Thanks! I have zero buyers remorse about it. I've found some MX tracks are a bit too much for it, but like I said in the video, it's not a replacement for a dirt bike.
Some great videos you have been putting out on the Mantis X. I am always interested in what other owners have to say about the X. I have had one for 3 months now and love it. Strictly dirt riding only for me.
Thanks! I'm planning to ride it as much as I can and film what I hope others will find useful. It's been a fun bike so far. Have you had any issues with yours that I should look out for?
@@alexdombi-weridetwo The only thing I have noticed is underneath where the battery sits, there are 3 wires wrapped in orange colored insulation. Evidently the battery must be digging into one of the wires because the insulation on one of the wires has been gouged into by the battery. I beefed up the insulation with some tape and seems to be OK, but that is something that you should pay attention to. Heck, maybe it's only mine that it's happening to, but maybe not. Other than that, no problems. I am a little disappointed at how quick the battery runs down especially when riding it hard. I am also working on making some sort of switch to turn the light off. I currently have it unplugged, but would like to have it ready to go if needed and don't want it on constantly.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll go check my wiring. I've seen them and wondered if they were vulnerable if I were to test the skid plate a bit too hard. I ran without the headlight for all these videos I have made so far and will probably only run it if I ride at night which is seldom. A switch would be nice to fully turn it off. It'd also be nice to have a plug and play brake light- or at minimum a tail light.
The back wheel on the mantis x is a 17x1.85 with a beefier mx tire. The lbx has a 19x1.4 with a lightweight mtb tire. Size is clearly stamped outside the rim. If you guys had the same wheels/tires on the drag race, you'd win.
You're right. The wheel size would impact the race. But when comparing them, keeping them factory sizes is necessary. I could have also changed the size of the sprockets to win the race.
How come even with the 72V it can't beat the Sur Ron? I have a E Ride Pro with a 6kw peak motor (or so they claim) and it smokes stock Sur Rons. Btw I got the bike for 3500 while the Mantis X is 2999. Whats you thoughts?
The E-Ride Pro S has the same top speed as the Mantis X but has a 0-30mph time that is 1.5 seconds faster. I'd like to guess it's based on the controller. In our tests, when I had a rolling start, I was able to take the win. If I could tweak the controller, I think it'd be a different game. Hopefully, Rawrr will release the Android version of their app soon. $3500 for the e ride sounds like a solid option. I've been trying to get my hands on one for some tests.
@@alexdombi-weridetwo Yeah thanks for responding really fast. I love my E Ride and its pretty fast. I just checked my owners manual and for my Pro S it says that the motor has a maximum output of 8kw so I think that is probably why it accelerates faster. One more question for ya, where are you riding in this video?
@@alexdombi-weridetwo Dang if I ever visit Georgia I'll check it out. In terms of their website it is very misleading because they haven't changed anything on the S's page for a while. My S came with the same suspension as the Pro SS and not the KKE suspension shown in the photo. The owners manual also shows the seat height being 32.7 inches while their website says 30. When I first got it I was confused because I thought I got the wrong bike as it looked identical to the Pro SS bit apperantly I must have gotten a newer model or something,
I say throughout the video that I switch between modes pretty often. When I was cruising on the trails, I was typically in eco mode. I would bump it to sport for track riding and sometimes kick it to race if I wanted the increased throttle response. I have an android phone, so the app is not yet available for me.
@ Man that Mantis ain’t no joke!!!! I like the idea of the Mantis X for my son especially the price!!! The Mantis is the flagship and trust me what I tell you, she a beast!!! You feel like you on a real dirtbike!!!
I was eyeing the Mantis Mini for my son. He's got other e-bikes but I feel it could be a great next step. As I mentioned at the end of this video, I don't think the Mantis X or Surron, for that matter, are dirt bike replacements, but are fun toys. Some people are modding these to the point of being dirt bike replacements and that's insane!
@ I agree with you on the dirtbike replacement but the Mantis is pretty close! Now that Mantis Mini for lil man is the move!!!! Less maintenance for sure!!!! He will love that thing!!!!!!! Love the vids and just subscribed!!!!!!!
As of right now the app is only available on IOS for Apple phones. I have an android so I wait anxiously for our version. Be sure that I'll test it out on video though 😄
The E Ride Pro SS 2.0 definitely seems quicker from what I've read and been told. I'd love to do a comparison of one- but those with ones near me don't like to ride off road so I am still looking :) I wish I had the funds to buy one to test. The fact that it's almost 50% more expensive than the Rawrr is one reason I chose the Rawrr over the E Ride.
The top speed is also 50mph. If you already have the surron, I wouldn't necessarily get the Mantis X unless you plan to focus on motocross style of riding more. Or if you can sell the surron for more than you can get the rawrr for.
I think that's important in the use case of jumping a lot, but for the street I haven't heard of many surrons breaking. I got the Rawrr for more track use than street, so the stronger frame was something I considered for sure.
I didn't get the battery numbers from the Surron but the Rawrr didn't drop below 45% on this day. That was a miss in this video. I'll try to put together a test of range on the Rawrr. Good question, thanks!
Just because it does really well off road doesn't make it bad on the street. The tires will not last as long because of the aggressive tread. I still ride around my neighborhood and have fun. It'll wheelie just fine too, but the Surron's ergonomics make it a little better if that's your thing.
Thank you for the invite! I had a blast at Durhamtown and really enjoyed filming this comparison
So glad you could join us!!
Can we expect to see a channel of your adventures soon?
Awesome video! Watching this makes me want to buy one now
Thanks RatherB! Hell of a compliment coming from you.
Great video! I also have the rawrr mantis X. Glad i bought the rawrr since i rather ride trails offroad than city rides. Good for mixture of both.
Thanks for the kind words! I'll be trying to get some street tires for this X and try out a kart track to get a full view of the versatility it has 😉
Rawrr Mantis X is awesome for the money. Great review.

Thats awesome they have drag racing with a functioning tree
It's human nature to want to beat your friends at something 😂
The first motorcycle race happened as soon as the second motorcycle was built
Great comparison! Tell that jerk in the background to stop making all that noise 😂

i think the surron only one because it was a short track, if the track was longer the rawrr would of won due to higher top speed
I think you're right. Jesse is visiting me right now, so maybe we'll go find a field and do a longer race.
how fast max speed.on the mantis my surron stock 2024/model goes to 50 mph and I weigh 250lbs and 6ft tall I'm curious if this would be upgrade for me

you'll replace that belt 1,000 times before you need a new gearbox
