Hey peeps! So we've been getting a lot of comments about how the Entry 17 we referred to is different than the Entry 17 that The Game Theorists talked about in their video.
I want to mention that there are two Entry 17s listed in the game files. A "regular" one that fits in with Alphys' Entries throughout True Lab (which we referenced), and the "gaster" one written in wingdings (referenced by GT).
Sorry for not mentioning it in the video! Ya'll are quite attentive :)

That's very interesting. This was a great video. I love theories about games in general, but especially about Undertale. There's something about it's no-so-clear background and mysteries that just make it fascinating.

Well, GT uses the "its just a theory" to coerce his fanboys to his defence when he is wrong, whilst saying "FACTS" "TRUTH" "SOLVED" in the title and/or thumbnail... So not that one.

Jacob Jett There are two different entry 17s. One is written in Wing Dings and the other is the one shown in the video.
One written by Alphys, the other (original) written by W.D Gaster.

Something about a soul - it's possible that every soul is determination. The other souls all had determination extracted from them by Alphys, but if they're not souls with determination as a trait, how does that work? I think the determination was extracted from them, and their main personality trait were all that remained.
Thanks to "the Orange book" which explains how monsters work: 10:30 , which therefor explains why Asgore isn't the hardest boss in the game.

So a soul is made of magic, I got to that conclusion a long, long time ago. But, he completely forgot about the of the soul traits that aren't determination. Or are other types, which causes the problem of what kind of determination does Frisk have? Do they have determination, determination.

This makes sense. Monsters are very diverse, coming in every size and shape. This is presumably because each monster would look different than their parents due to being different people. Humans bodies are more seperate from their SOULs, so their appearance is down only to genetics, not what they are like as a person. For example, sans and Papyrus, despite being brothers, look very different. Papyrus is tall and closely resembles an actual human skeleton, whereas sans is shorter, and simply wouldn't fit as a human skeleton.
Does this mean that Papyrus is more like Undying? More like a human? He has a great level of DETERMINATION! For making spageti and puzzles :D

grober wong flowey stole the human souls AND monster souls, meaning that he also took back his own soul from the after life, that's how he came back as asriel.

Nope, thats WD Gasters personal entry, the real entry 17, you know, the one by the person actually writing the damn entries, is Alphys's entry 17.
Matpat made a mistake using Gasters version, and not the "real" Alphy's... the one about the darkness is clearly from Gaster, from HIS timeline, perhaps a fragment of him that was "shattered"... in other words, one of the many pieces of HIS timeline, found lost deep in the game.
The REAL entry 17 from THIS timeline is written by Alphys like all the others.
He spelled "guard" wrong at the intro...

NoArtisticLimitation In the game theory episode that came out earlier today MatPat stated that the lowercase hand writing is Sans. If you want to understand fully it's best if you go watch it. If you want to watch it, it's called :The many sides of Gaster EXPOSED.

Uh, you do realise that was utter BS... right?
The reason it was lower case is because its all part of the SAME log, just the next screen, y'know, because you can only fit so much on one screen of text, y'know, how EVERY piece of dialogue is handled in these games.
Anyone who ISNT sans or papyrus follows usual rules with text, and with ALL the dialogue in the game, when the screen is filled and goes to the next "page" of text, its handled merely as a continuation of said text.
Thinking the text logs was from sans is shear asinine logic.
Its Alphys's log, just the continuation of that log... duh.
For shame on Matpat for that one, that was just... painful.

MysteriousStranger50 - As someone who doesn't actually play Undertale (which I already pointed out and mentioned why I don't) all my information comes from youtube, and I was just asking a question "did she write all those notes?" because I wasn't certain. I do not appreciate people "pointing out the obvious" simply because I made an observation and asking a question I wasn't sure of the answer to.
That would be like if you saw a video about Teen Titans and you asked why there were several Ravens, so I told you it's OBVIOUS they were in her MIND at the time.
All I saw was that they clicked on a log and it started with "no no no no no" in lower case, so I asked a simple question. I never once said that it was Sans, and neither did the other person (they said Matpat stated it, not them), I just said that it would make sense the way it was put in the video.
As for dialogue boxes themselves, I know their limitations, I make games (among other things). Usually they are just a few lines long... But they can also be longer or shorter as you please... But that's moving off-topic now.
In short, please don't treat people like idiots for their differing opinions and lack of knowledge. It just makes you come across as an argumentative and unapproachable person.
I think I've pointed out everything I can think of at this point, so I'm going to leave this comment section now. Maybe you were just having a bad day, or maybe your comment was taken the wrong way to how you meant for it to sound, I'm not sure... I am scared now of Undertale and I just before this theory watched matpats theory on Undertale about gaster and now I am scared.
Frisk is very much like a monster in this regard. Frisk only does what we, the player, wants him to do. Frisk doesn't have any determination - that determination comes from us. In turn, our particular determination affects how the game plays out.
I always wondered how did all the other souls that fell down to the underground. Did not die. (Except determination )
Is soylent compact magic? Will it melt me down like monsters with determination?!?!?!?

If human souls have Determination, and Frisk's soul power is "Determination" then Frisk and Chara has double power of determination... while the Patient soul has 50% Patience and 50% Determination... Frisk and Chara has 100% determination... the purple soul "perseverance" would be 50% perseverance and 50% determination... but perseverance is another word for determination... so is it 50% perseverance and 50% determination or 100% determination?

Around the 13 minute mark, you stated that unlike Monster Souls, Human Souls would make plans and stick to them no matter the cost. That made me think, "what about Asgore?" He made a plan to save his people which involved killing 7 Humans and (almost) stuck to it to conclusion. That must have taken some serious determ- WAIT A SECOND! Does Asgore have Determination like Humans and even like Undyne?
"stick" to it, get it. Both the bandage and the stick are found in frisk, because someone who is determined will stick to what they are doing.

Holy crap. In the true genocide run, you fight undyne, and as you progress further in the battle, she begins to repeat: "I will not give up" and "I am determined". In the end she melts, then dies. This perfectly fits with the "entry 17" thing. Idk I'm not exactly a theorist like the amazing people at treesicle, but I think this is a pretty solid theory.
