- I came up with a list of more then 101 different Comic Books that are worth $20 or more that you can find pretty easily within comic collections when you find comics at Flea Markets, Garage Sales, Dollars bind and more. This list covers comics that were published from 1986 to 1999 and features only comics that regularly sell for $20 or more on ebay.
The list is not complete but its the list that I keep in my head when I am out hunting for comics and looking to see what I can find. If you know of any comic books that regularly sell for $20 or more from 1986 to 1999 that was not on my list please let me know in the comments below.
I created this video to help the new collector focus on finding key issues for their collection or to find comics of value that they can trade or sell to get the comics that they want. Its also a great video to give the experienced collector a quick refresher on what to keep your eyes open for.
Let me know in the comments below if you like this type of video and if you want to see more list of comics to hunt down.
I want to help you with your comic book collection. I want to make it easier for you to find and add valuable comics to your comic book hauls. I want to help you become a successful collector while you are out searching for comics books at garage sales, flea markets and dollar bins. Nice! As always, this one is packed with SO MUCH content. So many books in so little time! Almost all of these hold up a few years later too.
I think almost all of these have gone up in value since I did this video. I need to do another one like this again, one day when I have a studio for my comics I will be able to do content like this all the time.
i have learnt more about pop culture this week going through your so enjoyable videos ( i havent seen like half of the videos yet so its like a virtual treasure hunt for me) than the last 4 years i am trying to collect things i like from pop culture by myself. big big thanks. and the viewing party continues.
Super awesome, I am happy to hear you are learning things and having a fun time ;)
First time seeing one of your videos and thought it was great. Subscribed right away, can't wait to check more out. Thanks for making this!
Than you, happy you enjoyed it. I need to make more of these lists.
Great video. I'm happy that I have two of the comics you recommended. Both Punisher comics issue #1.
Very cool!
Oh God. Now, I need to sort through my old comics. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub, I hope you have some key issues in the collection.
Thank you I just started 3 months ago much appreciated hello from Houston!!
Your welcome, hopefully I can do a few more videos like this during the next month or two.
Nice video. Always good seeing video geared towards the little guy. Good job. 👌😀
Thank you. I like to help out collectors at any level so its nice to share knowledge with folks just starting out etc.
Nice list of comics, I really like when you added why some comics are worth money. Thanks
You are very welcome, I am happy you enjoyed the video.
Did not even know "Batman Adventures #12" could sell for $400+! Good for people who lost track of the comic scene for decades.
I remember the First Appearance of Squirrel Girl Marvel Super-Heroes #8. She foils Dr. Doom in hilarious fashion.
Thanks dude. I have 20 of these issues and I'm glad that I took excellent care of them.
Very cool! you are very welcome.
Awesome dude! I took notes. Thank you!
You are very welcome.
Thanks for the list. Been collecting trading cards for a long time and just got into comics. I found new mutants 98 for a buck. Definitely happy to have it.
Nice find, definitely a score. The more you know while hunting the more likely you will find those $1 New Mutant 98 issues and more. Very awesome.
@@popfuntoplay Yeah, I was very lucky to find it. I also found a few good ones last Saturday (spider 361-362, infinity gauntlet run, goon 1-5, y the last man 1-40, to name the better ones). Y the last man has an interesting premise. Also found a bunch of 90s to early 2000s wolverine. Paid 65 for a long box full of comics. Super happy with the buy.
Excellent video bro thanks for the refresher and great info
Thank you, happy you enjoyed it.
Awesome video! Thanks for posting!
Thank you and your welcome ;)
Nice job! Love to see I have a lot of these comics!
You have some sweet books then :)
Please please do some more of these. Books worth $10-$15 would be great. Cheers!
I really do, once the weather warms up and I am itching to go out hunting for comics I will make a few of these to refresh my knowledge and to share with everyone.
@@popfuntoplay my name is Tony Smith I am your number one fans
AS A NEW COLLECTOR, YOU JUST HELPED ME! THANK YOU!
Your welcome ;)
Great video, I will continue to watch for the entertainment value but I have been looking at yard sales and flea markets for 10 years and have never found any of these books for anything less than the actual value
What a bummer. I have found probably 75% of these myself for $1-$5. Good luck I hope you find some decent keys soon.
Thanks for the info great vid!
You are welcome.
Thank you for the video please make more like this one. And Any Side Info You Say Is Entertaining. And Definitely Find Those Comics That are Run of The Mill..But Worth More. Because Thats The Percentage Of Your Audience That Are Needing That Information.
I definitely need to do more of these.
Awesome list!!
Thanks 😃👍
Thanks for the helpful tips.
You are welcome :)
Thanks for the list!

Thank you and your welcome :)
Thanks for sharing!👍👍
You are welcome :)
You seem like a pleasant friendly person. I enjoyed watching your video.
Thank you, I am happy you enjoyed the video.
Just found your channel, and so far loving it! I came for the comics..been having the itch to come back into comic collecting and find it real cool to see all of your thrift shop finds! Makes me want to go hunting and find some!! This list helps this noob out when I do go out hunting!! Quick question thou?? How do you track what you have?? Do you have a app that keeps track?? If so what is it called?? Any ways just subbed to your channel, and look forward to your finds!
Awesome, I am happy you have been enjoying my content. I am really bad at using an app to track everything because I buy too much in the form of collections that I tend to just sort the collections into what I have already and sell off the duplicates. I also keep both newstand and direct editions of comics or any covers that have weird printing errors or colors. So its nice to compare the new stuff to what I have already plus I upgrade when I get better condition. It is not really practical but its how I do it. I know a lot of people use the clz app so that may be something to give it a try. You can enter 100 comics in the demo and I think you can buy the full thing with unlimited tracking for $15. I tried it and it was pretty good, it took a little too long for my tastes though so I rather spend time sorting them instead of entering in what I have. I think eventually I will make a spreadsheet on excel and just make lists of what I need more then what I have already since that list would be smaller for a lot of runs lol But when I am out hunting for comics at garage sales and junk stores If the price is right I grab everything I know has some value, anything older or anything I know I need. I kick myself sometimes because I miss stuff but I buy so much I get over it fast. I think you can track on comicspriceguide.com as well but that seems to be a monthly price and not a one time fee. Thanks for the sub I appreciate it.
Thank you for the response! You say you sell them, where do you sell them? Do you have place where to get rid of your duplicates and what not?
I have a Pop Culture store in Brooklyn, NY so I usually stick things I want to get rid of in the shop. I usually try to price everything a little under mycomicshop.com so I know anyone buying comics is getting a fair price.
Good video. Your video is pretty unique. Keep up the RUclips hustle.
Thanks happy you enjoy.
I agree you should do 2000 to present I find a lot of them when I'm out comic hunting so that would be cool.
Any that you think are under the radar? I mean most people look for chew, walking dead, saga etc but I am sure there are some hidden gems people miss?
Thank you for the info. Great video.
Your welcome and thank you. I really need to do a sequel to this video.
I just put up my first video on youtube a couple of days ago. Check it out when you get a chance.
I checked it out, good luck with your channel.
Awesome dude. Thanks.
Your welcome.
Good job!
I think i own about ten of those. Do more from that era plz.
I definitely need to do more follow ups to this video.
Good list and I have a bunch of them.
COMICS ARE AWESOME!!!
Great vid!!!! 👍👍👍
Thank you comics are awesome.
Thanks friend 👍 great video.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thumbs up great info
Thank you and your welcome ;)
hey man!! COOL vid. Thanks for the info!
Thank you and your welcome :)
Yes Yes!!!
great vid concept looking back at 2017.
I think most of these issues still hold a decent value or have gained a ton.
Thumbs up for comic books!
Definitely always thumbs up for comics ;)
Surprised you didn't get more thumbs up :/
Glad you included Preacher, ArseFace. This Guy clearly grew up on Yancy Street!
Great Video!!!
Thanks :)
Bad ass. Very helpful
Awesome, glad to help. I need to do more of these.
Can you tell me anything about The Flash series? I have 16 books.. ranging from 1972 to 1992, various numbers. Thanks again!
Good stuff more of that!
I definitely need to make more like this.
Nice video. Thanks man. Have the new mutants cable comic
Thank you and your welcome. Very nice, that issue really jumped up in value the last few years since the first Deadpool movie.
Nice list
Thank you :)
Venom: Sinner Takes All #3 has really shot up recently. I was lucky enough to find a beautiful copy at a flea market a couple of weeks ago for $3.
I noticed that issue shooting up as well. I added it to my list for my next video. I don't think I have one but hope to snag one out in the wild. Very nice score!
great video!
Thanks :)
I watch this video all the time! Can you make a part 2 of this. Or even comics above $50 or $100. Or anything relative to a video like this. Thanks
I really should, I wanted to do a series of these when I first made it but it does take a lot of hours to research etc. I am hoping to do a few more when I can though. Modern comics to look for, more comics from the era in this video. Older comics etc.
Pop Fun To Play I’m glad to hear that, and I def can see the work and research you put into it! I really enjoy you suggesting the value of them also, really helps us out. Take your time, but not too long haha, looking forward!
More of this, please!
I definitely want to do more of these more often.
Yes my Coin Shop has a 1.00 Bin with great condition and or Vintage with ruffles and bent pages Amazing titles :) QC
Dollar bins are always fun to dig through. You never know what might be hidden in them.
Low to mid-grade Bronze Age and 80’s in any grade are a great target for new collectors. I like your range; it includes all the crap that nobody wanted that will ironically be valuable in the future.
late 70s through the 80s has tons of awesome comics to pick up in decent prices and the most expensive keys are still within reach of most collectors so its an affordable hobby to collect that era.
I'm new to collecting comics. I have collected other things before like baseball cards, that would be listed as being worth a certain amount in the price guide but when you actually took it to a dealer, they would either want to trade or would not give you anywhere near what it was worth. Is that going to be the same thing for comics? Back then, we did not have eBay or anywhere online to sell though. Also, if you're careful, how much does it affect the value or grade of a comic if you read it? Should I buy comics for reading, and then buy a separate lot of comics for collecting (where you don't ever touch them, or are slabbed)?
A dealer will always pay you less because they need to sell the comic to make a profit. They are taken on the task and effort it takes to sell the comic and someone bringing them the comics are getting a portion of their value without the work. You can sell comics on ebay and get market value but it will take you 5-15 minutes per item sold so you have to take that into consideration. A comic can be worth $20 with 15 minutes labor or $5-$10 with no labor if you bring it to a fair dealer. And any comic that has a value under $5-$10 is not really worth that much to a dealer when they consider they time it takes to sell so lower value comics will get you an offer of 5 cents to maybe $1 each. You can sell comics in bulk on ebay etc but you will get closer to dealer offer price then full market value. So think about it a long box of 300 comics that are worth $3 on average could in theory make you $1000 but would take 25-75 hours of labor to sell 1 at a time and get max value and you would loose $190 in ebay fees and paypal fees. So you would get $810 for 25-75 hours of labor. So you might make as high as $32.40 an hour or as low as $10.80 an hour. If you bring the same long box to a dealer you should get an offer of $60 to $300 So you have to weigh if its worth it to spend the 25-75 hours to make the additional $500-750 or so. Most people have jobs and are busy to make a new job selling comics that is why they sell them to dealers. My advice, buy comics as entertainment and not so much for value, if you decide to sell and you get some value back that is awesome. If you are looking to collect for value then try your best to buy key issue for a fraction of their value since those comics will be the easiest in the future to sell. The bulk of comics out there in the world have very low value and really only sell well in a comic shop and not so much online.
Nice stuff. Go through a dollar box hun and look for key issues
yeah its always fun to dig through a dollar box and even more fun to snag a key issue for $1
1986 to 1999 is an awesome window...🤘🏼💯✔️
Yeah when I originally did this video, I picked that window because I felt like that is the most common era of comics you see when you are out and about looking for comics at garage sales and other locations.
I got the first 60 or so issues (including 5,6 and 24) of X-Factor for the UK equivalent of $10 at a flea market, or 'car-boot-sale' as we call them here.
Wow nice that is a score indeed.
Great list and you can also find a asm 344 1st cleteus cassidy .
Yes that is definitely one to look for, I was thinking about including it on the list but it seems to sell for $8-$15 at this time but sometimes seems to pass the $20 mark. I really should do a second video with the $8-$20 comics from that era.
Very cool, you definitely got the $1 bin luck that I think anyone can have if they know what to look for.
Conan the Barbarian #275. Last issue in the run and end of an era. Nice vid.
Oh yes that issue definitely has some value, I think it was around $10 when I filmed this but I would not be shocked if its worth much more now.
I subscribed bro! Fun video! Thank you. Definitely looking for some of these as of now. Especially that carnage surfer series!!! Fire!
Thanks for the sub I appreciate it. The Surfer Carnage series is pretty darn cool.
nice video man so what do you think whats the value of x-men from ( series 1) 1963 i just started collection 1-66 in cgc cover how much you think they worth high & low thanks
Off the top of my head I do not know the exact value but its going to be high. If you check ebay completed auctions you can definitely see the approximate cost of each issue.
Well done.
Thanks ;)
Yes! MORE!! 👊🏼
I know I need to do more.
I find venom & carnage stuff a lot out in MA. Some of those fetch good prices also.
They are definitely pretty common and have gone up a good amount since the movie. Its funny to think Venom Lethal protector was less then $5 when I made this video but an easy $20 seller today.
i actually had 1 of the 101 listed lol i have the sensational she-hulk 40 (jump rope cover/issue)
That is a cool one. Hopefully you find more in your hunts down the road.
Would deff want an up to date on wha to look out for when shopping for comics . I’m new to the comic book scene but I want more information on what comics are good reads but also valuable and not tooo too hard to find ty again . I love the channel !
I definitely need to do some sequels to this video. Especially covering modern comics.
Pop Fun To Play yea I’m a young man getting into comics . I love these stories so collecting these books is something I’ve taken some interest in . So even new books that just recently came out would be gold to get some knowledge from you on what to look out for . This video has been really really helpful I’ve picked some books up already
Nice, what did you find so far?
Pop Fun To Play New Mutants 87, Ironman 282, captain America 360 ,
I also got the deadshot DC comics 1-4 I love deadshot not sure if it’s valuable but I love the character itself
Great examples.. I have a quick story to share, I walked in to a local comic shop to browse around when a man walks in asking if they were buying at the moment. Store manager said not at the moment especially 90's stuff so I asked the person if I could see them and he showed me 1 Long box, it had Spawn #1-30 in great condition lots of more Image and a couple of Wolverines and Web of..... but in there was the "almost complete" run of Evil Ernie #1-4 (missing 5)! Was super stoked when I got home and found it while going through them.. First Time I can say I got something at dirt price.. paid $50 for the full box and I still haven't gotten through it all at the moment.
Nice just 1 of the Evil Ernie comics more then made up the value you paid for the box.
I'm willing to let it go for key issues of ASM or Uncanny if you have any? Let me know and we can talk more through FB, I went looking for you and just recently liked the page... Thanks a lot!
At the moment I am really not doing much trading or mail order, I just do not have the time. Those are very desirable issues. I am sure you can sell them to buy something else you want pretty easily.
I think you need to specify some of the "first appearances" you mentioned. Some may be the first appearance in that particular series but not the original appearance.
Noted, do you have specific issues I mentioned?
I have a lot of these from when i was younger just sitting around I guess I should get rid of em... interesting indeed.
You have some value then :)
@@popfuntoplay it never occurred to me they were special thx for pointing it out
I love the time era listed because I love comics from that age, give or take! I just started collecting comics and I've found some decent comics, according to go collect. com.
Its an era I enjoy as well because it is from when I first started collecting as a kid.
I have betty and veronica double digest no. 20 and no.23 1990 all have plastic cover but i don’t know how much is the value help
I usually sell the digest for $2-$4 in my shop, not sure there are any key issues worth more then that.
Hello there can you do one of Comic books from 1986 to 1999 that are from the $5.00 to 15.00 price range that are collectible or that thay are key issue or very good to have as a bargainer to comic book collecting
One of these days I want to start doing a bunch more of these to make collecting easier.
I'm a nerd. The last issue of Star Wars, also has the first professional artwork from Whilce Portacio.
Oh Very cool.
I've been loving early Whilce Portacio, ty for this tip, I'll definitely keep an eye out!
Zen Intergalactic Ninja #1 published 1987. First appearance of Zen. Low print run.
That one was not on my hunting radar, I will add it to my next video.
Cool video if you can do an updated one for 2020 :)
Yeah I really need to make more of these.
I picked up Death of Jason Todd at a convention for 50p, it was in the 50p box and I asked are all the comics in this box that price just to make sure but was cagey about showing what it was and low and behold I bought it at that price.
Nice, it just goes to show if you dig in the cheap comic boxes you never know what gem might be in there. I just found Totally awesome Hulk 22 in a sidewalk sale yesterday for $1 on my way to the comic shop haha
They may be hard to find at a Garage sale (or anywhere else), but take a look at the Uncle Scrooge comics from this era. Especially the "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" storyline and especially #310. (1998). Good luck finding them though :) Also #219 (1987 I think)
I will add them to my list, with anything even if they are rare if they are on your radar you never know when you will find them.
Apart from the Caliber set - are there any other CROW comics or mini series worth pursuing?
Are there any sought after Image titles?
the 1992 Tundra Crow comics have some value I think in the $10-$15 each range. All the other series seem to have a low value but if you are a fan of the Crow they are all worth hunting down. Early Image comics for the most part are low value. Spawn is starting to rise somewhat with issue 1 occasionally hitting the $20 and higher mark. #9 Also sells pretty well. And then when it comes to spawn all the low numbers are mass produced but once you reach around 100 they start to become pretty rare with many of the issues selling in the $5,$10, $15, $20 or more range. I tend to pick up any Spawn I see that is over #100 if its in a dollar bin etc. When it comes to 2000s Image though there is a ton of big boys worth some money, Saga #1, Walking Dead #1 and most of the rest of the issues in the series etc. I really need to do a 2000-2018 Comics to look out for that have value video.
Pop Fun To Play Thanks for letting me know the score.
Looking forward to your next set of videos.
I find your video very informative. I have a Elf Quest #11. Do you know if its worth anything? I'd appreciate your input when you have the time. Thanks!
I am glad I can give you some information. The marvel value for Elf Quest is kinda low, if its the late 1970s magazine the 1st print is maybe $5 at best and the later printings $3 maybe. The Epic comic from the mid 80s is maybe a $1 comic.
Thanks very much! :)
what is your opinion on 3rd edition on garfield and 12th edition of playboy hard bound colored comic book.
I am not 100% sure which books you are referring too, if you want to know their value most books with a ISBN you can look up on amazon and get a idea of how much the books cost by the lowest listed used copy (Unless that copy is listed in poor condition etc then the second lowest and so on) As for the quality of the books themselves I have not read them so I am not sure.
3:27 he starts value
Tihee Brisbane no value. Bc you can find these all day long in 50 cent dollar boxes at comic book stores.
Thanks.
@@justinconn1301 maybe where you live but not here
Thanks
Thanks I hate when these comic vidoes ramble on, they should stick to comics, that's why I made my vid short
!More videos yes!
Just posted a huge comic haul video :)
Nice man...
Thanks ;)
You are a star.
Thank you.
I only find Golden Age books at yard sale. With any luck these will begin to show around here??
I would love to find Golden Age books at garage sales lol
How about the first 10 issues to Witchblade and Cyblade/Shi The Battle for Independents 1?
I will have to look into those, I would not be surprised if the value has jumped on those.
Where did you find Birds of Prey 8 at a flea market? It's the only issue of my BoP run in missing.
It's the first kiss of Nightwing and Batgirl.
I look at finding rare things like the Birthday Paradox, if you are looking for one specific comic for a good price there will be a very low chance of finding it. But if you are looking for a ton of more valuable comics for a good price there is a very high chance that you will find one of them every time you look. I actually still need that one in my collection but from this list I have found at least 70-80 of them for $1 or two at garage sales flea markets, thrift stores etc. And some many times over.
wow i had alot of the spider-man ones! mow i need to get them graded
Very nice, you have some sweet comics then.
I like the video man, but these books haven't been easy garage sale type finds since the 90s lol
I find a few a year, and I see tons of folks find some on facebook. Its not about going to a sale and looking for 1 book and finding it. Its about going to a sale and knowing all the books to look for which then makes your chances of finding something important a inevitable.
Thanks
Your welcome.
You should do another one of these vids couse there's so many comics over 20 dollars out there.
I definitely want to do several more of these videos, 2000-present non variant comics worth $20 or more. Rare and variant comics from 1980-2000, variants from the 2000s to look for. More $20 plus comics from 1980-2000 and maybe a 1970s video not sure. But it was fun and it helps me with my collecting as well to refresh myself.
I Iike comic books...i got a couple ..whats best way to figure out the value of them
What I do is look at one title at a time on mycomicshop.com for instance Iron man then anything that is cheaper $1-$5 or so I kinda know does not have too much value. Anything they are sold out of or has a high price I then check ebay completed listing to get a good feel for its value.
I think nextmen 21 is undervalued because it’s the second appearance of hellboy. Dime press isn’t really a comic, so sdcc is technically the first and the lowest print run of the 3. Hellboy is actually color in nextmen 21 tho
Its gone up a lot in the last few years but definitely still pretty under valued.
I got batman #427,428, also I got the new mutants #87,98, the punisher vol 2#1, and the uncanny x-men #244.😀👍
Very nice, all awesome keys.
@@popfuntoplay yes they are. 😀👍
nice comics books
😀👍
Full list please ❤️❤️
Great idea. Glad I found this video. Hope you made more.
I really need to do at least 2-3 more but so far I just did this one.
Spawn #9. It's the first appearance of Angela. Seen it at a store and they were charging $20 for it.
Ive been grabbing those for years from dollar bins. Definitely one that is selling for more.
thank you love it
You are welcome ;)
I just subbed. More comics collection news!
Thank you, I appreciate the sub. I need to do more videos like this.
