good review! of all the low profile boom arms, which would you recommend? also are all ball head mounts plastic? are there any that are metal that you know of?
Thanks, I appreciate it. TLDR: I would go for either the Maono, or I-Xtech lizard boom arm (non pro if you don't need a headphone holder), Maono and I-xtech are the same design. I haven't seen any plastic ball head mounts(Besides the locking mechanism) but I am currently using I-xtech and their ball head mount is metal and is great. Honestly The Bm88 is still one of my favorites on the budget side of things. but my favorite on the mid range side of things is either this Maono or I-xtech which I realized are the same exact design. but I believe i-xtech has a white color option... Currently I am using the white I-xtech lizard boom arm. The Elgato LP arm is on the higher end, but they did a new redesign which I haven't got to try yet. Which includes holes on both the top and bottom giving you more options in terms of cable routing, and they got stronger magnets for the cable management cabinets . But honestly if you don't care about branding I would personally choose either the maono or ixtech. will save you about 20 bucks or more depend on the sales or coupons they have available compared to the Elgato, and they feel a little more "heavy" compared to the Fifine Bm88, As for the ball heads I haven't encounter any of these boom arms to have plastic ones. I do know the I-xtech comes with a real good quality one. I do remember one of them had a ball head mount I didn't like as much but can't remember which one. @@Yiro. thanks for the detailed response. unfortunately amazon AU doesn't stock the maono one unless i wait 2-3 weeks... i'll check out the i-xtech one. not opposed to the elgato lp but if i can save a few $$, i'd want to do that. :D
