      I don't think they get offered full shares by either the B1G or SEC, money is getting tight. Fox has already said they are tapped out. ESPN will have some extra cash once they don't have to pay the ACC media deal anymore, but I expect them to play hardball and try to get ACC teams on the cheap.

      Yeah, it wouldn't make sense unless they have a conference lined up to accept them. Athletically and culturally most ACC members would be a good fit for the SEC. Will be interesting to see what the SEC does since the SEC started this conference realignment talk back in early 90s adding Ark and USC.

    • @tomdemay6147
      @tomdemay6147 2 месяца назад

      people need to use common sense. It's OBVIOUS that FSU, Clemson, UNC, UVA, Miami are all safe. All are big enough brands where at least 1 if not BOTH of the SEC and Big 10 will want them. NC State and Virginia Tech safe too because worst case they will be picked up as backup teams just to be in those states. Neither the Big 10 or the SEC will want to "cede" the Carolinas/Virginia to the Big 12 and let them into that market. Georgia Tech is the bubble team. SEC probably not interested, Big 10 would take them if they have room but if they get their "top picks" like UNC/UVA they might run out of room. Duke is bubble team, again depending on who goes where they could end up in P2 or could fall to Big 12. Pitt/Louisville are locks to the Big 12. Syracuse/Boston College/Wake Forest are bubble Big 12 teams and could end up there or could end up in the Big East or AAC.

      @RogerBates7 2 месяца назад +1

      100 % it was a terrible deal. The only thing I'll say for Swofford is this... at the time, there was a basis to lock into a long-term deal. Realignment had just wrecked the Big East, which was probably the conference most like them in terms of geography, basketball prowess (albeit much weaker in football) and they wanted something in place to lock in their teams in so that they wouldn't have the eventual Pac 12 scenario happen to them. The problem is that Swofford either didn't see the payoff that was coming down the line or didn't think his brands were good enough to demand it, so he allowed them to be locked in at a terrible amount of money with no avenue to negotiate.

Nothing ultra strategic with those teams other than it further divides the ACC's resources BUT they both have a law school like FSU does. I personally don't quite understand why everybody is celebrating the potential demise of the ACC. This is all driven by football. I take the Chip Kelly approach: Football should separate from the rest of the sports. Let them all become independents in football and have your AFC/NFC. Leave the other sports to your regional conferences like the ACC, SEC, Big 12, PAC 12, Big 10, etc. There's no reason why a girls' softball team should travel cross-country to play a mid-week regular season conference game. The only revenue sports are football & basketball.

Fox has said they are done till 2030, so who buys up the extra games and realistically they will be last in line getting to pick games every week, so they won't get any marquee matchups to watch on whatever platform that is Apple TV or something else. The money from that might be enough for a couple schools taking partial shares till 2030. There just isn't much money left to go around for the B1G if Fox is tapped out. ESPN on the other hand will be getting out of the ACC media deal, so they will have extra cash to fund 2-4 teams into the SEC, depending on if they full shares 2 teams, half shares could get 4 teams. Then ESPN could toss the big12 a few bucks to take a few ACC leftovers.
