don't leave your door close if you're not doing a load. It will save your drum spider and will reduce mold significantly.

You mean, don't close the door after use? It needs to air dry to not mold. And the gasket can rot or get damaged. They are expensive and difficult to install.

These are all good tips but remember folks, you need to leave the door on your washer open so it can dry out after using it. That's how the mold and mildew forms.

Looks like a Kenmore. I have one and really like it. The washer has a catch that keeps the door from closing all the way.

Buy a top loader washing machine and you won't have to do cleaning like in this video.

We had one of these washer/dryer combo machines in our previous apartment and each load took 4 hours...still damp afterwards. With long haired cats, cleaning the filter was a weekly chore lol.
We fortunately no longer have a 2-in-one

This is why I'm glad I still have my old-school top loader.

Top loaders need to get cleaned by machine cleaning powder too it doesn't matter all appliances need to get cleaned once in a while

I was also thinking the same . My top load washing machine is a low maintenance one...gave 17 years of flawless performance and is still working.

Hate the break it to you…. Top loaders need this just as much as front loaders. I guarantee if you take out the tumbler part, it’s going to look pretty gross down there.

Yeah, washer magic or affresh. It is better to use something like that than baking soda, imo.

that was a dirty filter… sorry.
i always have a microfiber towel or two near my washer. after every use, i pop the little hose’s tip and let it drip to a small basin. I leave it dripping while tidying my laundry area. then after 5 mins, open the filter and empty out the excess water.
when finished, i wipe with microfiber the gasket and whatever i can reach under it. that small gap between the gasket and the drum.
then the door. pull the detergent tray and rinse it, wipe it dry too.
leave the door open to avoid mildew buildup.
I do this every time I use my machine. It also helps that I only use not more than 2tbsp of detergent to avoid any internal buildup.
i am soooo glad i switched from top load to front load. I will trade this front load if I can buy a SpeedQueen here in my country

Just run bleach every time you do a load of towels and your washer won't smell any more.
