Truly SO hard to make this one look "effortless"... BUT the best part of trends is only following the ones that truly excite you! Thanks for watching, Bev! xo
I love the IDEA of pleated trousers. Thanks for getting real about what it takes to pull these off. You looked fantastic with the oversized blazer as well.
I was so glad these pants went out of style after their popularity in the 80's. Being pear shaped, it was always a challenge styling these without accentuating my lower half. Now that they're back, I'm not touching them!
I’m very thin and I would never wear them either! To me, they are just not flattering on the body, no matter your weight or shape. They make the hips look huge! Who wants bigger hips than we’ve already got!
Thank you for working so hard on ways to make these trousers look great🙏Having said that, being 4'11" personally, it's a hard pass for me on these!😀I am using lots of tips from videos you have done in the past and they have made a great difference already.
It goes to show how effective you are with your styling because I vowed I would NEVER wear pleated trousers again. I wore them during the 90's and I never felt super confident in them and I would cringe whenever I look at old photos LOL. Well, I might give it another go with your suggestions. Thanks so much for putting in the time, effort and sweat, Erin, to help your adoring audience!!!
SO glad that I can help encourage you to try this one out! Even though it was SO tough, I did like these outfits in the end. Thanks so much for watching, Annie! xo
Abercrombie has great wide leg pleated pants! They also have regular, short and tall lengths. I have some from a couple years ago with elastic at the back. Soo comfy, but cute! They seem really popular and go out of stock a lot, but they restock all the time. I totally agree that dressing them down is key!
I thought it was just me who had trouble styling these 🙃😩 thank you for sharing your troubles as a professional stylist! I got a linen/cotton pair from Gap that seems to work, but I had to size up because the waist was too tight. Also, thanks for sharing Lydia Tomlinson’s video! She’s my other favorite and does a good job styling the effortlessly chic style.
Everything looks good on Lydia. She’s young, tall, thin, and perfectly fit. I watch Erin because she gives me hope that clothes *might* look good on me at my height and my age. And understands that I might not want to show my cellulite and bat wings. Watching Lydia used to depress me! lol I’m so glad I found Erin to watch instead ❤️
Hi Erin, So appreciate your Guides to help us in our Styles, our dress code .and so on.and son..its been so helpful to be "You" and to embrace it All..Thank You💝so Enjoy watching and listening to you..so true😊💖👍
Thank you SO MUCH for doing this, Erin!! I love that you keep it honest and address all the real fit issues that people go through. I am excited about trying these, but it's almost like it takes some studying to get it right! I can imagine myself in the blazer/ pants combo standing permanently with my hands in my pockets so everyone can see I have a waist!🤣🤣 Maybe we all need to watch Annie Hall again to see how the experts did it back in the day! 🙃 Keep up the great work; YOU ROCK!
Much more work required that I had anticipated! You're right...that might help us know how to wear them right! Haha! Thanks so much for watching, Penelope. xo
I wore these pants in the Eighties and I'm five foot two. I bought the ones with the Zip in the back which is more forgiving especially if there's a bit of elastic in the back. I wore heels or low platforms with them. A bodysuit shirt is great underneath to get the smooth outline.
Yes! Wear what you like and what feels good! I love the oversized outfit with that gorgeous blazer!!! Sure, the pleats may enhance my size 14 tummy, but who cares? Model-like perfection is absurdly unattainable, so why bother trying to perpetuate it?! . If I like it I’ll wear it. If it’s tailored, neat, clean and reminiscent of my youth, even more fun!!! Love it!
Omg I absolutely love the pleated trousers! H&M has a great selection of a kinds of different cuts. Next trick for me is keep it tight on top and always tuck in!
It’s a hard pass for me! 50 yrs old with a super short torso (think head on a waist) so pleats are a NO. Was thrilled when they went away and can’t wait for them to leave again 😂
Hi Erin 😊😊😊😊 Despite the fact that it was difficult for you, you showed us excellent combinations for one more time!!!!! Thank you for this huge try 💕💕💕💕💕 Plated pants are really good for summer and I love them 🌼🌺🍄 I wear them almost daily and what you showed us is what to notice in order to match them 🌼 . I read the same rules in fashion magazines some years ago so it's not difficult to style them. You are awesome ♥️💛💚💜 keep on❣️❣️❣️❣️ kisses from Greece 💙💜💚💛
I have a silk-like material pair of pleated trousers I got from H&M. I am 5’10’ and always liked these when I was young and slimmer. Now it takes getting used to these all over again. This video got me thinking about what tops and jackets to wear with them. I actually have a cropped blazer in black and some cropped dress tops that would work for this look. Thanks for brain storming these looks with pleated trousers. I think my favorite look you showed was the pleated trousers with the tank top.
I appreciate what you & your team put in to making the pleated pant look accessible 🧡 I adore a wide leg, a paper bag waist pant. The pleated pant look isn't a high fashion priority. But you found your "effortless look" 🤗
I LOVED the oversized blazer outfit - for me it’s so cool looking - will definitely pair with the chunky heeled slide - the chain detail adds something there to the whole thing. (I would have not thought of that!) this whole trend gives me serotonin lol
One of my go-to looks is long, wide-leg trousers, flat-front or pleated. I think if you choose pleats, how the pleats are tailored REALLY matters, i.e. look for quality. I also find a higher- neck tank adds length and coverage, if that is desired. I'm tall with 32 inch inseam, so for my body way and style, I find them incredibly versatile: wear with a tank, camisole, t-shirt, crop sweater, romantic blouse, super-tailored shirt, waist coat or blazer. That said, I get how these are maybe not everyone's cup of tea. I loved your honesty and sense of humour in this one, Erin :)
LOVE this Erin!!! I purchased some trousers from Ashley Stewart in black, navy and white. I had three of them tailored into shorts to wear as a short suit and I purchased these for trousers. I highly recommend these if you are petite and curvy. The pleated, belt loop details are elasticized and they don't look like it. Definitely will skim over the tummy and define the waist. They also have tall, regular leg lengths. Thanks Erin for sharing your styling tips!!! 👑💯💜💐🌞
I’m 5’ tall and a size 12. I just love the pleated pants look. I found some paper bag tailored pleated trousers at Target that I didn’t have to Alter. I get so many compliments when I wear them. The trick I found is to wear a long cardigan that’s the same color as the pants. With a very fitted top, tucked, just as you mentioned. And it looks amazing. Otherwise I look like a cute round potato 😬🤣🤣🤣 Love your content!!!
I fan girl whenever you have a new video. As someone who has always had a tummy, I was elated when these went away and dismayed when they Walking Deaded back into our lives. Even at 5'8" these do me no favors, but I will try them with the cropped blazers (which have changed my wardrobe, thanks to you). Great video, as usual.
With working from home some days and going into the office other days, the new normal seems to be a lot more casual. Could you do a video on Casual Dressing for the Office?
Thanks for the suggestion, Martine! This video is more about work from home styles, but can easily transition to more Office Casual ideas: ruclips.net/video/xzi7Z7eMtZY/видео.html Thanks for watching! xo
Wide leg trousers are the best ❤️ so happy they back in style, as I love wearing fitted tops and with trousers like that it looks so good. I am so over skinny pants.
Thank you so much for this video. I was soooo excited to get a pair of pleated trousers, but from the first try-on I could tell that they were going to be a challenge. I am determined to make it work!
You pulled all of them off. I'm feeling my college 90 years looking back at me. This is all I wore! The last one was your best- always good to push it Erin- you might be surprised!
I found those pants in plum color in TJMax & fell in love with them ... but didn't know how to style them despite the gazillion pictures roaming the internet ... Thank you for the tips .. ♥️♥️
Hi Erin, you look fantastic in everything & definitely look taller than 5’4. I’m 5’10 weight 140 & I don’t look great in these pleated pants. They make me look frumpy w a tummy! I think I’m going to skip this trend & continue wearing my high waisted jeans, straight leg pants, etc. Thanks so much. You put so much effort into your videos. 👍🏽
I am the same height and thin. I agree100% with you. Lots of shorter people think bc you are tall you can wear anything. That is definitely not true. Extra fabric/loose clothes tends to make us just look sloppy bc there is just a ton of extra fabric. Not complaining at all about my height, but it isn’t the solution to fashion challenges.
Oh My!!! Are you a genius or what? Your "dedication" is ....cannot find the word.... so fine, attentive.... your have thought of every aspects possible. I said it before, you are amazing, so thank you for your hard work and attention to details.... not only a pretty face! Brilliant!
Love your honesty in this vid, Erin! I can’t bring myself to do the oversized jacket as well but thanks for the great tips about how to style these trousers!
I watched this with great interest because I just purchased a pair of wide leg pants and I’m only 5’1” tall. Thought I couldn’t do it (I’m 68 and didn’t want to repeat the 80s again!) but I feel really good in them. I did have to hem them about an inch and I’ll only be wearing them with white trainers. I must add that they are NOT pleated (a better option for me because I’m pear-shaped) and they are a soft linen to deal with the heat we’re having. I always wear dark at the bottom so they are black and my tops are always light. I did get a couple of linen tops that are gently fitted just above the waist - I think they look great and with some jewelry, quite presentable. I honestly didn’t think I could wear wide-leg but I guess the moral of the story for me was try something new and you might be surprised. I love all your videos and your honest approach to fashion and really practical tips are much appreciated! 🇨🇦
You're exactly right...trying something new and out of your comfort zone can actually be freeing! SO glad this was helpful for you! Thanks so much for watching! xo
I am actually loving the wide leg high waist trouser look. It actually helps show off my waist which I have been working hard for . I have wide hips so it helps balance me out . Plus I love wearing them w my platform converse or Mules - feeling so fashionable . I have bought a couple of the pleated variety from banana republic - at first I was skeptical of the pleats but depending on which ones I can make it work . I do think something fitted on top is key . Since BR carries petite sizes- I think that is a good place for some ladies to look .
As a petite pear shaped woman who was in her 20’s in the 80’s when dress pants for women were modeled after men’s (men’s dress pants always were pleated at that time), I was thrilled when they finally went out of style! So, this is a hard no for me! Give me a more fitted silhouette every time. But you rocked them!
I totally get it, Linda! Thanks for watching even though you aren't trying this particular trend out. So important to only wear the things that excite you! xo
I am similar in age and I HATED most fashion at the time. All that oversize exaggerated stuff just looked awful on me. I don't think I can ever go back. 😂
To this day I absolutely cannot tolerate any kind of shoulder pads. I've even risked ruin by cutting into the interior lining of garments just to remove them 🤗
The black top and beige trousers is my go to outfit ❤️ Thank you for the tips 😘 I got this pleated beige trousers earlier cuffed at the ankle so work extremely well with my petite shape 😍
You are so right, there is nothing effortless about them. But they are so confortable especially for summer that l have bought 2 pairs and your tips are great.
I only have one black pants like these but when I see the neutral version and all the ways you wear it and so well...maybe I'll try one or two more ! You're really chic 😉👍
Great video, thanks! I’m a 5’0 ft pear shaped petite with lumps and bumps and found the “Effortless” pants and shorts from Aritzia worked well for me. They come in short, regular and tall, have understated pleating which looks less dumpy, and they hang beautifully.
I think this is one trend I will pass on! Pleated pants are too frumpy and expand the waist line! I love you in flare and straight leg pants better, but u always look great!! As always, great style ideas Erin!!
I love these pants although I'm petite. They always look good with a rib shirt, a classic white but light oversize blouse and an oversized blazer. These are my signature looks 😁
You look amazing in the oversized blazer. 😍 Very good video. I went through all the same steps two months ago. I get a lot of compliments wearing these trousers. They fit and suit me very well because I have no tummy and no butt, but for sure other problems. I love them. ❤ Erin, you are gorgeous.
I’m so excited that these pants are back in!!! You’re sooo right…if you can nail the look, it is awesome! Thanks for the tips! I hope I can find that Frame black top!😃🛍
A bodysuit or a cropped tight top would look fab with this pant. But yes, very tricky to style pleated, voluminous pants! I have that lace top in light blue but haven't worn it yet. I love the camel pants on you! And I agree with you. The oversized blazer look is fab!
As always, great advice. I love ur videos, thank you for your honest & to the point comments on fashion. Excellent input for what works & what to avoid when shopping.
The oversized blazer outfit looked great on you! Thanks for sharing these helpful styling tips. I like Everlane’s drapey wide leg pants, but they might be too long for petite girls. The “short” length is the perfect length for wearing with sneakers and I’m ~5’6”
I have a pair of pleated pants that I really like because instead of wide leg being loose; mine have an elastic cuff on bottom which is more flattering on my 5 ft petite frame. I wear mine usually with a t shirt and casual flat ankle boots or sneakers. Liked your info too. Thanks for all your effort you put into this.
I’ll add one more “top” idea but I’ll admit it may be tough to find! I have a spaghetti strap draped (like a mini cowl) neckline bodysuit that somehow magically works with any of my trousers or skirts beautifully. It’s obviously automatically “tucked in” and body skimming, doesn’t create any added bulk (in fact it kinda tucks my belly IN a bit!) and looks so chic and flattering. I’ve worn it alone and under a cute cropped jacket or blazer and it never fails me. I have a pair of paper bag waist wide leg linen pants I bought in Paris a few years ago and as scared as I was to style them, they looked perfect with that unicorn of a bodysuit! Good luck with this trend, ladies! Do what works for your body and style and rock it!
Thank you for this video. I loved these pants in the 80’s and bought a pair of beige ones recently. I have felt limited in what I could wear with them as I too, am petite at 5’2. I love wearing them with a white body skimming blouse with the half tuck or my black and white striped T-shirt and platform white sneakers. Now, you have given me more options and I will try the cropped blazer. I was also thinking of a bodysuit but it’s hard to find them with a full bottom ( I don’t like the thong style). You look amazing in all of the outfits and I continue to learn from you every week. 😃💕
Thanks a lot for this video, dear Erin! I thought I was the only one on the face of the Earth who finds super hard to style these pleated pants… What a relief! 😅😘
The best part about trends, is only trying the ones that truly speak to you! You're right, SO many options for pants that it is easy to find what truly works best for you and your own body! Thanks for watching, Linda!! xo
I never was interested in this type of trouser but now that you showed us..I have to try it on and see if it fits me😀You looked good in every one of them
I LOVE wide legged pleated pants-agree there’s not enough selection available-I find the trick is the pleat placement-single, double, tacked down etc. I have a tummy and big bum and they are very flattering
Nope, I could never pull it off 🤣 5feet 3 and curvy.. I would not only feel like a walrus, but unintentionally look like one 🤣 Tricky look to capture, but as always, you did it beautifully ❤️❤️ Thanks Erin, you’re gorgeous 💋
I feel the same about my linen shorts from Banana Republic! Zero stretch. They either fit...or they don't. I appreciate the effort you put into this one! I can just picture the sweating...the sighing...the eye-rolling 🤭 and yet, everything DID look effortless (on you). I even love the over-sized blazer! With the sneakers...not trying too hard 😁
Hi Erin great video. I purchased pleaded pants and every issue you mentioned I have come across ... This video is helping me styling my look. Thank you!
My grandma told me a loooong time ago that pleated pants aren’t anybody’s friend, and I still follow that advice.
Truly SO hard to make this one look "effortless"... BUT the best part of trends is only following the ones that truly excite you! Thanks for watching, Bev! xo
Yes, ma’am. I agree with your grandma!
Haha! I get it, Rose! You should only pick up the trends that truly speak to you. Sit this one out! Thanks for watching. xo
Right there with you. Having a very small upper body and waist, but bigger thighs and bum this style is definitely a big NO for me.
Same!!
I loved them but had 20 kg less then.
I’m very thin and I would never wear them either! To me, they are just not flattering on the body, no matter your weight or shape. They make the hips look huge! Who wants bigger hips than we’ve already got!

The last look was my favorite! Rock it lady.
It goes to show how effective you are with your styling because I vowed I would NEVER wear pleated trousers again. I wore them during the 90's and I never felt super confident in them and I would cringe whenever I look at old photos LOL. Well, I might give it another go with your suggestions. Love the bonus look - go out and rock it!

Great comment! 😂
Head on waist! Yes! I have about 2 finger-width between my hip bones and the bottom my rib cage. So frustrating, and of course, I’m now pear shaped.

The back of the pants always got caught in between the heel of the slides ( for me)😡
It did look so cool on Erin!
I'm literally your exact opposite because only a form fitting slim profile blazer will ever find space in my closet 😍

Extra fabric/loose clothes tends to make us just look sloppy bc there is just a ton of extra fabric. Not complaining at all about my height, but it isn’t the solution to fashion challenges.
Thanks so much for watching!! SO glad you are here! xo
Oh My!!! Are you a genius or what? Your "dedication" is ....cannot find the word.... so fine, attentive.... your have thought of every aspects possible. I said it before, you are amazing, so thank you for your hard work and attention to details.... not only a pretty face! Brilliant!
So glad you enjoyed this, Cathaline! Working hard so that you don't have to! xo
Love your honesty in this vid, Erin! I can’t bring myself to do the oversized jacket as well but thanks for the great tips about how to style these trousers!
Always so important to wear the things you love and feel confident in! Thanks for watching, Emma! xo
Thanks so much for watching! xo
Oversized blazer with the pleated pant is my favorite of the outfits! Looks great. I think it'll grow on you:-)
I love them! They are in my shopping list.
Hope these tips are helpful for you! Thanks for watching! xo
Been there done that with pleated pants!!! I remember tacking the pleats down!!!
Love it! Thanks so much for watching! xo
❤️❤️❤️Erin, you look amazing with anything you wear! 😁👌🏻💕🌺
I love the bonus look on you!
Thanks so much, Barb! Thanks for watching! xo
This was so helpful, thank you so much! I love the way you reiterate what you have said,a great teaching technique.
You are SO welcome, Vivienne! So glad this was helpful for you. xo
Thanks so much for watching, Mona! xo
You are so right, there is nothing effortless about them. But they are so confortable especially for summer that l have bought 2 pairs and your tips are great.
Exactly right!! Thanks for watching, Georgiana! xo
Thanks for sharing, Jamie!! xo
I think this is one trend I will pass on! Pleated pants are too frumpy and expand the waist line! I love you in flare and straight leg pants better, but u always look great!! As always, great style ideas Erin!!
This one was TOUGH! Had to show you all how hard it really can be...even though Pinterest makes it look effortless! Thanks for watching, Bonnie! xo
I understand your struggle, I don’t need or want the pleated pants in my life 😆 I have worn these many years ago and I do not miss that look at all.
I totally get it! Only wear the things you love, Alicia! Thanks for watching! xo
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed this one! xo
I’m so excited that these pants are back in!!! You’re sooo right…if you can nail the look, it is awesome! Thanks for the tips! I hope I can find that Frame black top!😃🛍
Yay! So glad these ideas are helpful for you, Barbara! xo
Ooo cropped blazer! good one
I have to say, this was a really good video! The oversized blazer does look good IMO
So glad you enjoyed this one, Kate! Thanks for watching! xo
A bodysuit or a cropped tight top would look fab with this pant. But yes, very tricky to style pleated, voluminous pants! I have that lace top in light blue but haven't worn it yet. I love the camel pants on you! And I agree with you. The oversized blazer look is fab!
Thanks so much for watching! Anything but effortless! xo
As always, great advice. I love ur videos, thank you for your honest & to the point comments on fashion. Excellent input for what works & what to avoid when shopping.
I'm SO glad this was helpful, Rose! Thanks for watching! xo
Welcome to the Plus size World! 😆 Always trying on .. changing .. making faces AND Sweating! 🤣🤣
Hi ! Erin you are hilarious….just love it thanks so much!!!!!
I love your channel. I am not stylish at all but still enjoy in case some day I change. 😀
SO glad you are here! xo
thanks Erin. for your hard work. amazing ideas. love it.💗💐💗💐💗
Thanks so much for watching, Paula! xo
Great tips!
And I would really love a hair tutorial on how you style your hair, because it looks gorgeous!
Thanks so much for watching! This is the curling tool that I used for this look: rstyle.me/+gLXt9VjpfvbS7Nz8MDOHHw xo
@@BusbeeStyle I have that wand! But my curls look nothing like yours.😢
So I would still love a hair tutorial.❤️
The oversized blazer outfit looked great on you! Thanks for sharing these helpful styling tips. I like Everlane’s drapey wide leg pants, but they might be too long for petite girls. The “short” length is the perfect length for wearing with sneakers and I’m ~5’6”
Hi Erin! The bonus look was actually my favorite on you.
Well thank you! Truly appreciate YOU! xo
Great way to adjust the style to fit your own body! Thanks so much for watching! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. xo
Great idea! Sounds like one that would work just great. Thanks so much for watching! xo
While I did like some of the looks, I am 5’4” with hips and booty so I am staying away from this trend lol. Love your content!
Thanks for watching! Appreciate YOU! xo
Me too😏
Same for me,
Same!
Thrifting is the best way to try one 👍😀
Thank you for this video. I loved these pants in the 80’s and bought a pair of beige ones recently. I have felt limited in what I could wear with them as I too, am petite at 5’2. I love wearing them with a white body skimming blouse with the half tuck or my black and white striped T-shirt and platform white sneakers. Now, you have given me more options and I will try the cropped blazer. I was also thinking of a bodysuit but it’s hard to find them with a full bottom ( I don’t like the thong style). You look amazing in all of the outfits and I continue to learn from you every week. 😃💕
Thanks so much for watching, Trena! SO glad this was helpful for you!! xo
Thanks a lot for this video, dear Erin! I thought I was the only one on the face of the Earth who finds super hard to style these pleated pants… What a relief! 😅😘
You are definitely not alone! Thanks for watching, Juliana! xo
Erin I love the tank/ pant combo and the oversized blazer! You look great in all, but these were my favorites.
Thanks so much, Nancy! So glad you enjoyed this one! xo
Pleated pants are great for an inverted triagle body shape like mine. It provides balance of the narrow hips to the wider shoulders. Love them!
So glad to hear that! Thanks for watching! xo
Loved this style back in the 80s but I don't think I want to revisit it now. Lots of better options about
The best part about trends, is only trying the ones that truly speak to you! You're right, SO many options for pants that it is easy to find what truly works best for you and your own body! Thanks for watching, Linda!! xo
I never was interested in this type of trouser but now that you showed us..I have to try it on and see if it fits me😀You looked good in every one of them
SO glad you found this video inspiring, Nadine!! Thanks for watching! xo
I remember loving them when I was younger and skinny. Now I think they will be a challenge! 😳
I LOVE wide legged pleated pants-agree there’s not enough selection available-I find the trick is the pleat placement-single, double, tacked down etc. I have a tummy and big bum and they are very flattering
Thanks for watching, Kristina! xo
Nope, I could never pull it off 🤣 5feet 3 and curvy.. I would not only feel like a walrus, but unintentionally look like one 🤣
Tricky look to capture, but as always, you did it beautifully ❤️❤️ Thanks Erin, you’re gorgeous 💋
Thanks so much for watching! xo
Thanks so much for watching, Jenn! This was a tough one! xo
Hi Erin great video. I purchased pleaded pants and every issue you mentioned I have come across ... This video is helping me styling my look. Thank you!
You are not alone! This one was so tough. Thanks for watching, Maria! xo
