Great video. I’m 63 and for years I did not wear shorts out publicly b/c of my age. Then this summer I looked at my legs and realize I have no varicose veins, thin ankles, great calf’s, so I started wearing them. The shorts hit about 2-3 inches above my knee, but dang! They look great! It feels different, but good! It’s so nice to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. And I love how you styled the print blouse and white jeans. Going to replicate that look too! 👍

I turn 45 this week and literally only started wearing shorts this summer because I found Erin’s channel! I always hated my legs but after changing my diet, losing 5 lbs (I’m Erin’s height and weight) and her showing me what length/shape shorts look best, I am enjoying wearing them so much!
I love when you do side-by-side comparisons. Thanks for the great reminder that little things, such as jewelry, shoes and a belt make a huge difference. I'm loving hats right now due to chemo hair loss. Any stylish ideas on that would be much appreciated.
You can add scarfs, they look preety my aunt got chemo so i saw her wearing different print light weight, silk, cotton. Hope you have great day and days ahead. ❤️🇨🇦

I was thinking the same thing - I always feel so drab if I'm out for a walk or even on vacation where I want to be super comfy cause we will be walking for 8 hours. This would be a great video. I love the how to dress up an outfit, but that may be 1-2 times a week for me, the rest of the time I'm pretty low key but would still like to take it up a notch if I had to.

Went out this weekend with some friends. Haven’t been out in a while. Didn’t know what to wear. After seeing this video, I got some great ideas. I parred a belt (I never would of thought of this) with a plain over sized dress, and instead of flat saddles I swopped for a pair of high wedges. I looked great and got so many compliments. Your advice is spot on! Thanks!

I love all the recommendations! I am 49 and after being out of shape the past few years (thanks memonpause!) I finally lost the 15 pounds that was making me unhappy and started lifting weights. I finally feel I can rock a pair of shorts again! I really love the look of a midlength short with a jacket. It looks so pulled together and feels very trendy, while still looking classy!

I love this kind of video. You break it down so clearly and show how simple it can be. If you have issues with cheap earrings you can also get titanium earrings that won’t cause irritation but are more budget friendly. I use mostly piercing jewelry like BVLA because the backs are flat so you can sleep in them.
Tiny lux, maison Miru and bloomdahl all have titanium earrings that are not too expensive.

I agree with your concept of elevating outfits, but I wore a leather belt with my denim skirt last night and at a balmy 86 degrees my waist was all sweaty. Today I gave up and wore the self fabric tie - not as elevated but comfort wins.

Great video Erin! Love that fan effect on your hair while you’re modeling lol very Vogue Italia photo shoot! Really important video because you’re right, these are some of the basic go to’s we tend to wear casually that need a little polished look. The blazer with the shorts and that sundress belted with blazer were amazing!!!!!! Thank you for the recap, I think that’s something people don’t do often in their videos. I love watching your channel and the clothes combos are fab! But many of the style ideas belts, tuck-ins etc… are great if you don’t have a tummy (which you don’t) but as a woman who does pleats, belts and tuck-ins all make the tummy appear bigger. So anything you can do around that would be great. Thank you - I’m in the UK

The tips that I give on my channel can really be applied to women of all ages, but you may have to make certain modifications to a look in order for them to work for you and for you to feel your most confident. Sadly each outfit benefitted from the addition of a blazer. It doesn't work for those of us living in hot cities and that suffer from menopausal hot flushes.
I totally hear you, Belinda. Used to live in TX myself, so I am very familiar with that heat! But I still wore my blazers whenever I was inside the freezing buildings.... You can also just leave the blazer off and accessorize with jewelry, elevated shoes, and a belt! I hope these tips were still helpful for you to feel inspired! xo

You can tell by my $325 blazer price point that I am retired for a dozen years and no longer shop at Neiman Marcus nor Saks. Found a terrific 3/4 ruched sleeve relaxed cut blazer online at Saks. $825 !! LOL 😝

just the other day I did a kind of same summerdress-level-up (look 5); I added a blazer, mid-heel cork sandals, large ear hoops, sunglasses, some pretty lipstick and really, I could feel being noticed, people just stared a few seconds longer, like I was pleasant to the eyes, 2 men even gazed. Forgive me my shallowness but it matters to me. I'm not so sure for the belt though (or the half tuck tip) as I'm blessed with a real apple figure. My mother used to call me a ribboned eastern egg when I wore belts. That was long ago but accentuating my waist with belts are still a no-go for me, especially as I have gained an extra 50 kg over the years. I will consider the other tips however.

Fun DIY tip: If hair ties are too tight to hold up your long sleeves to 3/4 sleeves... I cut the elastic off an old disposable face mask and tie it to a comfortable size for my arms. 💖🌞🌵😷

Please do a belt video, that’s the thing missing in my wardrobe. I’m going to look at belting all my floaty dresses I’m 5’4 and can see I have to belt more even though I’d hot in Scottsdale! I’m going to try those stretch belts first.
Hi Erin! 1. I loved ripped jeans. 2. I was excited for the first look since I’m a ripped jeans and white tee girl but I feel like the two outfits are two completely different outfits. I’m not wearing a blazer most days. I would love to see more jeans/tee looks that don’t get so dressed up.

Thank you for the great suggestions! I am in my 50s and I was heavy for a long while. I am finally shedding the lbs, down 40 & my goal is another 40 to 60lbs.
Anyway, I have always loved fashion, but for the years that I was so overweight, making or buying clothes was a struggle!
I wrote all that because I am in the process of revamping my entire wardrobe- because nothing fits - clothes just hang on me (which is a good problem).
So I am tall (5'10"), so the real short shorts, don't work for me, but I get what you were saying about a different choice.
I haven't cared for the 70s 80s look with the baggy dress or even with tiers....just makes me feel big. However I love what you did with the belt and jacket, I definitely could pull that look off.
When I was in UGrad, I used to model at local events.... I have always been tall, and large boned. So I am going to start working on the more timeless pieces like blazers & jackets...cause my shoulders will not change. I wear jeans, but I like the more polished look.

You give me so much sooooooo I am beyond excited I have a tip for you! I too have a negative reaction to costume earrings. If you coat the little stick in clear nail polish, you can wear sans (French for without) the stress or irritation!
If you can't wear inexpensive jewelry, you might have a nickel sensitivity. (Something to consider because a nickel sensitivity should be noted on your medical history)
It's too hot where I live to add a jacket to anything!
I get it! If you need to skip the blazer, just try adding jewelry, elevated shoes, and a belt. Still makes such an impact! xo

As you can see in most of my videos, I wear this belt with just about everything! Mentioned in my most recent video actually...If you're going to spend money on an investment piece or luxury item, I always say that a handbag or accessory like a belt is a great item to do so with, since you can wear it SO much, which greatly decreases the price per wear! BUT...I hope you are always able to adjust my tips to fit into your own unique budget! Yes, I understand a blazer over a short sleeved Tshirt ratchets up the class, but we're not able to wear a blazer because it's too damned hot all summer!!!! Even short sleeves are TOO MUCH! Sleeveless is needed in this heat. There's no style solution for this!

Any recommendations on what you use? How do you refresh a blazer after wearing it on a summer day without washing it constantly? Thank you

Great tips👍🏽I personally struggle with belts moving up when I sit or raise hands 🤣 and the dress moves because the belt drags it. Guess it's because my waist isn't naturally very defined, the belt moves so freely because the torso is kind of straight like a pole.

I have a question for you Erin. I have always purchased a belt in person and in most places I just look for the large extra large. Now i am interested in purchasing the valentino belt. Do you purchase your measure size? I measure my natural waste but I often wear a mid rise pant as well So should I go up a size?

3:34 what makes this bag perfect is not that it's designer, it's the heavy gold strap, that matches the weight and color of the necklace. And so does the weight and color of the belt. A different color of gold would be a negative in my book. 💖🌞🌵😷

My only concern is that the shorts 🩳 are dry clean only. You’ve had this brand for a long time & have other nice designer shorts… do you really dry clean them all of the time 😳??? Or can you hand wash these M-Webb shorts at home 🏠?

Love, love, love this video and all the wonderful ideas you share. Like some other commenters, I am in my 60s and find (now that we can get out of the house again) I want to dress fab and leave that fine stuff behind. And it’s amazing how many wonderful pieces I already own but I just haven’t taken the time to plan a cohesive outfit. However, every time I go out with friends I get so many snarky comments of “well, look at you all dressed up” or “well, aren’t you fancy” or “do you have a date after this”. Find this so discouraging but I’m not turning back. Gonna keep dressing FAB while lunching with the ladies!
