@NickTheGreek0410 Yeah, that's the point of checking... if the tire is flat because of a leak or needs to replace the tire therefore the tire should be ready for trip
@NickTheGreek0410 yes if I'm going to be in the interstate going to Vegas or a 4 hour plus trip 🤦🏽♂️ the whole point of checking is if the tire needed to be used during trips the tire won't need air because the tire is ready to perform
Change air filter 2-3 times a year. Holy shit thats a waste of money. Unless you live in an area with dusty roads or something I would just do it every 10-20k. Use an air compressor to blow it out a little if you want. Everything else though is pretty solid advise.
Definitely don't just put water in the coolant. Water should only be used as a last resort. For example, you forgot to fill it before a long trip and your car overheats at midnight when all the stores are closed.
Play with your instrument cluster, or check the owners manual. Most cars from the last 10 years will have its own oil life counter which you can reset after an oil change.
Unfortunately for me, my dad never was a car buff. But he did teach me the importance of reading, working hard, and figuring things out on my own. So now I will learn all about cars and teach my kids one day.
Gotta say, those are solid advice for anyone. Sadly, in this westernized culture that is trying to diminish our unique role as men and fathers in our society, these sorts of words of wisdom is sorely needed.
Horse crap on the 3-5k oil changes. Modern oils last 7500 miles, synthetic oils are good for a minimum of 10k miles. My 2006 vibe has 310k on 10k oil changes, Has never been opened up for repairs.
Big thing you missed here is if you need to top up your coolant you have a leak. Don't just top it up, find the source or take it to a shop so they can pressure teag it for you. Coolant should not go down, it is in a sealed system so somthing is wrong..
Some coolant systems naturally evaporate fluid and or will have a automatic release for it. Just because you’re topping it off once or twice year doesn’t mean anything when it comes to if its leaking or not.
Pay once cry once. Use high quality oil filter napa gold is same as Hastings, run royal purple oil for gas. Diesel motor run Valvoline premium blue or rotella t6.

3-5k is from the 80s. It's 7.5-10k miles, and sometimes up to 15k. Just check fluid levels regularly and use good oil. They make universal coolant that can be used and mixed with any make, model and color.
If you actually read the recommendations from your car’s manufacturer and if they recommend a 10k oil change dig deeper a lot of them will have a fine print stating only change oil every 10k miles if you drive At least 55 miles per day otherwise change more frequently at the 6 month mark for most. Most people Don’t qualify for a 10k oil change but still do it one of the reasons new cars don’t last as long as the old ones.
Oil at 5k and air filter once a year is fine. If you drive a fwd you definitely want to rotate your tires because you’ll end up with work or front tires and brand new rears instead of even tires all around.
@@emmanuelalva6597 I don't know anyone who rotates their tires. Just replace them in pairs when they need it. And oil and filters once a year at the service.
@@markmckenzie1686 it’s been a basic standard for the past century. Manufacturers only say their engines can go 10k miles without an oil change so the car grenades right when the warranty is over.

@jadenrosenberg. right, because mechanics know best right? (Hint: they don't get paid until they work on your car). Independent lab analysis and engineers disagree with your claim.
You also forgot about checking your spare tire before a long trip

Even with electric cars they're not rotating tires and those don't require oil changes.
Rotating your tires is stupid.

Air filter twice a year? No. That's ridiculous

Air filter 2-3 times a year?!!! Hellllll no dad
Ahhh Scotty Kilmer says not
Necessary to rotate tires. He’s the car mechanic god. Sorry dad
As long as you don’t have a worn out suspension part, and your alignment is good, rotating your tires doesn’t much of a difference on the longevity.
Unfortunately for me, my dad never was a car buff. But he did teach me the importance of reading, working hard, and figuring things out on my own. So now I will learn all about cars and teach my kids one day.
Don't go to Napa, they'll price gouge the hell out of you. Rockauto is the place to go!

Loving the advice on your channel.
I don’t think any of these boomers have heard of synthetic oils before since they’re all still recommending changing oil that frequently

At last some good advice ,stop watching politics and learn some basic skills,I love it.Thankyou.

Change air cleaner a couple times a year? oh its sponsored by NAPA.
Change air filters 2 or 3 times looks too much to me unless you’re living somewhere n a very dusty place. I rather to do it once a year.
Oh! Napa Auto Parts. Was that a subliminal advertisement?
Sounds like you just read a list that you were given…
because 2 or 3 of those are completely unnecessary
Can you plz teach us how to drive skillfully
I believe I can learn it from a Dad only
DO NOT change your oil every 3 to 5k miles. What a waste of money.
Not all napa auto parts is accommodating in providing customer service.
Thank you for the advice
What about changing the oil filter
Great advice. I will add check the coolant while the motor is cooled off. Don't open the radiator cap while its hot.
Would you do a video about if and how to clean your back up camera? Any thoughts would be helpful and appreciated!
Napa is for auto parts, Sonoma is for wine.
Thanks dad:)
How do you set a trip meter

3-5k mile oil change is for conventional oil. Modern synthetics with a decent filter will go double that

A lot of battery retailers will test it for free. You’re probably close to the end of its reliable life but it could also go another couple years.

that’s only on some new cars, and almost every mechanic recommends against waiting that long. For basically every engine, 5k should be the maximum
