Aye, it's rarer than you might think for an American to be keyed in to what is funny to us :). My missus, who is Californian, is left cold by an awful lot of British comedy ... and it took her years to get used to my sense of humour too. She really does not get the dead-pan dry delivery of something that on the surface means one thing but underneath is meant to be funny. The number of times I have upset her ... :shakes head:. It got to the point that I told her I was going to carry a little sign I could put up at need with "I am joking now!" written on it .
@@dallassukerkin6878 My brothers ex wife was French and at the start just couldn't understand "The Royle Family". Eventually it just twigged, and then she loved it.
The whole series is hilarious. Once you start watching one programme, you can’t stop. Peter Kay and Sian Gibson are friends from uni days. There’s loads of jokes as well as the interaction between the two: the radio adverts, street signs, etc. He’s always very funny and he really knows his music. Some fave scenes involve the supermarket car park attendant but that’s a recommendation for your wife! And the one with the escaped monkey is good too.
Totally true, every time I watch it you see something you never seen previous, a strange person dressed up, a funny road sign, or some incidental background thing
2 people sharing the journey to and from work every day with the radio on in the car - who would have thought this could be so funny but it’s absolute comedy gold !! Look out for the one where they sneak off work for the day. 🐒 Peter Kay is genius 🤣
First time I watched this, was convinced I'd never stop laughing! The seemingly random person they asked walking a dog lol, is one of the cast in Pheonix Nights a great series by Kay around 2000. Still watch that even now, still as good as it was back then haha!
Brilliant reaction. Reminded me of the time my elderly father in law asked at the dinner table what this new expression 'dogging' meant? The adults were stunned into silence so my son, who was about ten at the time carefully explained what it was.😄
Peter Kay's laughing at the end is genuine. He is a shocking 'corpser' and often needs several takes to get a scene done. In this case, the laughter was exactly what they needed anyway.
I must say, you really raise my spirits when you suddenly descend into gales of laughter, when you see something that greatly amuses you. I can’t help but wonder if your wife and family get to share the jokes later, off camera? (Content permitting!)
@@TheEclecticBeard Good for her, you obviously married the right woman, having the same or similar sense of humour/humor is always a bonus in any relationship. Talking of relationships, that’s the premise of: ‘Peter Kay’s Car Share’ - two single employees, accidentally thrown together by participating in a ‘Car Share’ scheme introduced by their Supermarket Employer. Each episode is about 25 - 30 minutes if you considered looking at it, blocking permitted of course!
Great reaction. Nice to see you get British humour. And Peter Kay is just brilliant. You should look at the Car Share outtakes. They make me cry every time I watch them.
That's the third time I have watched this clip with you and it still hurts my sides, tears my face and dribbles my nose sir. I thought it was hilarious originally but you take it to a whole new level. Thanks Mr E.B.
Peter Kay is like a modern day old fashioned comedian, totally brilliant - amazing live, and his shows are always worth watching. Especially Phoenix Nights tho IMO.
It actually happened on live TV here when the weather-girl on national Breakfast TV was doing an outside report because it was sunny. She was in the park and actually said the park was "full of people out dogging."
Hope you can get to watch all the episodes of this show some time. It's an absolute bundle of feel good joy. Peter Kay really knows how to pull those laughter strings.
I'm British and I love watching comedy gems on your channel that are so well known over here that they are practically part of our national identity. You have a glorious laugh and your laughter makes them twice as funny. One suggestion though: try to resist the temptation to explain what you're laughing at - we already know!
I come from a Glasgow child of the 70’s I told the wife who is English I was dogging school she went what it meant playing truant from school in Glasgow
I love this clip because it reminds me of a real conversation with a former work colleague that was very similar, a rather innocent and naive woman in her late 30s. One Friday afternoon I asked her if she had anything interesting planned for the weekend: "Not really I'm just going dogging with my sister-in-law" was the reply. Naturally I was a tad surprise and checked I'd heard correctly, but she confirmed it. Now the woman in question had form for accidentally dropping herself in it with unintentional innuendos and being generally a bit naive so I suspected we might have different ideas of what the term meant, especially considering the matter of fact way she'd disclosed her weekend plans. It turned out she and her sister-in-law went jogging together and would take their dogs out for a run at the same time. Dog-jogging rather than dog-walking which they called 'dogging' for short. As you can imagine half the office were eaves dropping on our conversation by this time and were in hysterics, especially when I had to explain to her what it really meant. Her face was an absolute picture. Like I said she had form for this kind of thing. On another occasion she was yawning and told us her husband was: "Really bad in bed and she'd hardly got a wink of sleep the night before!" Which got us sniggering. What she actually meant was he'd been ill and his coughing and spluttering had kept her awake. lol. Another time she informed us her husband had been 'Batting for the other side' the previous night which raised a few eyebrows. It turned out he played for a local cricket team and the opposition team had turned up with only 10 players, so her husband had played for them so the match could go ahead. She had a unique knack for unintentionally making us all laugh without understanding what she'd just said until we explained it too her.
Probably THE best carshare episode/conversation, I cried with laughter for like 20 mins and couldn’t breath, literally... your laugh is EPIC by the way love it 😉

Great Reaction. Now you know why, initially, she was so relaxed about discussing Dogging in her naivety. :) The only problem was you laughed so hard you missed 1 or 2 of the jokes as you didn't always pause...lol
The term "dogging" is mentioned in an act by a trio of middle-aged, middle-class ladies called Fascinating Aida. They write their own material, and sing as a trio. It's so funny to hear three women in evening dress singing about "doing it" and "getting it". They also do a variety of other subjects in the act. You can find their stuff on RUclips.
Ditto on all the comments about your laugh. I also love the fact you are open-minded and learning about another English-speaking culture. Keep up the laughs!

Car Share and the Singing Smurfette outtakes with Conleth Hill is hilarious. Needs a checking
It was a nicely done joke. If she'd have kicked off at the dog walker it would not have been as good. Her understated reaction made it funnier.
Holy shit; you laughing your arse away at the pay-off was as funny as the joke itself. Cheers for brightening my day dude.
This series is such a laugh 🤣 sometimes it's just the simplest of interactions that turn out to be the funniest.
Laughing so much , and you laughing just makes it even more funny . Great channel.
