    Very informative. Can you also plant from cuttings during the summer? Or do they have to be dormant? Elderberry bushes at the nurseries are so expensive. 💖💖💖

    • @bluebirdhomestead
      @bluebirdhomestead  2 года назад +1

      I have only ever tried it during dormancy. If you have access to free cutting though you could always give it a shot! I would just remove the lower leaves so that some of the nodes would be in the soil or water. You could also try to to root them in water. That might be a better option in the summer heat. If you go straight into the ground just be sure to stay on top of the watering since cutting from this time of year would have some leaves already. 😀

    Bet you will regret you put them so close. My elderberry tree just got broke off due to a storm. Last two days I have been getting tons of cuttings off it. You could of got two or three cuttings off those long sticks too. Mine was three years old the height was about 12 feet tall maybe taller and the base was huge that’s why I think you planted too close. You won’t be able to get in between the tops of the trees in three or four years. Good luck.
