Cory is very modest. For years she flipped furniture to gift to kids aging out of foster care! She's lovely and deserves ALL the followers! ❤😊
Thank you so much Lynn! You are a treasure
Of all the people I've watched, Cory is the ONLY person I've ever seen do that also. It warmed my heart. Refinishing furniture and other pieces is hard work. To gift those things to help young people says a ton about her character. She has always been a favorite one to watch and I've learned tips on painting too.
Thank you so much Charlotte that is so sweet of you to take the time to say all these nice things.
I love how genuine you are. You seem to have such a kind heart.
17 or so minutes in, you said the magic words that had me hit Subscribe button so hard and fast! You described how I feel about things. Growing up poor on on a budget makes you "aware" when you're older. I am inexpensive in my pricing of things also because I want ppl to have something nice at a reasonable price. You said it all so sweetly. Can't wait to watch more vids now, learn from you and get ideas. Thank you.
YAY! I am so glad there are more of "us" out there! Thank you so much and welcome!
IMO ....It would've looked better if you painted it : white, black or exspesso stained.....I love this bones of this dresser! I believe you would ve got your asking price.... because it could've went in a dining room or used as a tv stand, or used in an in home offit!
Thank you about the brush at the end of the drill. You're so right when you're cleaning an old project thank you
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching
I love the green color! Love your philosophy of selling to everyone's budget!
Thank you Connie!
Love the bench color & fabric choice! Nice combination!
Thank you so much
I think its amazing how you do your prices. I saw a lady paint 2 thrifted wood candleholders , 12 inches tall, she added 2 wood bowls. Only the candleholders are painted. Distressed. She priced them at 125.00. I am still speechless. Cory, you definitely have the right idea.
I bought a little dresser like the navy blue you done, probably 22 years ago at a yard sale. I still love it. Great projects today.
Wow. As much as I wish I could get rich off of minimal effort, It wouldn't feel right to me to charge that much for things like that. It makes me laugh when I see people ask so much money for things. And people pay that much for them? Its definitely a head scratcher. Yay for your yard sale find. Thank you!
You are sooo good at this diy stuff Cory! I hope you know I didn’t think you were crazy for the way you price your stuff…lol. You know more about your area than I do and I can’t price my pieces very high either…I live in a small town and people just can’t pay that much and like you I want people to be able to buy something that I’ve refinished or painted. I’m glad you are doing so well! And I wanted to tell you that I always learn something from you about painting…so thanks! And you’re a great teacher! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much Kim, that means a lot to me!
I’m just imagining what I can do with my iron set in that color!! I like the blue trim!! I grew up in the 80’s as young adult (college to job to kids, etc) the pattern you tore off is what was out there with ducks!! Chairs are round seating so can re do some seating cushions!! Imagine all the plants that could go with that color
The vanity stool turned out amazing. I was making notes of all the products you used. You can teach old dogs new tricks😊
Absolutely you can! Thank you for watching!
Teenagers are so much fun to live with. My kids were 2 years apart and they were great most of the time but when they fought boy was it something. 😂 Good luck!!!
Thank you Lisa. My older two are very close in age but luckily they are best friends and get along so well. My younger two will be the ones who fight. They already do fight lol
They'll be great, they have good loving parents.
Hi Cory, My name is Debbie. I wanted to reach out to let you know that I've started watching your videos, and I absolutely love your decorating skills! You are very talented, and everything I've seen you restore or redecorate is beautiful! I was a decorator in California 8 years ago, and now my husband and I are living in Texas. I am pretty much retired now, but I still dabble in decorating at times for friends and family. I love thrifting 😊 and have been thrifting since I was a child thrifting with my parents ❤️. Now, one of my daughters and one of my granddaughters likes thrifting and decorating as well. 😊 Please keep sharing your skills and ideas because they turn out so beautifully, and I wanted you to know! ❤
Hi Debbie! I would love to be a decorator some day. Thank you so much for the sweet compliments and support. It seems your passed on your decorator gene. I got it from my grandma
You are my favorite diyer! You explain the process and have so many ideas for us! Keep up the great work I love watching your videos!
Wow that is a huge compliment. Thank you so much!
Love all of these especially that little end table so cute!
Thank you!
Thank you so much Cory, I really really enjoyed watching you literally turning trash into treasure. You cracked it. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤ all your items, and you really did a brilliant job. I’m so impressed with your work I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up.
Thank you so much! I am so happy to have you here and I appreciate you taking the time to comment and Like
I love the bench!!! The fabrics and colors you chose are beautiful! The frames are the perfect touch.
Thank you so much I'm so glad you loved it
Your booth is beautiful and your prices are great. You'll soon need more space. Everything looks amazing!
I would love to rent the booth across from mine as well but with the economy being slow I think it would be too much risk
Love your projects. The navy blue on the ottoman was perfect.
Thank you Debbie!
Awesome flips. Have to pick the small blue dresser. Lol Love the blue.
Thank you! So glad you liked it
Nice job Corey! The fact that you price your items the way you do says so much about you. Happy new year and much luck.
Thank you so much Maribel
I love that "poopy" yellow😂. The lemon fabric keeps it looking light and bright.
Haha thank you!
I really love your vids. No nonsense and east to follow. I only paint furniture for myself and I love to get ideas xx❤ always
Thank you Sharon I am so glad you enjoy my videos
Cory... a delightful video! I've been following you since before the birth of your 4th child...really enjoy your narratives. Happy New Year and Blessings to you and your family! 😍🙏🙏
Wow! Thank you so much. Right back atcha!
I LOVE that fabric and your videos!
Thank you Melody
Love your heart for helping people bring beauty into their homes!
Thank you Lois
That lemon bench is beautiful but I would have painted it to match the dark leaves in fabric. Still gorgeous ❤
Thank you for the idea!
Hi Corey! This vid was fun to watch, I especially loved the lemon ottoman! It looks more olivey in the vid than chartreuse, but a nice color, and very complimentary with the lemon fabric! I loved the framed pictures too! I have a small cabinet that I painted blue as well. It is a record cabinet, so of course my records are in it now. Used it as a night stand forever! Can't wait to binge watch your channel!
Hi Sheryl! You have a wonderful sense of style. Love your record cabinet in blue!
I love the lemon pictures. Everything looks beautiful. You are doing a great job.
Thank you Pamela!
You always have such good ideas. I really like how you make things over
Thank you so much
I love the green on the stool. ❤
Thank you Deborah
They are turned out so beautiful, as always. Thanks for sharing, Cory ❤
Thank you so much Gina
@@DesertDIY you’re so welcome, Cory ❤️
Fantastic information, thanks for your complete honesty, and yes i like the poop colored bench, lol. I felt like this vid really hit home for me, because i am exactly at this junction for selling in my booth, go big or go home is generally not the rule. Loved all your flips! Working on my recent thrift finds, your shout out was up tonight in my quick thrift vid. Once again you have inspired me to go thrifting for great quick to flip finds!! Dar
Yayyyyyy! I will find time to watch it soon! And I'm so happy to help
Kindel from Grand Rapids! That’s where I’m from! Grand Rapids, Michigan:) great flips! Love the after looks in your booth ❤
Yes! Thank you!
Such an informative video and I love the way you group your items! Great business sense! I love the covered lemon bench the most and the trim is awesome❤
Thank you so much Carol I'm so glad you like it
I love that small bench! The lemon fabric is perfect. And, tell your son he's near right...when we liquefied the cow manure, it was about that color!! But it's perfect with the fabric.
Haha yes and baby poop can be that color too! I don't know why but I adore that color anyway. Thank you Linda
Personally I think you nailed the yellow print furniture, I say again you are a very talented lady that knows the business. I voted to sell the blue at a higher price but again you are the pro. Blessings to you and yours in '24
Thank you! You're right, a higher price would've definitely been possible!
Melange One is pretty much the only paint I use on pieces. You get such a smooth finish!
It is nice, I like it
I just stumbled upon your channel, and am so glad I did. I, too, refurbish furniture, "specializing" in the old Cosco stools and carts. I had a booth that I did pretty good with until the store closed. My rent was $230 and 15% of my sales for an 8x20 with two built in shelving units and two high walls for art. I enjoyed it a lot. I am now a new sunscriber and can't wait to delve i to your past videos.
I just redid my moms cosco stool she gave it to me years ago love it❤
*Cory, I liked all of your projects, but since I am a "gold girl", I would like the piece with the silver cup pulls better in gold - but it's pretty in silver. 😂 My favorites are the lemon bench and lemon fabric pictures in the frames. My personal preference for the paint on those lemon pieces would be the darker green lemon leaves, 🍃 but the color you used is nice too - even though it IS POOP GREEN, like your son said - more like a muted avocado, IMHO, LOL‼️🤪🤣🤣🤣 BTW, I L💙VED the blue gimp you used for the trim - it gave the bench a touch of whimsy❣️😉💯 And THANKS FOR THE IDEA to glue fabric swatches on top of the glass to make 3 distinct and coordinating fabric pictures to go with the bench...they look very UPSCALE together, and it also subliminally encourages a second sale, increasing your sales AND PROFITS - GOOD ONE, CORY❣️😉💯😁👍🏼👏👏👏*
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to give me such good feedback.
@@DesertDIY *My pleasure, Cory. You are always welcome. 😉*
I love all of your pieces! I love lemon decor as well.
Love the color, goes great with lemon theme! I'd paint those frames same color! You were brave putting blue trim on other lemon piece, it did look great tho. Yikes, thats lots of rent, then commission. Love your channel, you'll get sick of this grandma hovering over your treasures, sorry sweetie, ha!
Beautiful pieces as always
Thank you Jen!
I’m a gardener by heart & I Love that color!! Especially with the lemon pattern!! Not good at tech or links so can you just post it? I have an old iron scroll table with the chairs- found years ago at an antique booth for about $50. I would love that color on them!!
I hope you tested the paint for lead. Absolutely love your business model and especially the cute lemon print stool. Your booth is lovely.
Thank you so much!
I don't know what your son has been eating but I love the color of the stool LOL
Hahaha! Gives a second meaning to the word "stool" ! Lol
You have given great information about booth ownership. I need to listen to you! I am about to ditch it all but have stuff I can't see not selling or finishing. You have no idea how I wish you were still in AZ. I would let you have it all.
I understand. It can be a lot of work! I hope all your things sell well!
This is my first time watching your show and i have to say I love it! Its different from other diy shows. Its about time. The projects you make are beautiful and you have your own flair. I love your voice also. I look forward to watching your other shows and best wishes in all you do!
Thank you so much Cynthia I am so happy you are here and so glad you enjoyed it!
I like that you make things that are cohesive! Great for people who have just moved! Or people who want a new look in their home
So thanks so much for the tutorials...but even more, the PRICE you SOLD it for, even if not a big profit! SOOOOOOOO many DIYers START out doing that, but then stop bc they big or open a website, etc and to be honest, that is the biggest thing I struggle with and not enough people talk about what they paid for items to flip, materials, and how to factor in time! Im lost, lol, sometimes I price something and think its on the high end and it sells right away, where other things I price what I think is low considering the time I out into it and it doesnt sell until I mark it down or take it back and do something else w it or give it away, lol!
SO thanks for including that part, it helps to see what others price at, even though I know area and all that goes into it, but it still helps having a somewhat start point
You are very welcome! I am so happy to help
Corey, it does seem your prices are way too reasonable! You do so much to your pieces and they look to be high quality. It’s awfully generous of you to be so considerate of your customers. I think you came to Texas from Arizona? I live in North Carolina and have all my life, so I am accustomed to this miserable humidity in the South, but I don’t know how you bear it, it just makes summer time miserable.lol. Love everything you redid in this video, but the lemon covered ottoman and those matching 30:14 pictures are just gorgeous! Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much Sarah! Yes the humidity has been hard! I have asthma and moist air helps me feel better and I cough less than I did in az so that is a big blessing. I love the Carolinas. I trained for the military there. Beautiful states!
I hope you tested for lead paint. It was very popular and affordable in early 1900 -1978 when it was banned for being toxic.
Love your wor k. Always great job. Love that green. Loved everything. ❤ great info, learn alot and enjoy seeing the transformations.
Thank you Lydia!
I love your channel. I too grab off the side of the road, thrifting, and people gifting me items. Learned a few awesome things watching your channel. Awesome
Thank you Cynthia! So awesome that you save things as well
Love all your ideas and the finish projects🙏
Beautiful job❤
Thank you Laura
Bonjour et merci beaucoup pour le partage de cette vidéo remplie de beaux projets bien réalisés et faits proprement!! C’est de l’inspiration pure! Vous travaillez vraiment bien!! 😉🥰
Merci aussi!
Everything turned out beautifully; my favorite is the ottoman! I love the color, even though my son would think of it like yours! Haha! Also, how do you polish, paint, cut, and still have your nails look so perfect? I envy you! :)
Thank you Janice! Don't worry, I broke off 3 of those nails within 2 days haha. They were thr glue on kind. Those only usually last me a few days because I am rough on them since I work with my hands so much
You're not cheap, you're resourceful.
Good luck with your booth. I don't mind the yellow green paint.
Thank you Linda!
I'm not a fan of lemons, but that fabric with the chartreuse (a.k.a., poop green 😂) was beautiful on its own. HOWEVER, when you added the navy blue trim, it went from beautiful to exquisitely stunning. I envy the lucky person who snatched that right up.
I think that stool is a great pop of colour! Very fun! I like most greens though
Love the stool!
Thank you!
I love how you transform outdated pieces I'm not into lemon's just for the fact is they make me feel weak I love Valley lemon's but they don't like me lol but heck I'll take lemons over an overpriced Stanley cup 😂😂 great video Cory
Hahaha I understand. Those cups are so overrated
I think the same way about pricing. Everything is getting more expensive in the US. Being able to treat yourself to a little something can really brighten your spirit, so I keep my prices low. We all need to reward our hard work and spoil ourselves once in a while. When that treat is a bargain, it's even better.
Great point!
Your furniture redos are beautiful ❤
Thank you so much!
Really loved the stool and pics!
I'm so happy to hear that
1956, was a good year! I was born!
How cool!!!!! I love that coincidence
Really enjoy your videos. I would pay more than you are charging and I'm a bargain shopper. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much Debbie
Beeswax also great for drawers to make them glide smooth.
Good point
I love the color of the stool
Great video
Thank you!
60 bucks! What a steal!
Beautiful piece’s
Thank you so much!
Lovely lemon fabric but I’m on your son’s team regarding the “poop” colour lol. I love your videos ❤
Haha thank you!
That navy is beautiful!
Beautiful work
Thank you!
I have sheet kitchen curtains with that same pattern. I call them my summer curtains, that is when l put them up.
That sounds so happy and vibrant for curtains
@@DesertDIY l also got the oil cloth they have at Walmart on the big rolls in the fabric section with the lemons. Made placemats, top refrigerator runner and small tablecloth for small table on my balcony. Don't know if you recall. But l had contacted you about 2 chairs l found on side of road. I didn't know you had already moved. Anyway a year later at the same place l saw 2 more that looked like them. And they did. Then last year at the same place the table was out there. I haven't done anything with the set yet. Just put in my storage locker for the time being. The store l had a booth at in Mesa had to close her doors. So l had to close my booth down for the time being.
Forgot to tell you the oil cloth has lemons all over it.
I want to make a kitchen curtain with that lemon fabric
The school is beautiful and yes the blue looks great
Thank you!
What a great idea to advertise on Facebook Marketplace 😊
Loved the lemon!!!
$59 for a cute dresser? I'm in California, that dresser would be $250!
It would be that price here in some stores too
On that little coffee table, you should have sanded it down to get the color off. Then you wouldn't need to paint so many layers.
Thank you for the tip. The paint was not very opaque
I am out in West Texas oil country and people will not pay high prices for anything no matter what. I have had to come way down and some things still don’t sell. So don’t feel badly about your prices.
Small towns are very hard to sell in! I understand
Great information !! Chartruse Color of stool -- i totally agree with your son !
Thank you!
Cory, I can’t figure out how to share it, if I ever do I will. But I have a similar dresser to the first one. I ended up sanding some, stripping some, but mostly fifty percent of the 4-5 colors are still there in a shabby chic look I could never have duplicated, but it is fabulous. Except the top, different wood, itreleased the paint better and is bare. But these small dressers are usually well made, tongue and groove construction, solid woods etc.. However the drawers are often made of thinner, less premium wood, and may need a rebuild. The drawers don’t always work great, so they are better suited to occasional use, not for a child’s dresser. I know you know all of this, but someone else might not.
That sounds like it turned out beautifully
@@DesertDIY it did, and it was a case of the dresser really seeming to “want” to go a certain way. I was fighting and fighting to get the old paint off, then it occurred to me that it actually looked good, and I ended up burnishing it with fine grit sand paper and calling it good. I even found pulls that have similar colors that look great with it.
I loved the blue you chose in the first project. Just my personal opinion but lemons are definitely not trending anymore because it has been saturated in the buying market. 🙃 My local dollar trees for example sell complete dining sets in lemon decor. Yours are of course gorgeous but from a buyers perspective that wouldn't be worth further investment. ❤️
Thank you for letting me know.
The contrast between the brand new cup pulls and the age of the blue dresser might have slowed its retail.
Maybe!
You do beautiful work. So happy for your success. Did you check the old dresser for lead paint? You are the expert, not me! I am just concerned about your health😊
Thank you! I did not but I did wear a respirator
Back in the day, we called that color baby poop yellow. Or green, whatever. I actually like that color though.
The navy blue ribbon was a no for me. I love the bench tho
Thank you for giving respectful feedback! Would you have had no trim at all?
l love your work.
Thanks Corey-great video. Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth
What’s the best wood filler you have used.
The strongest filler for under Painted pieces is bondo.
Thank you!!
It is olive green and I love it
Thank you Janice
Stunning
Question about your booth : if something like the dresser is sold, who rearranges all the items that were staged on it?
The store employees will arrange it to their best effort for me until I come back and make it how i want it
You mentioned that people don't really purchase or want mahogany. I have a mahogany or cherry wood antique China cabinet. It needs either to be repaired or painted. I'm afraid to paint it because someday I may want it to be its natural color again. Can you suggest a painting technique that makes it easier to remove paint in the future... requested from a true Gemini. LOL
I would spray the entire thing with several coats of shellac before painting. The easiest paint to remove is laytex paint. But I think maybe if you keep it wood but add a peel and stick wallpaper to the back you might feel like it is updated enough
New Sub here. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of your upcycles. Where exactly is your booth located?...feeling I might have to road trip. Great Video
Wow thank you so much. 1153 Kingeood Drive Kingwood, tx 77339
Booth number M4
Sorry I'm not keen on the navy trim on the stool. Personally I reckon a deep green would be nicer. You did ask... having said that I've subscribed 'cos I really like your ethos and general style 😊
I think deep green would have been pretty too!
