  • Good evening everyone and happy Monday! Tonight we will be taking a look at geodized fossils! Geodized Fossils!? That's right! If you aren’t sure what those are then boy, is this the video for you! We’re answering the questions: What are they? How are they formed? And a couple others in between!
    Geodized fossils are one of my absolute FAVORITE THINGS to collect when I’m in the creeks of southern Indiana! Heck I’ve found them as far south as Kentucky and as far west as Illinois and a TON in Indiana! The secret, sedimentary geodes! A perfect cocktail of different conditions and minerals lead to these EPIC GEODES! I've personally found so many geodized fossils, including a geodized ammonite, geodized crinoid, geodized brachiopod, geodized cephalopod, and a BUNCH that I still can't even begin to guess what they were, but they are definitely not your standard geode! There's definitely something going on with a fossil in them!
    That’s all I’m going to say about it here, you’ll have to watch the video to find out more and see some of my rather large collection of geodized fossils!
    If you are new to the channel and this is the first of my videos that you’re watching, I hope you consider subscribing and ringing that bell to stay updated on all future content! ROCK ON!

    Had to view this again (and again!) to verify some of my geode fossil finds! Best source of info for Indiana geode fossils available!! Thanks (again!), GCC!!

    OMG those platycrinites are SICK!!!!!!! Great video! I love the geodized fossils. Not nearly as many in Missouri as Indiana but I feel freaking blessed to have found a few so close to my home. Hope you're doing well Tyler. Took me a minute to get to this video but I'm glad I watched it. Love this topic! Again freaking sick dope platycrinites! jeally LOL

    That was a great video Tyler! I love geodized fossils! And that was an excellent explanation as to what they are and how much they got that way! We learn something new everyday! It just goes to show, you can always learn something new. So Thanks Tyler!

    That was awesome. The comparisons were so well done. Thank you for this. It gives me a clue to some new shapes I should be looking for while out on my stomps up the creek. 🔥

    Another fantastic, informative video. As you know these fossils are plentiful in Monroe Co. but just one Co. over in Lawrence these make up most of our geodes. Tons of Horned Coral & Crinoid parts . I find most of my Horned Coral to have voids in them filled with bot. or some type of mineral/ crystals. Not just in creeks down here. They are in our yards , along side the road & even in the roads that are gravel. No shortage of crazy finds around here. So much so that I have to get rid of some of my collection just have way too many & I have ran out of room. I still hunt but I have become very selective about what I bring home. Thanks again for the video Tyler say Hello to the wife & kids for me. Hope to see you all over the summer.

    Wow what an awesome video. Informative with a ton of cool fossils. I will say the way you explained the whole geodized fossil process makes it easier to understand. I’ll have to share this around video around with a few people

    Aaniin boozhoo, ❤😊 love this video. I found what looks like agate, feels like wax a bit and looks like a spine of a little animal that was consumed by this mineral. Ive put a picture out there, i was told its chert. That got me thinking then about how bones can get exposed to the elements and start growing crystals and could also be petrified. Chi miigwech for the video it was very educational and helps im sure that your not a 60 yr old man talking in one pitch. 😂😂😂. Kidding I'll watch all rock/minerals/ocean/animals do the cutest thing videos even if you were 60. Get your videos out there to the young kids. Your great and keep the videos coming 🎉❤

    How is geodized fossil different than an agatized coral. Because where I live I find agatized corals that sparkle like druzy crystals

    • @GeodeCrackerCollector
      @GeodeCrackerCollector  Год назад +1

      I do believe it is a very similar process as to how these geodes form! The minerals that we find in these funky fossils-turned-geode all depend on the environment they form in! I’m guessing you’re down in or around Florida, they’ve got TONS of agatized coral down there! Myself on the other hand, I’ve only encountered “agatized” geodized fossils in Kentucky because they’ve got the right environmental necessities for agates to form! Great question!

      I was going to ask the same question but before I do, always read comments to try and find the answers. I live in MN and have found many different.. what the **** is this. 😂. Post it to sites to get responses that I didn't find said ______ in Mn because it's not possible 😂. I just respond well if I showed you 2 copper spears would you believe I got 1 from the great lakes and the other from Chile. One was pure and the other had to be smelted. Sorry I might not explain well because of how I talk and accent. Point being different environments make same but different things 😊 . Chi miigwech for asking that question so I didn't have to try and ask 😂😂

    There was one you didn't pick up in the video. It is the cylinder looking one in the back row. I find a lot like that but cannot figure out what they are. Your thoughts?

    • @GeodeCrackerCollector
      @GeodeCrackerCollector  Год назад

      Was it towards the left side or right side? I’ll be putting out a video that’s just a photo compilation of all that I have in my collection with a label with what I think it is. The cylindrical ones on the right side were geodized cephalopods, the ones on the right were geodized horn corals!
