Slayer’s lyrics are always so well crafted. I feel like it’s easy to forget because they’re screamed and the music is insane, but I swear their descriptions are like they’ve seen hell before 😮💨
Hanneman songs absolutely are lyrically strong. Some of the Kerry King songs have silly lyrics. They both rock and write well constructed songs, but the lyrics aren’t equal
As for the Slayer solo(s). Actually both guitarist Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman (R.I.P.) on this song and usually in general the two guitarist go back & forth on the solos. If you were listening to this song with headphones the left channel would be the one guitarist solo then it would switch over to the right channel for the other ones solo, and they tend to to always go back and forth for their solos. So I think off the top of my head each player had basically 3 solos. I always thought it was pretty cool kinda like a solo duel type battle. With this in mind it really makes one appreciate the technicality they put into each of their songs.
If you listen closely, you can tell the difference of guitar tone, Jeff had a touch of reverb and his sound has a more ethereal feel, Kerry has a much more raw tone.
Seasons In The Abyss by Slayer, Cause Of Death by Obituary, Persistence Of Time by Anthrax, Coma Of Souls by Kreator, Rust In Peace by Megadeth… 1990 had so many killer albums. Dead Skin Mask is definitely one of my favorites from Seasons In The Abyss. Expendable Youth and Spirit In Black are also awesome.
Very well said about the solos, both Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King said multiple times that their solos are reflecting the themes of the song instead of being just display of talent, in this case it's twisted mind of a psychopath
