I got teary-eyed when you talked about not having a safe space at home! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for mentioning it, I haven't heard anyone else talk about it! I had a home like this, I live on my own now, but in these times the urge to fall back in old behaviours/patterns or to reach out to toxic people is sometimes overwhelming. Like I said I'm lucky that I don't live at home anymore and my thoughts are with the ones that do ❤️ Again: thank you and for all the ones who need it, I send you a virtual hug, we can do it ❤️

What I learned that prevented me from feeling like an absolute slob and get nothing done is: PUT REAL CLOTHES ON!!! For me that is not Loungewear or Sportswear even though it is very comfortable, I just know I have to feel pretty to feel like myself.
What also helps me is not to overschedule. I'm very prone to do that. So just take one to two things that need to get done that day and if anything else also gets done too, that's great!

I'm Italian and I've been at home for weeks now: except for walking (which is not allowed here, unless you need to go grocery shopping) I'm quite busy and I'm used to work from home, therefore quarantine doesn't bother me too much.
Last week I had a Skype interview and a couple of days later I've been offered a PhD position!
Still last week I launched my first official website for a client; I've accomplished way more than usual this month!
Sure, we're living tough days but we can use our time wisely and take advantage of technology. Please stay safe and thank you!

Social distancing made me realized I hardly ever call my grandma. Because we live in the same city, I always see her once in a while. So I've just got off the phone with her, and it was really nice to just actively call her to tell her I miss her and to take care.

For “DIY” ideas- get around to those little annoying tasks that are continually on your to-do list. For me, that is: organizing things such as reducing paper clutter, sewing projects, cleaning things, finishing the grout on our kitchen backsplash 😅, reading books that I’ve held onto forever but never read, etc. Also, completely agree with the Ghibli marathon and walking more.

My housemate and I had a PowerPoint party this evening, we set a timer and had to make to silliest PowerPoint presentation we possibly could. Mine was ranking cat breeds, I’m pretty proud of it actually 😹 my housemate compared fonts to types of people. We had a good night.

I have a weird self-isolating situation because I'm mid 30s but living with my parents after a messy breakup and crappy mental health meant I needed some respite last year. I was just planning on moving out when all this happened, and now it's seems sensible to stay put for the foreseeable future. It's a tough dynamic here, so it's a tricky time. I'm in a much more fortunate position than many, but staying mentally healthy will be a challenge. Thank goodness for the internet!

I‘m german and my partner is Austrian but I live at the moment in Australia for a couple more years and my boyfriend was planning on visiting me here in Australia for the whole April, we were even able to change his flight to an earlier one to make sure he can at least be with me during that time, but then all the borders shut. So I was pretty shattered about those news and I’m still sad. But hey it helps so much knowing there are so many other couples in the same situation and others who are in much more difficult life situations. Thanks for this lovely community !

I'm so lucky I live in a rural area, it makes such a difference to be able to open my back door, let some fresh air in and listen to the birds. I have a big veggie garden so am getting ready to grow my own food, as much as my health allows.
I also have a craft room full of fabric, yarn, paint etc, a library full of books that are waiting to be read and eight pets so I'll have plenty to occupy me in the coming months.
And I'm a loner, always have been. I love my own company so for me isolating myself is easy.
My heart goes out to all of you who are struggling with being cooped up indoors. Mind yourself everyone xxx
PS: Studio Ghibli films marathon is a must. They are beautiful.

Hi Anna, I’m from a rural area too. My partner and I live in the wilderness in northern Canada. It is still cold and there is two feet of snow on the ground but we go out for a walk every morning. We scope for wildlife and birds that are slowly starting to return. Lately we have been seeing a pair of moose. It is fun to watch them grazing in the snow. We also love to play with the dog outside. Although we will not be putting in our garden and greenhouse for two more months we are really looking forward to it. This year in particular it will be so great to grow our own produce once again (we cannot get much produce in the grocery store in this current circumstance). All of these outdoor activities are keeping us sane right now. My heart goes out to people who are stuck indoors... keep busy and take care of yourself.

I am also in a rural area, am working from home, as are my neighbors, and their kids are home too. There are 5 houses over 1 mile, and the houses are set back from the road, but not hidden far in the woods. Anyway, I am still trying to get in 10000 steps, and have a loop that takes me past these houses and have had the odd experience of more social interaction with my neighbors, who like me are usually at work, than I ever have. This is yelling short conversations from 100 feet away, but we are checking in.

Hi ☺ I'm from Poland. Today is my 5th day in self isolation. It's getting harder every hour. I miss my University and normal classes where we talk &discuss. Today one of my Professors tried Zoom class. It was nice to hear others. I'm living with my 62yo Mom, who I love deeply but have some family issues. She's irritated coz being in high risk group isn't easy for her mental health. I'm having a lot of net studying. Writing papers etc. Not used to be 10-11h a day using laptop... 9 more days... But uni is closed to the end of April. Thank you a lot for those latest videos, you're saving my mental health 🥰🧡

for socializing online I would also suggest Discord, which is like a modern skype, as well as VRChat. VRchat is free on steam and you don't need VR gear in order to use it. There are also movies you can sit and watch together on it, like a movie theatre. if a lot of you like Minecraft, buying a realm for multi-platforms for a month or two is a great way to hang out and chill out.

I live and work in the residence halls which have been closed down so I've effectively been evicted and laid off. I realized today that it's been 14 days since they closed uni and I've been really stuck at home for 9 days now. I live with flatmates, my family is in another country. Over the last week I've broken down crying more than 3 times, the feeling of helplessness to do anything about this and yet the weight of the responsibility to stay at home and not put others at possible risk is so heavy, I feel panicky and anxious everyday. I don't quite know who to talk to since everyone is going through this and I at least have the luxury to live in a room alone and focus on uni work and keep busy. There's no real point to this comment, I'm just glad I could vent a little bit. Thank you for that.

Awesome words of wisdom in this video Immy! Perhaps this is the time to go back to basics. What did we all learn as young children... create, play, make healthy snacks, read & write, tidy up after yourself, move your body, enjoy music, draw & colour, play games, think of others, and to share! Perhaps this sounds a bit trite, but I believe there is a reason as to why these were our first lessons in life. PS - my partner and I are having a Crib Tournament. Games are scheduled for the mornings and I have recently been reminded that two of life’s biggest pleasures are coffee and crib. (Maybe I am only saying this because I am currently winning 😜)

The small kitchen is well organized and both hubby and I work together prepping meals and nut milk. We both exercise for minimum one hour every day, with me using my fit bit to see that I move several hours each day. We are taking two courses online as we travel, now that we have a WeBoost for cellular signal and we tether to our computer. I released a video yesterday on a bunch of ways to nerd out and work only with your mind. Here are a few things I like to do: create a professional journal (like a long cv but with your emotions and feelings including how you felt at interviews, and what questions they asked--which could be useful for future interviews, create imaginary meals on paper by taking an inventory and looking at what you have and sort of ration things out, take free online courses on Coursera because you can link it to your LinkedIn account, EdX, Masterclass---you can take courses with authors, playing pretend in your head where you imagine it's The Great Depression, or something fun but historical. Write down dreams and/or interpretations. Go on Ancestry websites and create a family tree! That's really fun too. :) Podcasts and drawing. Great video, I need to focus more on the physical stuff...

I heard (and fact-checked) that there is someone stuck between the Finnish and Russian border. They had a short visa to visit Finland, but when they tried to return to Russia, they didn't get to enter the country, because they weren't a Russian citizen. (They are someone working there) What a difficult situation. I hope the border control will handle it like civilized adults, and arrange a place for them to go. You can't just leave a person there. This occured because Russia closed its borders one day earlier than Finland. To enter Finland right now, you need a permanent stay visa or citizenship. To enter Russia, you need citizenship. This person simply wasn't aware that there would be such serious restrictions. The borders were closed with a very short notice.

We are watching studio Ghibli movies as well! We also started watching all the James Bond movies in order, but had to stop since the libraries closed last week (and we were renting them there). The MET opera is streaming a different pre-recorded opera every day for free on their website. Not sure if you can watch them in every country, but it is definitely worth checking out.

Thank you for your tips. I was starting to lose my motivation to keep my day structured at home. I got very motivated by your video! And I can totally relate to your dilemma not being able to see you boyfriend. Same here, though mine lives closer, but still a closed border inbetween. Let's cross fingers that borders won't be closed for all too long!! Thanks you today's video!! Will check out your Instagram 😊

I am sooo enjoying the quarantine:))) finally have time to read, study, do everything I wanted to do for a while (that doesn’t require leaving the house) but didn’t have enough time or energy. Also as an introvert I def have enough time to properly recharge now. Am I the only one?))

In Italy schools have been closed for three weeks now and we can only walk keeping maximum a 200 meters distance from home. I've been reading a lot, I've been baking, making candles with scraps of other candles, cleaning, drawing and studying. I'm running out of hobbies.

Another great video Immy! Thank you! Learn something new... Key for me! I'm finally able to sit down and learn to use the sowing machine... As per this week I now have 29 cloth wipes from an old towel! Soooo satisfying, and sustainable, and if the toilet paper doesn't reappear, these will also be handy there... LOL

I live in Germany and my state has just gone into quarantine and due to fears of not being able to reenter the country (I'm here on a student visa), I've canceled my trip back home to the United States, which means I won't get to see my husband for the foreseeable future because we don't know how long things will get drawn out. I can feel for you! It's tough being cooped up and not getting to spend time with the ones you love.

A very long series to be found on Netflix is "Pablo Escobar, El patron del mal", it's a documentary-series with lots of reliable information and very few fictionalized elements about one of the most powerful drug dealers the world has seen. It's sad to know that it all happened for real, but being aware of what happens to humanity makes us more self-conscious!

Yay, that's awesome you are learning French, Immy! 😃 I second the idea of using this time to learn a new language. There are tons of online resources and apps to help beginners. Last week I started my journey of learning Japanese!! It is mentally challenging, engaging, and fun. As I progress, I'm going to be using the free app HelloTalk to get connected with ppl around the world and practice speaking/listening skills. 😊

I wish I could social distance and self isolate. I'm immune compromised from past chemotherapy, diabetes, COPD, asthma and taking care of an elderly disabled mother and yet I've been on the front lines of the fear buying and hoarding rush. 9+ hrs a day of insanity. It hasn't slowed down except the 30 minutes before we close our store. so grateful for videos to fill my day.

RE DIY : be mindful that stores for diy supplies are very busy and might best be avoided at this time. And before picking up bigger projects, consider that waste facilities are overloaded with diy waste and masses of people showing up to rid themselves of diy waste (to the point of closing down). It's best to only pick up projects that create small amounts of waste or allow you to dispose of waste at a later date.

I'm having a hard time because I have to go home in the middle of my year studying abroad with only 3 days to dissolve an entire household. Right now I have to get rid of things I'd have kept otherwise and I can't hand them down because no one wants them. I have gone to a second hand shop too but they are really picky. Today is a national holiday so most stores are closed. Back home everybody is supposed to stay home. I'm trying to be positive as best as I can since everybody is going through sth similar and it's important to focus on what you have. :)

Try to have a calm discussion of the facts. Friday we went to sleep in the u.s. with 85 recorded dead from the virus. By the end of day yesterday the u.s. had 150 deaths. That means we had 43% of u.s. deaths in just .08% of the time the infection has been here. Talk about the facts that make this different than H1N1. Like having no one immune from covid, but about 1/3rd of individuals were at least partially immune which meant less consequences. Be calm, measured, and accurate. Maybe they still won't take it seriously, but the facts are currently available that show why some people are taking this seriously.
