    That backup alarm brings back memories of my childhood as a school district transportation department had that exact model fitted to their entire bus fleet.
    Amazingly, Ecco Safety Group still makes the 850N backup warning alarm unit to this day.

    Nice to see this channel somewhat coming alive again. And it’s always nice having a good long description on a video.

    My old SUV had an ECCO reverse alarm on it, pretty sure it was a 510. I had it wired to a switch so it was only active when I deemed necessary.

    That sounds like a garbage truck backing up! I love it!

    Thinking of putting one on my truck... I bet the neighbors love hearing you back in or out of the driveway. I’m not sure if it’s the piercing frequency or the decibel level that makes that particular model extremely irritating. Safety first.

    I might have to get this. This sounds like the typical IC backup alarm, I’m not a fan of the current one that’s on my bus, it reminds me of the bluebird ones.

    I wonder if this backup alarm in particular uses the same timing circuitry as the modern Wheelock fire alarms (such as the AS, NS, etc.) when set on Code-3.

    How do you hook one of these up? I want to put one on my truck for the shits and giggles.

      Basically, you need to find the wire that goes to one of the reverse lights and somehow splice your positive wire into that. After that, all you need to do is drill a ground nearby for your negative wire, and you should be good!

    I want to put a backup alarm on my car. So I can alert pedestrians and other motorists when I’m backing up and as a little conversation piece.

    Looking on how to disable this, and found out how, but another question even if this is old, have you been in any trouble because of the alarm ?

    • @msj191961
      @msj191961  3 года назад +1

      Nope. I've had this installed for over 2 years now, and I have not gotten any trouble or negative comments about it from the neighbors or the public. Mostly just smiles and laughter, and a few dirty looks here and there.

    its way too loud, cant you adjust it to a more reasonable level? its not worth making enemies around your living space...it really isnt because you will come home to a burned down house or something

    • @msj191961
      @msj191961  4 года назад +3

      No, it's a fixed decibel level. I've had this installed about a year, now, and nobody has given me a problem. If anyone were to give me crap about it, I can reasonably argue that it's a safety device, which it is. This truck had dark window tint when I purchased it used and it still does. When I'm backing at night, sometimes with no lights behind me, I can't see crap out the back window. The loud, obnoxious alarm gives people and animals a firm and clear message to get out of the way, and it also covers my butt legally if I were to hit someone while backing up because I gave them fair warning. Could I have purchased one with a lower decibel level? Yes, but I don't feel that the lower decibel ones are nearly as effective, at times. Having the loud noise literally sometimes gives me peace of mind. Furthermore, I usually only back once a day when I get home from work, and I can accomplish the move in 10 seconds or less. The overall noise pollution of this alarm in my townhouse complex is miniscule compared to the obscene number of barking dogs all around us that owners won't control. Worst criminal act I could see happening is someone getting underneath the truck and cutting the wires to it, which I don't think will happen. I live in a pretty good community.

      @@msj191961 I totally agree with you in regards of using a backup alarm as a safety device! My relative encountered an obnoxious old lady driver in our neighborhood a few years ago who had the AUDACITY to sometime intentionally block us from reversing out of our driveway properly (in order to record "evidence" of the noise coming from the vehicle) and prolong the noise for more than 10 seconds.
      Initially, we installed it for safety purposes too because their family had grandkids who ran around like monkeys outside and the sound naturally deters thief. The kids sometime end up playing hide-and-seek/tag on our driveway instead of going to the park nearby or stay on their own property to play...
      It's pretty ironic when hypocrite people like them twist our good intentions by saying how we're being anti-social and intentionally being a nuisance when they proclaim their kids are good as angels and speak a lot of BS.

      @@abcdfujackask2389, it really grinds my gears when people take the term "Neighborhood Watch" too far.
      Sorry that lousy neighbor had raised hell with you and your family about having the backup beeper.
      I pity that fool.

      They make ones that automatically adjust to ambient noise so the quieter it is outside the quieter the backup alarm is.
