they started and doesnt matter how Jimmy looked that i always loved their music, their texan style, they are so free they dont care about trends, they are so authentic.
Are there other Jimmy Eat World's songs that similar to this one ? I've been listening to this song probably for 5 years or sth. Amazing music
There's songs like Work, Big Casino, and some of the songs from their albums Bleed American (Your House, If You Don't, Don't, etc) and Damage
+Talitha Dwi Agrati depends what aspect of the song you like. i think several songs on the album sound like it. "let it happen", "chase this light"
Talitha Dwi Agrati the middle
Talitha Dwi Agrati cek judulnya pain

That girl is so pretty! Great song.. instantly makes you feel good
This is what a music video should be
This shit is fire bro.
I feel good everytime i heard one of J.E.W songs.
"I'm alone in this, I'm an ass I've always been" thats what I hear lol.
+Kolby3884 Always thought they were the lyrics
+Kolby3884 same
It's not ass? Ass makes sense if he's right behind what's happening.
For those wondering, it’s “I’m as I’ve always been”
😂 same
Yep, just got chills....
And it's an awesome feeling right?!
If it was the guy chasing her, it would be a CSI episode with cute soundtrack...
Here I am in 2020 listening to my favorite bands from high school while sitting in quarantine.
why are people who are supposed to be in highschool always played by 25 year olds?
sign of the times I guess
Don't question anything. Thinking does your brain ouch.
Mich Und Nicht Dich?
Serviteur De L'auto What do you mean?
Labor laws.
I never get tired of this song. I love Jimmy Eat World
I blame this music video both for my uncanny affection for short-haired women and museum dates.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave Acoustic” by SLT 🤘🎶🤘🎶🤘
Jim's guitar is gorgeous
Is that young Lionel Messi there?
it's your dad
I'm in love with this song. Jim reminds me of my dad....
I think it's this video that made me have a thing for short haired girls
There are no other bands I can put on any song and never want the song to end. Such a strange sensation playing these old tracks and feeling like they haven't aged.

Like when you see that one person in a room...and you know it's gonna be special.
please do not touch the exhibits.
This is probably among my favourite music videos of all time, pretty much just for that moment at the end. I can't think of any music video I prefer.
This song is about working in a car factory and shitting in the break room.
