It's normal for fawns to be left alone by their mothers for very long periods of time. But the fawn are always very quiet, usually hiding in ferns or bushes. The fact that this one was wandering around making noise is a strong indication it's been abandoned. Probably because of it's strange coat color... Or because something happened to the mom :(
Bruh. The mom leaves for 8-10 hours to feed its self. When it comes back it feeds it. But once you touch that deer it’s dead. If you release it back… if a mom smells a human it’s going to stay away. So, don’t touch random baby deer. It was probably abandoned once the deer touched the human.
@@Dinosaur_Davis But he was craving, the rescuers said he hasn't been fed for 24h or more. A healthy unabandonned dear wouldn't have run to a human and try suckling on her.
It looks like he has piebald coloring, which is very rare and even more rare in adults, because it can be accompanied by other genetic abnormalities, sometimes fatal, especially in the wild. This is kinda how the deer that I raised found me. We found his mother, she died giving birth to twins. His brother was also gone. So we bottle Fed him every 4 hrs with warm heavy cream and formula. Living on a dairy farm helped. We were up at all hours and the cows were protective of him as he grew up. They keep the coyotes and bobcat away. He left after 18 months, but came around to visit often. He wanted his sliced apples. He was a beautiful buck. He trusted us.He lived to 6, before an illegal hunter took him. We didn't allowed hunters outside the family to ever hunt, mainly we had lost to many cattle. And Harry had an ear tag just like the cattle, so no one was to shoot him. I heard the shot, it came from a pickup truck on the road shooting into a pasture. I saw him from my tractor. I immediately went to the pasture, I at first didn't see him because He was down and so many of the cows were surrounding him. The shooter saw me and drive off, but we knew the truck. He said that he thought it was to dark for anyone to see him. I found Harry, put him in the bucket of the tractor, hugged him for hours then buried him . This was 5 decades ago and I'm crying now thinking about him and how delicate life is. I now an old man, stuck inside and will be with all my friends soon
That's a piebald deer, it's common for the mother's to abandon them due to their genetic defect. Had one in my neighborhood that grew to full size, so its mom didn't reject her/him. Definitely is an eye opener when you see one.
@@joevarga5982 Piebald deer are the result of a rare genetic mutation that causes random patches of skin to lack the specialized pigment cells that give deer hair its color. Even the skin beneath the white hair lacks color.
what a gorgeous baby, we found one last year, his mom was hit by a car, we brought him home, and called animal control, they came and said, they will take him to let him go on his own, I was furious, but they took him, we followed them, when they let the baby out in the woods, and they left we picked him up, and called our vet, he said bring him in, full check up, he was few days old, and our vet has a farm and takes care of injured, and orphans. He took him home, glad to say, he is big and gorgeous. Plays with pigs, horses, and all kinds of animals, runs free and comes home to sleep!
The fawn has a rare mutation in his pelt called “Piebald”, his mother most likely abandoned him, because of his coloring isn’t easy to hide from predators.
I've never seen a deer with that kind of coloring. His mom may have abandoned him due to that. But he's such a beautiful little baby. I hope he survives
@Nikki Dawson It’s a piebald, a very rare color mutation (although more common than albinos). The breed is the same as the “standard” colored deer, it’s just a variant :)
No they dont? they abandon babies because of either the smell like human smell that would cause the mother to think its a human not her baby they dont rely on sight.
@@spinosaurus9518 piebald and albino deer, being mutations, are also prone to deformities (you can look that up if you’re not squeamish). It’s cruel, but a mother can sense this and would rather abandon their different looking child instead of wasting time and energy on them. They don’t know if it’ll survive after all that effort with, say, a knee bent the other way... pretty sad, i know
His mom may have died during or shortly after birth. Fawns are born with no scent so other animals don't readily find them. The mom would have heard the little one and would have come if she could. Another doe will nurse him at the rehab. If the mom was able to, she would have come, and kicked your butt for touching him.
His ears are wilted when a baby deers ears are like his they haven't ate in awhile a few days his mother either died or abandoned him if anyone finds a baby deer in this condition take them to a wildlife rehab as soon as possible
Remember folks, if the tips of a fawn's ears are curled backwards like this one was, they're probably dehydrated and in need of help. A straight-eared fawn is a happy, safe fawn.
@@royhopper6703 dumb !!! You cant just take home a baby animal at the first sight because the mom not around maybe looking for food, she’s doing right. Keep learning !
The fawn was abandoned because it is a "Piebald Deer", which is a deer that has white fur due to a mutation. Many times, the mother will abandon the deer, but even if the mother attends to the fawn, the white in their fur often gives their position away to predators. Seeing an adult piebald deer in the wild is a rarity, so if you do see one, grab a picture! It's an exceptional survivor!
Sadly that means that returning this deer to the wild is not the best thing for it as its coat will make it stand out instead of blend in. Better to have it as part of a captive herd where it can be protected.
@Great White If the mother's leave them alone for a time I suppose it wasn't so bad for the people to do likewise. It was necessary, in a way. It would have been wrong for them to just take the baby if the mother was soon to return.
@@amandaconstanza Predators are often able to follow the mother's scent back to the easier, much more vulnerable target, so a doe will limit her activity around her fawns so it's less likely a predator can follow her scent to them as well. Deer actually aren't the only animals to do this.
Every year hundreds of young deer lose their lives because members of the public find a deer fawn that is on its own and appears to have been abandoned, and then they unwittingly interfere and cause infinitely more damage than if they had left the fawn alone. The mother may then abandon it as it smells humans on its young.
Humans are meant to take care of others, whenever we possibly can. Do not let others criticisms bother the kind hearted expressions that we have already performed. If anyone is ever in this situation, do NOT give a deer cow's milk. They can't digest it and it can dehydrate them even more or even kill them. I mean if you have lotta grass in a good yard then you could keep one I guess for a pet But because they’re a wild animal they need to be in the sanctuary you’re a wildlife center. If it was a dog or a cat then yeah you could just take it in but they had to call the animal wildlife rescue in that so it was harder lots Lots lots harder to take care of that dear Dogs and cats you can just bring them in the house and then there you go with dears you can’t do that. Which if you have a good yard size yard and you have lots of grass I don’t see why you couldn’t keep one you know outside but I don’t think in the states you are allowed the most states you can’t so yeah Other than that yeah that was a very very very kind thing to do helping that little deer because it’s obvious he didn’t have a mom otherwise he would’ve went back and they would’ve never found them again so he’d be gone if the mother came back for him Obvious in those 24 hours that his mother had died somehow if you hunter or she got hit by a car I don’t know but he was obviously without a mom so that was very very very very kind of her to do that for him Because once he got released back into the wild he’s probably with his herd with the same heard he got away from you know. He probably did find them eventually and went back so I’m hoping so so yeah So I hope now he’s happy and he’s back with the other deer in the wild where he belongs.

It always amazes me when wild animals seek out human help, somehow knowing that many people will do anything they can to help those animals, Including raising them pretty much as their own… sometimes, keeping them their entire lives. I know when I bought my first house that many animals came to the back door and did the same. From cats to possums to raccoons and squirrels. With raccoons not only coming back every night to get a snack, but also bringing their babies in the spring, meet us and get their own snacks. Always trusting that we would never harm them or the babies. I always appreciate that and love the interaction. Playing with them in the backyard and enjoying the affection that they would give to me and vice versa. Raccoons were pretty much a given, as they are like giant children. Kind of a mix between a dog and cat. My biggest surprise was the possums, who pretty much interacted the same as the raccoons... very nice and grateful to have not only the food, but somebody to give them some attention and affection. Nothing cuter than baby possums. Never had a deer come, though they are around… with the population growing in this area, especially over the past 10 years. I feel very fortunate that these animals have always and continue to accept me as part of their lives.
I think that's a Key Deer...they tend to be easy to deal with and often interact directly with people on their own, which has created some of the problems they face because of it such as involving cars, which, unlike the more common subspecies, just tends to obliterate them because of how small they are
Possums are great friends to have around, because they’re naturally quite clean, can’t carry rabies, and are the natural predator of ticks, which can carry Lyme disease, and of snakes (even poisonous species). Having a pack of possums is like having a pro-bono Pest Control!
We are the protectors of earth and are supposed to be kind and good to all beings here, but many of us become drunk with power and greed and try to harm those, who we were entrusted to protect.

He made it through the night and I took him to a shelter, where they bandaged his leg and took care of him. I called them a couple of days after, and sadly he had stopped eating and passed away. At least I gave him a chance and treated him with love the little time we spent together. I'll never forget that bird.

I am glad she waited until dark to see if the mom would return. Most people forget that deer leave their babies during the day while their newborns.
@W Jack and* and yes I agree too ☺
@Great White If the mother's leave them alone for a time I suppose it wasn't so bad for the people to do likewise. It was necessary, in a way. It would have been wrong for them to just take the baby if the mother was soon to return.
Then there’s people like me who had no idea. Glad I know now
why they do that?
@@amandaconstanza
Predators are often able to follow the mother's scent back to the easier, much more vulnerable target, so a doe will limit her activity around her fawns so it's less likely a predator can follow her scent to them as well. Deer actually aren't the only animals to do this.
That noise he made when he was crying out to you when he saw you, literally melted my heart to a pulp 😢😢 so glad you went back for him

Every year hundreds of young deer lose their lives because members of the public find a deer fawn that is on its own and appears to have been abandoned, and then they unwittingly interfere and cause infinitely more damage than if they had left the fawn alone. The mother may then abandon it as it smells humans on its young.
And that noise she was making!... She's certainly the master of the "game"!...

Because it’s not like your dog or cat you can’t keep a deer as a pet at least I don’t think you could. I mean if you have lotta grass in a good yard then you could keep one I guess for a pet
But because they’re a wild animal they need to be in the sanctuary you’re a wildlife center. If it was a dog or a cat then yeah you could just take it in but they had to call the animal wildlife rescue in that so it was harder lots Lots lots harder to take care of that dear
Dogs and cats you can just bring them in the house and then there you go with dears you can’t do that. Which if you have a good yard size yard and you have lots of grass I don’t see why you couldn’t keep one you know outside but I don’t think in the states you are allowed the most states you can’t so yeah
Other than that yeah that was a very very very kind thing to do helping that little deer because it’s obvious he didn’t have a mom otherwise he would’ve went back and they would’ve never found them again so he’d be gone if the mother came back for him
Obvious in those 24 hours that his mother had died somehow if you hunter or she got hit by a car I don’t know but he was obviously without a mom so that was very very very very kind of her to do that for him
Because once he got released back into the wild he’s probably with his herd with the same heard he got away from you know. He probably did find them eventually and went back so I’m hoping so so yeah
So I hope now he’s happy and he’s back with the other deer in the wild where he belongs.
It is definitely out of balance, but there are quite a few really good ones amongst us.

Hes got piebald colouring, that might be why his mum abandoned him, because he didn't look right to her. Hes super rare, & super beautiful. I would have really struggled to let him go 😆
It is a fallow deer.
@@orphnemusic6788 i disagree, i also think that’s a piebald deer. i do think that his coloring does look similar to an adult fallow deer but if you look at a picture of a fawn it’s totally different. fallow deer fawns seem to be mostly light brown with a light belly and spots, this guy is super patchy with huge areas of white, and doesn’t look very similar to the pattern of a fawn at all to me
They are not "super rare"
Deer are color blind, no, they don't reject them due to this. The majority of fawns are not abandoned, just believed to be by humans who think they must interfere. The fawns mother was probably just out of sight.
@@terrydriggers5217 or without them interfearing it died.. the Left it alone to Begin with even though it came right up to them..they left and came back at night and it was still there alone also..so if the mom was around the bend she would have gotten the dear by night time...
Let’s me honest.... The dodo never fails to make us happy!
Agreed!!! They always make my day 1000% better!!!
And cry.
I don't know what your talking about
Agree
Or make me cry
I'm not gonna lie, it would have been tough to not take her/him home. The cuteness is out of control....😍
Agreed. Beautiful fawn.
Yeah...the very thing that caused Mama, apparently, to reject him (stunning colors/coat) is what makes him incredibly attractive to us humans!
Ngl I would've taken this little guy home with me and raised him as my own
@@beanboy4900 I'd-a slapped a leash on him, called him "Rover," and taken him for walks, daring people to prove to me he's NOT a dog!😎👍😉
I know
He is a special deer, that's for sure. However, YOU are a special person. Thank you for caring about a life that isn't your own. "ALL life matters", not just individual groups, or people or any one thing.... No, ALL life matters on this earth. Human and animal alike, all equal. Scout is a beutiful deer, I'd love to see how he is doing now, I'll bet he is beautiful.

*To all the kind people helping animals: you’re always in my heart & my prayers ❤️ i love you all ❤️*

Love you, too!!!! All who help God's creatures will have a special place in Heaven.
P.s. BC of "christians" now helping Republicans force 9 year old girls to birth rapists babies, I no longer call myself a christian. They have made it a dirty word. But my belief in God, and Jesus, has not stopped.
So very well said. Good on you mate.
This is the most precious baby deer ever. When he cried it sounded like a lamb. I about died when he was suckling on your leg and ankle. I think you are wrong, you are his Mom. God bless you for caring and loving him! ❤️🙏

Good Night 😊
Fact: that’s a piebald Deer, One of the rarest animals in the world
I think he also had a leg problem at first cause he could barely move. It might've been possible that the mother died after giving birth or was killed by a predator. Since deer are vulnerable when giving birth
@@Its_Asteria even though this is just a guess, she might have abandoned them. I think deer leave their babies if they see a defect

OMG HE RAN TO YOU !!!!! THANK YOU FOR SAVING THIS LITTLE SOUL !!! YOU GUYS ROCK !
The fact that you couldn't get him out of your mind when you left shows that you have a kind heart and I love the fact that in the middle of the night you went back and look for him because you couldn't sleep I am not religious I am more spiritual I have to say God bless you because you are a kind and wonderful soul much love and much respect to you and I'm so happy that he found a wonderful home
I know that feeling. I once rescued a baby bird that had fallen from the tree and had broken one of his legs. I fed him and he seemed ok, but he was so young that I was very scared that he might not make it through the night, so I couldn't get any sleep, there was always this urge in my stomach to wake up and check up on him to make sure he was ok, and see if he needed anything.
He made it through the night and I took him to a shelter, where they bandaged his leg and took care of him.
I called them a couple of days after, and sadly he had stopped eating and passed away. At least I gave him a chance and treated him with love the little time we spent together.
I'll never forget that bird.
@@astrius4125 oh no im so sorry..but ur right u did the best u could for him and for that u get a star in heaven in my book. Much respect to u❤
You did the right thing by turning her over a few wildlife!! Too many people try to raise a while animal on their own and they give them the wrong food and they end up getting sick and dying from bacteria humans transferred to them not meaning to. You need to take them to the escort. I have taken deer and quail and other animals to a rescue Facility in Kansas, and their goal is always to get them to the point where they can go back out into nature and live safely without the aid of a human being!!
Special blessing to all of those people who work in rescue for the wildlife and are able to save them and get them back into the wild!! People need to remember these are not pets, no matter how cute they are and of course this was an extremely cute fawn❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️. I really loaded it’s marking that were 3-tone.
A big shout out of thanks to the woman (and man )
Who rescued this baby and attempted to care for it, and then sort out the right source so that you could have a healthy, strong life !! thank you for your kindness❤️❣️❤️❣️
Piebald deer, rare and genetically low percentage of survivability in the wild.
I would have kept him had I the means to make sure he could pull through the first few weeks.
They probably sent him to a reserve or sanctuary to live as an adult in a protected environment.
I was thinking the same thing since his pelt was white. Unless hes living in Antarctica he ain't hiding from nothing with fur like that
He looks like a magic fawn. Rub him gently and make a wish.

Taking a wild animal home is a terrible idea as it could carry ticks, fleas, parasites and diseases. I understand it’s adorable and I would WANT to take it home but you have to think before putting yourself and family at risk.

Good thing most people have medical gloves these days.
Its to make the baby feel more comfortable, as if the bottle was momma's breast

Whenever I see this, I'm simultaneously filled with warmth and dread. It brings me joy to know there's other people out there that love innocents as much as I do. However, I have known some cruel humans in my days, and it drives me mad with anger and sorrow to know that not everyone would have done what was right, and instead would choose the easiest or most evil route. God bless the innocents and those that value them as they should ❤❤❤
I hear you...I definitely have seen the same. Humans can be so good, so incredibly sweet and kind. But also we can be so horrible.
I always try to look for these videos to make me feel better about humanity. Thank you for your comment and thank you for being someone who loves animals. Have a great day!!! 🤓👍🏼
Amen!
I sure hope you don't mean hunters. Most hunters are very ethical people who would have done the very same thing for this little guy. As hunters and fishermen, most of us outdoorsmen (and women) care more about wildlife and the environment than many other folks and way more than we are given credit for.
Like any other group, we do have those bad apples but I assure you that us law abiding outdoorsmen hate those people more than you do even.
God bless. And many thanks to these nice folks for looking after the little guy and getting him where he needed to be.
@Richard Davis that is weak; you should fight him or her with you fist, and maybe they're hunting for food for their family, so why smash someone's face maybe they are trying to help their own family.
Ps: you must put your self first then the animals. BTW I don't like to kill, or eat cow meat, but if there are no other options, then I would hunt, and eat cow meat.
@@SuperUncleRyan not at all. I started hunting with my dad and my grandmother when I was 4 years old. They taught me to love and respect nature. I will admit it is more difficult for me to execute the shot now that I'm older, but I still l enjoy accompanying them and tracking animals. We only kill the largest bucks, no females. By largest, I mean oldest. They are near the end of their lifespan, and it makes way for new dominant males.
His Curled ears indicate that it hasn't nursed for a while.
I feel like him frantically trying to nurse on the first warm body he saw was a pretty good clue as well.
We live in an area literally a stone's throw from wilderness, TY for the tip, I will keep that in mind regarding their ears. My husband's uncle runs an orphaned wildlife sanctuary, so if I find a baby deer that I can be Certain has lost his mom, then it's NP, and the tip bout the ears is a VERY helpful tip!
That and the way his legs were bowing, very obvious signs he was getting dehydrated and undernourished. Usually I wouldn't interfere if I saw a faun on its own but it was pretty obvious that he had been fully abandoned, maybe because he was piebald. Deer will sometimes abandon off colored fauns, especially if they have twins or triplets. Not always but sometimes.
