Flashback is absolutely amazing and the developer, Mors, is a great person as well. Mors has some excellent tweets which actually debunk the myth that Nintendo takes down every single fangame ever made. Unfortunately they're not saints but they're not *quite* as bad as people like to pretend.

You should play Super Mario 63! It's a 2D sidescroller that has FLUDD return and has a good storyline, and lots of the levels are remade from Super Mario 64!

This game is so colorful and amazing! I love how people started creating actual Mario games and make them unique in a good way! They are so different than the casual Mario games Nintendo are creating! 😁
The art and design is very similar to the Mario & Luigi games, so, i think they're still getting the inspiration from Nintendo.
This game is so insanely well-made. It’s honestly better than some of the stuff Nintendo makes nowadays lol, I love it

Dang, the art direction is through the roof! Really wish Nintendo would explore aesthetics like this, versus the "Fisher Price" look they've been using in their 2D platformers for the past 10+ years.

I like the art style. I wish Nintendo did that with Mario. Seems like, ever since Mario got his standard look, every game has become standarized, in regards to how characters are drawn.

Survivalcraft works in a similar way: You get to explore a completely destructible world, the catch is that you only have ONE day to do it. On the bright side, the day takes half an hour in teal time to pass

0:17: How could you do that to Diagonal Mario World?
Diagonal Mario World is not a fan game, it's a ROM hack. So Diagonal Mario World is the best ROM hack and Super Mario Flashback is the best fan game.
Wow! The small details in this game are awesome, like how there was foreshadowing at the end of 1-1... Did anyone else notice the light rain that started before Dave got to the thunderstorm in 1-2?

I just 100 percented this game and there are two things to know after watching this if you want to do it yourself.
1. As far as I am aware of, there is not a Green Star in Digital Departure.
2. In Beetles in the Cave, there is a secret Power Star that you can access by breaking the bricks by the checkpoint. You can access it by breaking the 3 rightmost blocks (which are the only breakable blocks) and running to the left. There is some note block platforming, and then you win.
I hope this is correct as I didn't look any stuff up, and only watched this video after beating the demo. I hope this helped someone.
The secret is in Mushroom Hopping, not Beetles in the Cave.
Edit: There are secret stars in both levels
@@davinchristino There's one in Beetles in the Cave too. I have gotten it. Maybe I didn't 100% the game and there's one in Mushroom Hopping as well.
@@smobowser99 Yeah I checked it yesterday and there is a secret star in Beetles in the Cave. You are right.
To get the secret star in Mushroom Hopping, enter the second pipe after the checkpoint (it will have two coins under it). Then you do some more platforming and then you win.

Even though Flashback is one of our main competition when making Super Mario 127, Mors is a great person and the flashback team has made an awesome game. It might've took them some time to finish the first world, but the animation and ost is stunning and completely makes up for it.

This is really a cool fan made game.
The visual style and animations (and even some of the screens) look more similar to the Mario & Luigi games, than the super mario games.
Just imagine Nintendo seeing this masterpiece and immediately bans it because it was too good only for them to immediately create it as their own.
I need this type of Mario game in my life! If the creators of this game make a successor to this on Kickstarter I would buy the shoes off that game

big mario is such a good way of showing life points without depending on a lifebar... the game looks amazing but it changed one of the best things in mario that is not having a lige bar poluting the screen, and being able to get this information by looking in the character
the level gimmicks and how it shows the mechanics is top level though

I'd say they're about even, because this definitely has so many about it that are better than Mario Multiverse such as graphics, music, but at the same time, Mario Multiverse has so much more you can do with it. It's kinda like comparing Super Mario Maker with like, Super Mario Galaxy
