I'm 28 years old, and next month will mark three years of marriage. The first two years were full of fights and arguments. I would have left if it weren't for my pregnancy, as I don't believe in single parenting when both parents are alive.
The last major argument happened when I gave birth. My husband said some terrible things that day, which caused my blood pressure to spike to 180/120. I had a headache, palpitations, and feared I might collapse, possibly due to the lingering effects of anesthesia during delivery.
That day, I prayed to God, who told me, "If you want me to fix your husband, you need to just stay calm and submissive when he talks to you, no matter what he says or how he says it. Your behavior is all I need to change him."
It's been a year, and it hasn't been easy to remain calm when I have so much to say. However, the good news is that he is changing, even if not completely, the difference is noticeable. I have found a kind of peace I never thought possible in my marriage, and our home has been peaceful since last year.
    Praise God.

I have been married for 6 years this year september, and what really stands out for me was when you said that having parents that are in a good marriage is an advantage ... my parents was married for 24 years me and my sisters witnessed countless adultry happening in my parents marriage, constant fights arguments and belittling... we didnt have any example of what a good marriage is just little bits of good moments between my parents. Their marriage ended in divorce.. and that spirit of adultry seemed to have been with me in my marriage even tho i have been blessed with a handsome, smart Godly man but still had this evil with me... God delivered me from that spirit and watching your video just shows me that i need to submit to my husband i havent fully done so... thank you for saying its a process i normally expect God to change me instantly like baaaaaam you are now submissive but that stems out of being lazy and not allowing God to uproot the issues within me so i can fully be healed... Stephanie Okafor! I thank you for your obedience to our Lord and saviour i desire to come to that obedience too one day! The fear of the Lord is truly His treasure! Godbless you!

Something I was taught is that we have to already be “wifes” as the scripture says “he who finds a wife finds a good thing”. So as it relates to submission, we can be submissive to the men and women of God in our lifes now; like pastors, our parents, small group leaders etc.(not bfs)to prepare us for marriage. That way it’s a practiced habit vs something we’re starting upon marriage (I’m single as well)

Funny story when my husband and I were getting married. And the pastor was going over our wedding vows. I didn't want the word. Wife submit to your husband for me. It was a trigger because I had been in an abusive relationship and was a single mom for 23 years prior to meeting my husband. But as I'm learning and on this walk with God now that I understand more clearly because God has given me clarity on what he meant by wife submitting to your husband's. It makes me sad that I didn't have it in my wedding vows, because now that I understand and have the knowledge and It's like you mentioned having wisdom and knowledge. And now.
I embrace it as a beautiful thing. My husband and I we laugh about that now. Because it's just a funny story.❤😂

As a woman wanting to be married when my time comes I’m still working that out with the Holy Spirit bc like you said it triggers me too not bc of a bad romantic relationship but seeing my dad abusing my mum’s submission to dominate her in a bad way… (you know the people that interpret the Bible to always be in their favor).. but like your story, God can turn anything bad into something beautiful and I know He is turning my heart too to see submission as a shelter me and not a sword that will pierce me…🧡

We forget that God is working on those around us (including our husbands) just as instenselu as he is working on us. So it serves us good to submit to our (future) husbands and to be good listeners and intentional with our words.
When I became a mother I gave so much attention to our baby, that I became 'annoyed' with my husband. God called me out by askind me why are you hurting my child, and I thought but im doing everything for your child, and he said I love my child just as much as you love your baby. I realised he was talking about my husband as his child not our baby. That was a heart changing POV for me.

I also wanted to add to 31:57 that your husband may not be comfortable with not just some your male friends but also some of your female friends alike…….I have heard of cases where a husband warned his wife about her female friend and the wife being strong headed didn’t listen and that led to the breakdown of the home because the friend was jealous and did everything in her power to end the marriage.
Whenever your partner expresses concern about the people around you……PAY ATTENTION.

Thank you Pastor Steph for this great and insightful marriage series. For comments talking about marriages and issues with regards to submission, Pastor Stephanie's marriage series is primarily addressing singles who are not yet married, so that they can gain knowledge and understanding in order to Choose well and marry well. Because God's original order is that as a woman-you SUBMIT to the man that you have carefully and prayerfully chosen to marry and as a man-you LOVE the woman that you have carefully and prayerfully chosen to marry-regardless of their shortcomings because nobody is perfect. We are all work in progress and we help each other to become the better version of ourselves.
Anything less is Disobedience to God. God's Idea is to Choose right and Marry right. If you choose well-Love and submission will not be an issue because you are both Submitted to God.

Thank you for sharing Pas Stephanie, I believe God has plans for me to have a spouse and grow up a generation that fears and honors Him. I am currently studying the book of Proverbs as I'm seeking to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding, which you touched on a bit here as it relates to marriage (and it really helped put things into perspective). At first, I was really hoping to get married because it is a good thing to do, but now my perspective has changed a bit, and your series has helped me. I have come to realize that marriage is a serious responsibility of family that God orders for his honor and glory. So now I'm more focused on devoting my life to God to build me (and enjoy my alone time lol😄).

Pastor Stephanie, thank you so much for doing this series. I am a new Christian, and my husband and I are going through couples counseling to work through being a partnership and having two different belief systems. My husband is an unbeliever and wants to protect our son from the influence of Christianity. He wants to forbid our son from going to church, reading or learning about the Bible, hearing worship music, and being around other Christians. I am completely willing to become the Godly wife that God calls us to be. I respect my husband's rules and submit to him. Let me tell you, Jesus has transformed our marriage in how He has been working on my heart, helping me to be more submissive and empathetic.
Pastor Stephanie, I will rewatch this and take notes. I have also sent this to my sister, who is also a new follower of Jesus and is married with a young child.
Father God, thank you for working with and through Pastor Stephanie to reach so many men and women across the world and help us draw closer to you. All the glory and praise goes to you.

If submission is the posture of the wife… it’s BEST to marry a man that IS submitted to God!!
Why put yourself in such a situation? Can two walk together except they agree? Follow after Christ and allow God to bless you with your husband, don’t do it on your own
The example of a man not believing the word is…
    1. You both were not saved when you married.
    2. Your husband backslid.
Do not marry a man that does not know God!!
    Signed, Wisdom

I'm sorry I do not agree with the Sarah story. Women are being abused because of this extreme submission being preached to them. Take a good look at Judges 19:22-30. Such a grueling story. Please let's not normalise submission in a way that it leaves room for men's ego and stupidity to thrive. Women go through a lot already and abuse shouldn't be one of them.
    Thank you.
BTW I've enjoyed and found this series interesting, challenging and insightful. I only watched this because I saw you in my dream speaking to me and the only thing I could remember when I woke up was "successful marriage". I hadn't even listened to any sermon from you either. Turns out you made a marriage series so i believe God intended to teach me things about marriage. I'm not married.

I’m not married yet, but my boyfriend and I are moving in the direction of marriage. There’s a lot her that was discussed that he told me that I have an issue with and the first and biggest one being submission. I didn’t think that I needed to do that since we’re only dating, however the things that he ask of me is nothing to harm us but I figured that I knew more 😂. As I thought about his saying that I’m not submissive I thought about how I grew up. I grew up in a family where the women ran the home because we did not have solid men to do so or there wasn’t a man to help in the home. So I grew up very independent and head strong and it took my bf to tell me that I have an issue with submission. Whewwww! This video read me for filth 😂. I’m trying to work this out BEFORE marriage and also look for a married couple that we both trust to confide in when we need them.

What I found difficult is when a husband asks a wife to do something harmful to her family; she does it and then her submission is complete but her siblings and family have deeply lost/experienced the harm. Very difficult when that request is harmful.
Regardless of my own experience, this video is so helpful & hopeful for me, indeed. I’m glued in to the video and most of all to the Word of God within. Thank you! Hoping this video series goes viral; you’re saving lives, marriages & futures! Amen 🙏🏾

That’s not true at all you submit to Godly behavior if it’s not of God there is no leadership and you do not submit. In submission you also have to submit to God he doesn’t just get cast to the side because of your husband you both have to still obey Gods word. No ma’am don’t

What a great series, so blessed to find this! Easily and clearly explained 🎉
However I do have a specific question regarding submission. Been married for 7 years and from the 4th month of marriage until now it's been struggle upon struggle... And submission is according to my husband what I lack most... Fair enough! However the relationship relies on me to make things happen and work since my hubby is not taking any responsibility on his end, literally... so it seems that everything is upside down listen to this series. My question then is how to submit or how does it suppose to look like when I'm the one left to lead?

Here are some questions i was asking myself just a few days before watching this video........but I love just how the holy spirit has spoken to me through your teachings over His Love......And how us as believers should come to a point of submission and acceptance to God out of response to his Love.
I've been learning a lot from these videos. Even just understanding over things about God.
    Here are the questions.
"Why does God ask us to love him,why is it a commandment, like that which is given to
man to love his wife as Christ Loved the church?
Is it that our hearts are stone or hard to do so without it been a commandment?
    What is a commandments?"
    Reading Deuteronomy 6:5-25
    Jeremiah 29:11-13
    Romans 6:17-22
    1 Thessalonians 5:18
    Will enlighten us more.
    Be blessed
