As a long time music educator, lover and teacher of jazz, and with this being one of my all time favorite songs let me just say.... you are my new hero!!! AMAZING.
my online ukulele teacher and I just had a BLAST analyzing your strum patterns on this-- and everything else! thank you so much for your incredible and inspiring work! (those slides? that reverberation?? the mixing of the song's notes and chords on one playthrough? even more?!?! blown away!)
Man, I'd love to see you do videos for each of the songs in the duets book.

Sure, if I had an expensive uke, studied music theory, had amazing dexterity, flexibility and rythm, played for years, and loved what I did, I could play that song too. Ok, not as well though.
I've only been playing the uke for a couple of years, but you have definitely opened a universe of possibilities for this unassuming musical instrument. I adore it.

I've been working my way though "Duets For One" and absolutely love it. It has really helped me learn a whole new style of playing and it is a joy to incorporate it in my other songs. Very cool to see you play it, as it is one of the songs I play most from that collection

This song looks deceptively easy when you play but I find it sooooooo hard. I feel like i have both gigantic and very weak fingers ... especially that damn pinkie! Absolutely LOVE this song!
Yea, nothing this guy plays is easy. He is definitely one of the best out there (I am not saying this because I personally know him. I truly think that objectively).

Brilliant but how do you play that amin7 in bar 10? ½ barre with your 2nd finger?!
I know some basic music theory, played the piano for a few years and I want to know how do I reach that level of skill. Playing basic chords seems so boring to me and I want to learn to solo along backing tracks, mixing in chords, or do arrangements like this. Can anyone tell me what do I need to practice?

Greetings Michael 🙋♀️ I've been playing for 11 months with piano & guitar as my music foundation, and I took all of James Hill's free lessons last year, and then I saw him play "Billy Jean" at 2013 NAMM... OMG! The world of ukulele opened up for me!
Since my skills goal is to play James' version of "Billy Jean" on my 70th birthday this September 2021, I figured that if I wanted to emulate James in his playing of that piece, maybe I'd better take some lessons from him... It's great, but I'm a little disappointed that what you play doesn't quite match what's in the book. I wanted to see the fingering you use compared to what's in the text.
