My uncle is gay, and on occasion, I'd go to one of his parties. It was mainly men, and every-so-often they'd all disappear and I'd be left with a pint of lager and a bag of wotsits. What were they up to? I'm buggered if I know.

The funny thing is, I live in a Midlands town, quite a large Midlands town, not as big as Birmingham or even Leicester, but about 100,000 people in the town. During June (sorry, Pride Month) I walked through the town centre regularly and took buses through the suburbs every day. You wouldn't know it was June (sorry, Pride Month). Not a single flag to be seen.
With my work I had to go into London last June (sorry, Pride Month) i.e. 2023, so I got a train to Euston then took a bus down the Tottenham Court Road. Half the shops had the Pride flag - not even the 'traditional, conservative Pride flag' but the new one with the arrow invading the space, a bit like the arrows in the opening titles of Dad's Army invading space. Even Tesco on Tottenham Court Road had the new invading Pride flag. Funny, Tesco in my home town doesn't have the Pride flag in its windows. I wonder why such a difference?

He’s one of very few comics not either making unfunny leftie jibes or going completely neutral. So important the true jester role is kept alive and well.
