I know as a husband and father myself who learned about the arborist life seemingly to late in my professional career in my 40s, your wife and kids are proud of you, and the decisions you have made to step out on your own were the right ones. May the Lord bless your endeavors, and keep you safe. You continue to inspire, educate, and entertain. Thank you.

    A friend brought a similar truck up to our new property last weekend and it was epic! We'd pull in nose first and limb up ~40ft with the bucket and I'd pile limbs to the side as he cut. Then we'd turn the truck around and I'd chip those limbs while he geared up to climb and then drag those limbs as he dropped them, then drive the truck out and use it as the anchor or pull rig to take tops down and additional sections of the trunks if needed. Then back it up to the pile once he was back on the ground and we'd chip limbs and buck rounds in place. Got through a few big doug firs in a weekend and was stoked on how much we got done!

  • @johnnyshell2839

    Ok this will sound stupid but I left a long lanyard on my saw with black and red tape. Black tape line was 16 and red tape line was 20. I say the saw on the top of the cut as I moved down and the tape lines marked my cuts for me. Seemed super efficient at that time

    • @stusue9733
      @stusue9733 11 месяцев назад +2

      Well it sounded stupid to me until it dawned on me you were talking about inches and not feet.(my first language is metric lol)

    • @johnnyshell2839
      @johnnyshell2839 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@stusue9733lol. No worries. I'll admit I'm not well versed in the metric system until I have to fix my truck. I should have denoted my measurements. 16 inches and 20 inches. I'm sorry brother. I climbed solo. This was an easy reference for what the customer wanted. I'd move the tape when needed but 95 percent of what I cut was those measurements so I left them. I added green for custom cuts. Hope you have a great day bro.

    POOP FREE? Great video. After I got out of the Army I worked for a huge tree company that was based out of Fairfax, VA. The company name is J L Tree Service. Owned by a man named John Lewett. One of the best companies I ever worked for. He ran 8 crews that did the tree work. 4 bucket trucks, and 4 just straight climbing trucks. They had 10 chippers so that each crew had one and there was always spare chippers ready. He had two crews that did nothing but grind stumps. He also had two cranes that did the heavy lifting for the crews. He wasted nothing. He sold logs, fire wood, and chips. Now for the poop chips. We were on this job and the chip box was full. Each crew had an on going list of places and customers that would take chips. It just worked out that given our job location that our load of chips was going to a rather large Catholic Church. Two days passed and that afternoon we finished out the day and went to the yard to refuel everything for the next day. The crew chief was called into the office because someone from the church called and complained about the "soiled wood chips." Maybe some truck builder will come out with a truck with it's own Jonny On The Spot. Keep up the good work.

    Awesome job Jake, as a fellow business owner it is fun to run a company but also a lot of work. Keep up the good content, and god bless.

    Congratulations on the new equipment! It’s crazy to watch your growth as a RUclips channel, and as a company. You’ve come a long way, thanks for sharing for all these years.

    Jacob, I really love your videos. I'm not in the industry and don't do a whole lot of cutting, so I can't immediately apply what I learned so far from you. Just really thanks man. I'm absolutely fascinated with your work. Best of luck to you in the new venture!

    not sure what randys injuries are from but i know what he feels like dealing with knee pain. im a concrete finisher and the first 8 yrs i never wore kneepad and now in my 29th yr in finishing concrete and 3 months from turning 50 yrs old, knee pain has been a constant companion for since 8/7/08. thats the day my knees started pounding and hurting and hasnt stopped. i have good days and bad days. ive tried different medications and therapies and nothing really worked. docs say i need knee replacements but they wont do that unless i quit concrete.
    looks like surgerys going to have to wait because i love my job too much too quit. im one of those "walk it off and suck it up" kinda guys. pain just lets you know your alive. :)
    randy, im sure you found what helps you with your bad days. for me, its diversion. i find things to do that take focus and attention when im not working. i work on small engine stuff. i buy rough running equipment, get it running good and flip it. not so much for the cash but just to keep my mind on something else besides the pounding and crushing pain in my knees. it works most of the time but theres those days where im in my chair with ibuprofen, a heating pad and a laptop because those days staying still is the best medicine.
