To be fair, in the Lotus 94c you did set a faster lap time than the one in the 1967 monaco GP
Not only was the Lotus 49C not around in 1967, the track has had multiple changes since then (although overall the changes have made the track slower), making comparisons pointless.

Time trial is a great way to learn the track, learn the car, and refine your setup. Usually for F1 2016 I'll spend about 2 hours in time trial, an hour and a half in free practice, full qualy, and all that just for a half distance race. In other games with wildly varying cars and tracks I don't know properly it could be multiples of that. I'm not a great driver but I do like doing things properly. For realism fans out there time trial is also a good way to imagine the pre-race simulations. Drivers will spend weeks on the simulator and computers will crunch numbers constantly to get a setup before the weekend. That way you don't waste the first session or two on nonsense. Time trial doesn't include the car's R&D and has different weather but I feel that helps emulate the inaccuracies of the simulator's modelling and weather forecast.
This could be a classic. Ben vs Classic Cars, Ben vs Jeff, Ben cutting corners like s**t (what was that at the Loews!!!) and then trying to bottle it. Best video of 2017, by far hahahahah
Yes, that Renault RS01 takes ages to get up to speed. Actually, it was the first "turbo" F1 car, and at that time (1977), turbo lag was a HUGE problem, with drivers complaining that sometimes it takes 4 or 5 seconds before the turbo starts spinning, making the car undriveable. Couple that with an epicly unreliable engine, and it took two years and a new "twin smaller turbos" (instead of one mamoth turbo like in the RS 01) layout before Renault was able to clinch the first "turbo" win in Formula One.

don't forget ! if you get all the golds time in every racetrack you can unlock the jerez racetrack. and if I remember correctly you can do it with any team in the game
the reason the renault is that difficult with the power is because it is the first turbo engine... so power is only in high revs and in low the engine is very poor. It s very like it was in the early 80s.
If you have all times gold around al tracks you get the classic Williams of 1996 ... So try to get gold at all tracks with 2006 cars ;)
in f1 2017, there should be a feature if your car gets stuck in the gravel trap, your out of the race

F1 2009 was only out on Wii and PSP so I don't think he will play it he will need to purchase a whole new console only to play 1 game

Hi Ben. If you become World Champion you will get Fangios classic car from 1950. If you do Time Trial with the 2006 cars and complete every track on bronze, silver and gold you will get the '78 and '96 Williams cars and the classic Jerez track.
One does not simply hate classic F1. They're gorgeous and very fun to drive. Especially with an H-shifter.

The renault rs01 was one of the first turbocharged formula 1 cars in the 1970s. Its quite slow because of turbo lag.

Thankfully I can drive the Classic Cars in the F1 games and the other racing sims. Those are so much more fun to drive than the modern cars and you had H-Pattern Shift with Clutch.

Honestly...the Ring wasn't that bad in GPL, Rouen always scared the crap out of me, and I never really clicked with Monaco, I always wound up in a lamp post or a hay bale.

I unlocked the Jerez track and all the cars on the PSP when I was a pro in the game. Now I've lost practise and I crash every race :(

3:19 but it's basically crash team racing. but on real life and using f1 cars instead of karts, and the characters are f1 drivers instead of CTR characters.
Next time try the Lotus, it has ground effects and you should be able to corner faster and without slipping away like in the other pre-90ies classic cars.

The black lotus is a car which I like to use but it doesn't have assist so that is why those are spinning
Classic cars in F1 2006 were... Okay? I guess... The handling wasn't realistic but it did give a sense of how delicately you needed to be with them.
F1 2013's classic cars were better with handling and such... But the core 2013 stuff had horrible handling, so oversteery even out of corners, felt like the RWD 70's rally cars from Dirt Rally rather than Formula 1 cars...
Can't wait for the classics coming in F1 2017!!! Hopefully the handling will be great! :D

Some of the open wheel cars are undrivable on Project Cars....but these cars in real life were hard to drive no assists or much safety tbh!
