Ding the skull knight variant. That is insanely good. I can't imagine the hours. This is definitely a medium I want to eventually get into. Next I would say the boots. Or something with the legs. Amazing work.
I love your work, I always liked leather "armors", especially those of thieves and assassins. Have you ever made something similar to the leather armor Garrett wears in Thief 4?
Good job on the helmet. For the eye pieces you were considering, I am glad that you decided against installing them in the leather design as the wire and power supply would have been difficult to compensate for. However that might not be as much of an issue for the eva foam version. Thank you for the video!
Nice work...I'd like to see the foam version due to the fact that the foam has some similarities to leather. And if we purchase the and have to make adjustments, we can apply to the foam version first
@@Princearmory There is such a noticeable increase in the filming and editing quality and clarity (not that anything was lacking before!). Everything looks dialed up to 11 on the tech side. It is definitely going to be worth the wait!
EERRRRRR MAAA GERD IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE Ive been debating buying the pattern pack for this armor and after seeing the helmet i think it answers my question this is freakin glorious!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, definitely buy it, the value is out of this world. This is literally based on a $20-25K custom project the client has amazingly offered to the academy.
Yeah I think they would have been cool but I decided against it because the non-lit up state with the white out look might have detraced from the base look a bit. It would have been a tradeoff and I figured I could always go back and add some later.
We have bigger tubs but bigger isn't always better, it means more volume, more fumes, more dye. This works for a single piece. For bigger batches we'll definitely use bigger bins.
Yeah, we're just getting started. Still have some of the learning content to lay the proper stepping stones for students to follow but it only gets more interesting from there.
I've wondered how the stamping techniques would carry over to EVA foam. I'm probably not going to buy leather and a bunch of high-end tools any time soon, but I have foam lying around from a previous costume and would be curious about making something like this with it.
Awesome build. The lights in the eye's would be a great touch and maybe incorporate some into the armour too, kind of steampunk style. Look forward to the armour build 👍
It's something we do from time to time and might do more of in the future. Thanks for the feedback, hopefully more will comment to let us know and we'll definitely look at adding some videos on it.
Please do, the support always helps of course but this one is such a good value for many reasons which I hope will become apparent as the series progresses.
It's tricky because there's a lot of additional premium tutorial content that is necessary for the helmet as with the rest of the suit so I have not committed to what to do for parting it out yet. So at this moment, I'm not sure.
An EVA foam build would be nice to see, as i'm thinking of making an EVA foam build of the imperial knight in the future. I was curious as to how to get all of the leather tooling effects replicated to EVA foam. Like, since you can stamp the leather to make detail, i wonder if the EVA foam can be crafted much the same? The foam build for my armor project will just be easier and cheaper than trying to make it in metal, the price of metal is just so expensive right now, and that would take a long time.
Yeah foam is dirt cheap and so easy to get into. You'll have a very hard time getting the same level of detail with leather, just due to the fact you can get such crisp impressions with tooling but you can still do a lot with foam, you just go about it differently and accept that they will have different methods of decorating them. The shaping and structure carrys over pretty well though.
The nicest black double capped rivets I've found are from Weaver. The finish holds up pretty well but it's still a coating so it technically can be scratched to reveal bare metal but I haven't had issues with it.
Yeah I get that, but it's often cost prohibitive for unique one-off custom projects. If I could pause time and just make cool stuff for everyone I would but I'm very short on time these days and my rates are... a touch on the expensive side.
You could make it as a beginner. The only hard part will be shaping the face and tooling which is covered in a premium video included with the bundle. If you're unsure though, just start with our more affordable warrior or fantasy series projects which are focused on introducing you to the craft and getting you started.
As a frame of reference, what size head is this pattern for at default? I have the pattern but don't want to trial and error my way to the right size since I have a really big head and a reference would help scale it properly.
I wonder how you would make a close helmet. Specifically how you would make the sharp edged "beak", you see on many close helmets. And I wonder if such a long "beak" would be too heavy and deform over time. I would love to make the "fluted helmet" from demons souls but for a beginner it seems so daunting, without understanding how to do sharp edges.
Well, I think our tutorials can probably help there. There's a lot of free stuff already on our YT channel and lots of specific lessons planned for the academy too.
@@Princearmory Thank you for the answer. I know you did sharp edged on the gorget or pauldrons by riveting the pieces together but these are fairly big shapes. The very steep, sharp nose of the fluted helmet is still a bit different and would not look nice with rivets. Things like the mouth holes on the "demons souls iron helm" are also out of my imagination. If done by riveting the hole face would be full of rivets. Could you guide me to a tutorial of yours that covers potential methods? Thank you
No you would just scale the pattern to fit. You'd want to probably bump up the size to like 110% or so and test with a paper or foam mockup first to be sure but this and the rest of the suit can be adjusted easily to fit any size.
Question for you: the title of this video mentions "hard leather". Are you ever possibly going to make a video on best way to harden leather? I realize that the different stain blocks and resists do harden leather somewhat, but not to the quality of armor grade. I've heard of a bunch of different methods (boiling, boiled beeswax, baking, solvents, etc), but I would really appreciate a video from an actually reputable source on leather working. Thanks for the video!
It's hinted in most of our vids but gratuitously soaking the pieces in acrylic finish gets you 85% there. Additional steps can harden it further, yes, but you start running into more cons than pros (brittleness, warping etc) so I find for 99% of my clients, acrylic hardening is more than sufficient.
Everything will be coming in time, not sure what order yet specifically. I need to finish out the warrior series first and then I'll get to the berserk bp and other parts

What is the source for the flowing eye plates you considered using on this helmet?
Can you make a Femto mask? How much would you sell it for?
Oh Yes! Foam version with the red led eyes please
With how many cosplayers love this Manga, you should absolutely do the foam version as well.
Yeah it makes sense
Definitely would love to see the eva foam version 😅
Noted, thanks!
So much YES to the "glowing red eyes" and foam version!! Please!!
I'll have to see what we can do
The eyes, DO IT PRINCE! The foam one would be cool. Subscribed.
Thank you!
You should give life to a character with that powerful voice!
haha thanks
Can't wait to give this project a try. Personally, I would like to see you put the glowing eyes in the foam helmet. Awesome stuff!
Yeah it's possible!
FINALLY!!! I've been excited for this!

foam tutorial? yes please
On the way haha
I would love to see one with the led eyes.

You're very welcome!
You make the coolest things I've seen made out of leather !

What a stunning build! I think it would be cool to see the red eye lenses but probably not ideal to have them there permanently.
That was my thought too.

Stunning. Beautiful.
Thank you!
I love it looking forward to the hole armor build

Foam Crafting is a good medium. I find it is easier for kids and beginners to get into, and watch the crafting addiction grow.
Yeah I think its a good gateway drug for crafting.
This is a real treat to the eye. I would love with red eyes for sure! Keep up the amazing work and video presentations.

That would look great!
That's great. Would love to see foam mock ups. Haven't seen that done and it'd help me test fit a bit prior to possibly wasting a side.
Yeah definitely, it's a big help

You could so easily tweak or mix and match this or some of the other designs in our academy for a demon style look.
@@Princearmory I like the mask on here. But I would add horns and find a way to make a jaw that moves when talking
@@Princearmory I hope you show how to make this in foam.
This mask actually reminds me more of Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat in a way.

I think letting down the idea of the red eyes was a good choice
It would make it cheap
I guess it depends on the setting. If you saw it in a dark setting it'd be epic but in bright light maybe it would look off.
My nephew should make this.

Exactly which black rivets do you use? I can't find any that nice.
Does the finish ever scratch when you are installing them?
