@@rochellejanet9021 compare the parent function to these four transformations, 2radx, 1/2radx, rad2x, radx/2, create an input and output chart for the four transformations and the parent function. plug in 1,2,3,4 into these. Compare your findings. The conclusion is 2radx is a vertical stretch by a factor of 2, all y values are multiplied by 2, 1/2radx is a vertical compress by a factor of 1/2, all y values are multiplied by 1/2, rad2x is a horizontal compress by a factor of 1/2, all x values are multiplied by 1/2, radx/2 is a horizontal stretch by a factor of 2, all x values are multiplied by 2,.............an easy way to remember is tranformations addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division directly affecting the x value would have an oppostie affect that it would have on the y values......OPPOSITE DAY
@@brianmclogan it wasn't wasn't zoomed in enough at the beginning of the video. So are you a collage professor or a math teacher? And this video really helped me.
but isn't horizontal stretch always the reciprocal? so shouldn't it be a half instead of 2, or is that just for non radical?
Great way of teaching!!
is there more examples like this ones?
Why isn't the horizontal compression a 1/2 instead of a 2?
because there is a 2 there not a 1/2, the number doesn't change because of it's placement, graph it using desmos.com
Thanks sir. I think I was confusing this form of functions with the form that has 1/b(x-h)
what is to the very right of the board?
What happens if you have sqrt(-2x+1)?
it would be horizontal shift not vertical shift
its a factor of 1/2 not 2.
How?

gotcha, bad camera, I am a high school math teacher
