When Marcus said “finally” as the Romanian coven tore him to pieces it was because Aro had killed his wife in the book, and he was depressed ever since she had died, and Aro wouldn’t let him leave the Volturi Coven. He was tired of the immortal life.
That hit me as well when I first watched it. I pretty much sure he would loved to live in peace like the Cullen's were.
What also wasn't included was
Whoops. What wasn't talked about was how Aro was the one who killed his wife who was actually Aro's sister. He killed her because she and Marcus were talking about leaving the volturi. He did it as a way to keep him with them.

When I first saw the movie I was disappointed it was all a vision but as I've gotten older I've become relieved all the wolves and Cullen's were safe.

This is Alice's vision of what could have happened if Aro did not change his decision. Imagine seeing your own death and getting beheaded by Bella and Edward. Aro looked so terrified 🤣
Not only do we get the best action scene but Alice’s vision provides a more convincing reason for Aro to stand down than Bella’s shield putting the Volturi at a disadvantage in the book.
Agreed. The film's version made more impact as oppose to the book's version where Bella's shield and the presence of Nahuel played the major part of Volturi's retreat.
One thing I wonder about - was Aro more powerful physically than other vampires? By the series logic, he should have been weak? Being as far from a newborn as you can be? But then again, he's probably entitled to constant high quality blood. IDK.
But I ask because he seemed pretty imposing in all of his physical encounters, 1 shotting Carlyle, completely ragdolling newborn Bella, and was diamond crinkling on hero-character Edward's neck before Bella jumped on, and even her newborn strength wasn't quite enough to rip his head off, they had to do some bruce lee shenanigans. But they might have just filmed more fight material for him because he was the lead antagonist.

He had been living his life miserably ever since Aro decided to kill his wife ! Pretty fucked up considering she was Aros sister. But he was just depressed and couldn’t really escape the Volturi 🤷🏽♀️

Love the volturis reaction when Jane was killed. That moment they new their most powerful defense line was down
She’s actually not the most powerful, her brother is. Not only can he strip people of every sense, he can use the gift on anyone in his line of sight , whereas Jane can only use her gift on one person at a time and she has to be looking directly at them. The Volturi doesn’t really use Alec’s power because they’re “judges” and when their victims are on trial they have to be able to speak and answer questions or plead their case, they can’t do this if they’re unable to hear or speak. If this battle happened while Bella was still human, Alec would be the volturi’s most valuable asset, because he couldve incapacitated all of them at once.
@@theredmistiscoming609 Jane's power is strongest among the Volturi in terms of offensive strength. She can only focus on one target at a time, but her powers work instantly.
Whereas Alec's "numbing" gift takes minutes to take effect, that's why his targets must be either distracted or bound for his powers to work effectively. Plus, his powers are tactical, so it's useless in a one-on-one fight.

I absolutely loved the Twilight books. They gave so much more information and background about the characters. But I must admit that the movie's version of the final fight scene being vision was simply terrific, and much more satisfying than in the book

I remember the whole theater being quiet as this fight played out (exception when the earth was split, Carlile died, and when Jane died), only to erupt in multiple "WTF" "OMG WHAT?" and "You're Fcking joking" when the fight concluded. I was so salty myself, but impressed with how much tension I had during the fight.

It was strange in the book that Aro knew more about the nature of the Children of the Moon (the wolf shifters) than Caius did. It would have been nice to have heard more about that in the movies.

That's not really what I pointed out. He knew they were not werewolves in the book and discussed it. The movie departed from that fact. In the book, he educated Caius how they were not the werewolves that the Volturi had warred with in the past and were instead a race of shapeshifters. The Volturi, and especially Caius, who was nearly killed in a fight with a werewolf, would have been less forgiving, had they been werewolves. @@VDA19
When we realise it was just Alice's premonition.... My favorite part is when Aro says "Such a bride" and they all turn to walk away... I just love this sequel ❤

Anyone stop to think that Aro just stood back and watched ALL of his MAJOR PLAYERS get annihilated to the point where he finally decides to step in? Like, for someone who is obsessed with power, you'd think you'd be in the thick of it? Making sure you can still keep someone close to you? Seeing as, aside from the sheer numbers he had alone, assuming the Cullens had the same exact number, all of the Volturi would have been killed? Stephanie Meyer did say that in the end, the Volturi would have won because of their numbers alone, but I'm like, had the Cullens had the same exact number and Aro sat back and watched them take out all of his special people, death would have been certain not just for him, but for ALL of them. But I do get why he stood off. Had he even remotely attempted to get into the battle everyone would have went for him too.

I remember when this whole fight happened we were all in shambles. A lot of we’re fans of the books before we saw the movies. We thought almost all the favorite characters wer dying. The whole theater was mostly quite during this. Except we all cheered when Arno died. We were all so happy when we realized it was just a vision of what could happen.😅😂

Say whatever you want about how 'bad' or 'cringe' this entire franchise is, but this film, made the entire cinema literally gasped at the end. I have only seen this collective reaction in cinema once more in my life and that was the ending of The Final Destination. This entire scene was a masterpiece.

I thought the beginning of the "fight" was stupid, but this surpassed it tremendously.
Honestly out of all the deaths here Leas was the saddest, she watched her brother die and then gave her life for a vampire her sworn enemies. But Esme showed her kindness and saving her life was repayment enough.
I remember seeing this in this theaters, yes as a man I did. Along with my grandmother and sister, I can’t even remember why beyond just finishing out the series

as far as I know, it went like this. It was all just an Alice's vision shared to Aro.
The books didn't have or show a vision, because they are told from Bella's perspective. They literally talked it out. Everything that was said shown in the movie happened and then some more or less, but we didn't get a fake out fight depiction.

In the book, this never happened since it was on Bella's perspective as someone said in the comment. And since Edward could read everyone's thoughts, after they went home, he told Bella that Aro was afraid to let a fight break out between the Volturi and them since they are fighting against Bella's shield and one of the Amazons who can literally blind everyone. It was Bella's power together with the Amazon's they were afraid of.
