Kinda makes sense, but what to do with a runner whose stride is too short and sticks out straight leg? Looks like an A-frame

It’s all about the forward lean. Shifting hips forward hinging at ankles to approximate center of mass and landing leg to minimize braking. A stride length is just a measurement of horizontal distance covered between steps. It’s not inherently good or bad. It’s about what was the relationship between COM and base of support

Sorry but I only partially agree ..it's physic ,if you apply force from higher you have more power coming down and back... it's like hitting with a hammer ...so you need to lift the knees to generate power at higher speed, of course in a natural way not too much otherwise it can cost you too much energy..

So if you had to pick one you would focus on driving the knees?

@@learn2run101 no you see that's the point, you do not have to focus on just one action, running to me is about fluidity, and connecting all the muscles actions. You need to apply force into the ground to propel your body forward, but with angular velocity, that's where the hips extend backwards as you correctly point out, but you cannot neglect the knee driving too cause it gives you power, a higher cadence , longer stride and momentum ...

@@yeahhhhh9209 do you have a lot of experience coaching or working in movement with people? Less is more. If you are having success with it then by all means.

No man I'm not a coach it's just my opinion and experience as a runner and I did read many many books on running biomechanics and so on... Anyway thanks for your tips which are very helpful..

@@yeahhhhh9209 Don't waste your time correcting this dude. He takes it personally, as indicated above. My thought when watching this video was "physics". I had to see what his response was to you and it is what I thought I would be: "I'm an authority because I'm a PT. Are you a coach? Are you a ..." And then invokes Occam's razor, so I guess he is a faux scientist, without understanding it fully. Take for instance his response to you, "Less is more." That is not always true. It should be as simple as possible, no simpler. Too simple and you take away the necessary pieces, hence your comment. Good luck dude.

My coach keeps saying my back foot need to be higher but feels so unnatural since I’ve adapted pwt and it’s so much easier
