I’m so happy!❤ Literally wrote in the Dovima video asking to please do Sarah xx

Before Whitney and Aretha, there was Sarah Vaughn. That operatic voice!
Anita Baker was heavily influenced by Vaughan.
@@GarwinWayne Directly, yep.
@aphillyate1, it was proven by way of a television commercial that the late Ms. Ella "Queen of Jazz" Fitzgerald could break a glass with the sound of her voice back in the 1970's. 📺 🎶 🎵
I'm 63. I grew up listening to Sarah Vaughn. I was blessed to see Sarah Vaughn in concert and Ella Fitzgerald in concert back in 1989. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Sarah's passing not long after I had been to her concert. When I saw Ella, she was frail, had to be helped out onto the stage, and sang the whole concert while seated. Later, she had a leg amputated due to diabetes and passed a few years after that. Amazing that even in poor health, these ladies were phenomenal. Both ladies' voices were a gift from God to them and to us. RIP. 🧡🧡🙏🙏
When style, talent & sophistication mattered . . .
Truly! You can say that again.
Miss Vaughn was a SOPHISTICATED beauty. ❤
@@rainicascadia5514 WHY ARE Y'ALL COMING HERE TO BE NEGATIVE. ARE Y'ALL THAT MISERABLE?
@user-if1uu9pg6z How waa she being negative?
She’s not being negative.
My favorite Sarah Vaughn song is, "Someone to Watch Over Me." Her voice and range is unbelievable!
That's a gorgeous song.
My favorite was "Broken Hearted Melody" 😊
My favorite is Fly Me to the Moon. Look up the live version. She sends me every time with that live version.
My late uncle attended high school with the Late Sarah Vaughn and Edward Koch. Sarah Vaughn ALWAYS expressed saying that She was Newark NJ and 'PROUD of IT. May she continue too rest in peace.
These poor women back then gave men too much power. Just to be ruined financially smh just think of all the money she would have had if she had the right person around her
Exactly 😢 like it’s always the same story. All their money just used up and they die in poverty smh
Because of a man smh love can be a helluva drug
😅@@cocobrown3549
There are women still give over their power today. Amazing how the wrong partner can drag you down.
Women still give power to men today and they will continue to do so ... what do you mean? Guess who invented OnlyFans, last time i checked, it wasn`t a woman😁
I loved Sarah Vaughn's voice...silk
Sarah had perfect pitch. Newark, NJ really honors her as well as Whitney Houston.
As they should! EXCELLENT vocalists.
Her Voice was OTHER WORLDLY!!!❤❤❤
HE KEPT THAT MONEY.
EXACTLY!!! I would lose it smh
@@KarineAlourde YOU?! US!❤️
I saw her at a supper club in Chicago called “George’s” in the 80’s. My friend and I still talk about it. 🔥🔥🔥
She was my mother's favorite, I patterned my singing style slightly after her. I met her once at the Copa Cabana Night Club in N.Y.C. I was singing upstairs in the lounge. In my opinion, nobody sings better than her 🎉💖👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Yes! Sarah was so great that's it's impossible to sing like her, let alone duplicate her style, no way!
During the final days of my father’s life, we sat and listened to Sarah Vaughan. Ms. Vaughan’s music holds a special place in my heart💜🌹🎶
Excellent report. May she rest in peace forever.
Those vintage photoshoots are exactly that. Vintage👌💯

I stand by my response.
She’s my favorite voice of that era I promise!!!!
I love love love her version of the song Misty💐💐💐💐
That’s me and my sons favorite songs of hers too
She was a genius innovator with everything she did with her voice and the songs she made her own.
I was just listening to her all day today. Her voice is magical ❤
Jill Scott said that one day before she became known to the masses Sarah's voice entered the room and she had not turned on the radio. 'Ancestor Power "!!
I used to sing jazz , funky blues...in the lical clubs.
I was mesmorized with Sarah Vaghun's style. Her voice was an astounding instrument. So perfect.
One night while at a local club I was ask to sit im for a number. I did Midnight Sun. The band claimed they didnt know that one. smh.
So, I did Midnight Sun A capella.
Got a standing ovation for it.
I have many favorites by Sarah. She's so awesome. But Midnight Sun ....her rendition is my absolute favorite.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Sarah Vaughn taught me how to sing jazz. The very first song I learned was "Lullaby of Birdland." I've been singing it on repeat for YEARS! I love her dearly. ❤ thanks for sharing your experience. It moved me to mention my own 😊

My mother played her music, and Ms. Vaughn’s rendition of ‘Send in the Clowns’ is a master class in vocal dexterity and control.

Love Ms. Vaughn her voice was Enchanting i love when she sings Misty live. She tells the audience that she has a bit of a cold but my god when she sings it like what cold. She hits every note with ease.
We share the same birthday🥰, what a beautiful, unforgettable voice she had.🌺🪷🌹🌸🌷
My mother birthday 1956
Sarah's voice was exquisite!! She is a singer's singer...Anita, Regina, Miki, they've all credited her and her vocal influence. I think she's a product of her time. Many women were dealing w/patriarchy...she acted on what she knew and sought love from men who could've represented her father. But that voice is magnificently timeless 💐 💐 🌹
Great video!
She Had Beautiful Skin 💐💐💐💐
In regards to her men mishandling her money, especially the first one, did you know women weren't able to have their own bank accounts until the 60s? And can you imagine a full adult who has become accustomed to a certain lifestyle all of a sudden finally being put in charge of their own money? We have come a long way as women but still very far to go.
Seventies, around 1974, the credit act passed, and women were allowed to have their own credit lines 😢
Are you serious.? I had no idea😢
That’s a very good point that many people aren’t aware of
@@tonyabelton4533If that's true it's certainly interesting but it still sucks that women back then let men have that much control over their finances. I mean even today it's still a thing and it's just as sad either way.
Around 10 or so years ago I was talking in general about how a woman should always have her own stash even/especially if married. My Mama said you'd be smart to do so. And I just recently learned about the Credit Act. So even if Sarah Vaughan had been surrounded by supportive women, a man would have still been in control.
Sarah was one of the vocal divas played in my parents’ house as early as I can recall. I actually saw her perform at the Blue Note and Orchestra Hall. Growing up surrounded by the voices and musicians of my youth make me lament for what our pop music is today.
Very knowledgeable about Sassy. Her singing was beautiful. And yep got faves. Her Misty Live in Stockholm is a treat to hear. The More I see you, The More I Love You. Send in the Clowns. among many. Now, I don't know about no €oke habit. But with all she had to deal with, are you surprised? These folks are open targets to all kinds of funky folks and energy.
🌻🌻🥀🥀 Fav songs Moonlight in Vermont, Midnight Sun, Dreamsville, Happiness is Just a Thing Called Joe, Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars). It's Magic, Tenderly, Misty, Passing Strangers...with good friend Billy Eckstine. Lullaby of Birdland- her scat improv lets loose!! A contralto with a range of three octaves, the phrasing is flawless, rich, controlled vibrato . She reimagined many Jazz standards. @KarineAlourde, thank you. She nevers gets the shine she rightfully deserves. Like you said she couldn't be boxed in. Her flexibility as a performer allowed her to crossover from behop to jazz.. She could sing Rogers and Hart to Jobim to Quincy Jones what artistry. RIP The Divine One...SASSY

Sarah Vaughan isn't talked about enough compared to other Jazz greats like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. I love Sarah Vaughan. My favorite song of hers is "Misty". And I love "Tenderly". I would like to see a biopic on her.
💥I'm Wayne Lewis from the Pop/RnB group, "Atlantic Starr". My uncle Belton Evans was a, medium famous drummer, who played for Count Basie, Joe Williams, and many others, including Sarah Vaughn. I was just listening to Ms. Baker acapella today and had to replay and replay again. She touched the notes like an angel.
Hello Ms. Alourde. Have you or will you give consideration to providing an email that you wouldn’t mind sharing? I've known about the fabulous Sarah Vaughn, her graceful carriage and her sensitive demeanor, nearly all of my life. She was one of the world's greatest voices and greatest artists. She is truly worthy of taking her place in history among the divine. Thank you for showing your thoughtful respect.
I attended the same high school in Newark (years apart) as The Divine One, Miss Sassy, and knew friends/family of hers. Always loved her music, and proud that she was from my hometown, Newark NJ. I Remember the day she passed away, received a call while at work from a friend. I cried. So many sad stories about our Black female singers and actresses. I remember listening to her records as a child.
I HAVE LOVED HER MUSIC SINCE I WAS 15 YEARS OLD, I'M NOW 67 !!!
My favorite song was her rendition of “If I were a bell”.
One critic in Downbeat magazine said she had the talent of having near perfect diction and the ability to slur notes like a drunken sailor. I think that summed it up nicely.
