John was a lot of things, for sure. Cynical, seriously witty, sarcastic, artistic, brutally honest, and magically talented beyond belief! But he was also insecure, afraid of abandonment, and very hard on himself. This song shows raw emotion from this complicated man.

This song was originally called Child of Nature or something like that. The music was written in 1968 while Lennon was in India. He couldn't get the words down, so he shelved the song until he came up with Jealous Guy. I like these words. They definitely strip bare Lennon's feelings. He was very good at writing about his own foibles and weaknesses.
Hi from Sweden. You are the only one I could find in the world who reacts to this song. I have a neighbor who is currently competing in a Swedish song contest. I knew he could sing and I did know this song. I have heard this version and the blues version by Donny Hathaway. What surprised me was that he took the blues version and "souled" it. If I would recommend one song by Lennon it would be "Working Class Hero". The song is 50 years old but the words are still on point.
