You saved me. Teacher gave me 3 days to do an animation. I thought I was about to fail. had no idea there was possible to make an animation in illustrator until I saw this. Thanks man.
Very similar to what I do! You can do the exact same thing as shown in the video but once you export pictures from Illustrator, you can just merge them into gif online quite simple - quicker and especially awesome if you don't have access to Photoshop, I hope that helps! :)
I did everything step-by-step in this video, got to the part in photo shop where I check "image sequence" but it only loads one image even after opening the "motion" window. Under layers it has my first image with a red question-mark at the Botton left corner of the image. So I don't have a play button available because it's acting as though I only have 1 image.
Thank you for your great video! I have done a few animations now and they've worked perfectly from your tutorial. The only issue I am having is that my designs Ive made in Illustrator have a white stroke on them as gifs (100% had no strokes when I made my design in illustrator), how do I get rid of the white strokes? Thanks!
The issue lies in when it it shown on a transparent background under the 'optimized' option. In the 'original' option the white stroke disappears. (in save for web in Photoshop)
Hi, quick question.. first of all thanks ! super easy to understand. However, if I save and want to open the gif on my laptop it only shoes my Illustrator pics.. can you help me out? Tried it already several times (obviously saved it as GIF file..) Thanks, Tabea
Hey Tabea - If you are sure that the GIF is saved you can try opening it in chrome or another browser. It's not always possible to view a GIF on a computer. Open up Chrome, and then drag the GIF onto the Chrome window. It should then play your GIF
For some reason I can't click the play button in photoshop. I did everything up to putting the ball01 png image into photoshop and clicking motion, but when I try to press play It won't let me do that?
The Adobe stuff (Adobe Animate, After Effects) can take care of these kinds of things. But they are quite big and difficult to learn, as they handle any kind of animation you can think of. You can also use Blender (free) to do these kinds of animations. Blender is a full 3D animation package, but I've seen some amazing 2D work done on it.
when I reached Export, i could not select 'use artboards'. It was greyed out, along with the other options. Do you know a solution? Thanks for the tutorial, it's really helped me
is there any way to rotate an object in photoshop and it still animate? I'm trying to make a clock but when i use transform and rotate it applies to the first and the second frame instead of just the second frame. As far as i'm aware you can only get movement to apply if you use the move tool only which locks movement to moving simply up down left and right. Rotation seems to be ignored
that's really simple in Illustrator. When you make your drawings using shapes, you can add text by clicking on the Text button (the button with the letter 'T'). Type your text and it will be on the frames. Be sure that if you have text, you copy it to a few frames (like 3 - 5) otherwise it will just flash on and off quickly and nobody will be able to read it
@@techismad oh sorry, i was talking about photoshop cs6, i mistakenly wrote "illustrator" in my comment. I don't have any loop option in photoshop cs6.
@@usamarahman CS6 is quite an old version, like 8 years old. Let me see if I can remember how to do this. If you have imported in all your pictures into a timeline, then next to the play, rewind and forward buttons there should be a a setting button that says once, and forever. If I am not mistaken, this will loop the timeline. Once you Save for Web, you should also have an option to loop once, or forever there before you save it as a GIF
In Photoshop? The key is to click on the first image, and then choose "Image Sequence" (click on Options at the bottom of the load window if you can't see it)

@@oliviaoduro8989 ok, I'll try to explain what I did. If you watch every step in Illustrator, I do the same thing. I draw the ball, press SHIFT + O, and then press ALT and drag the artboard. What that does is copy the artboard, but also copy the ball as well. Once it's copied, I press V on the keyboard, and then click on the ball. I use the right key on the keyboard to move the ball to the right. If you listen, I actually press SHIFT + RIGHT so that the ball moves more. Once I've moved the ball, I then press SHIFT + O, drag the artboard with ALT pressed down (which makes a copy) and put the new artboard next to the old. Press V again and then move the ball. The idea is that each artboard you copy, you'll also move the ball a little bit more. Once the ball reaches the right side of the artboard, you can then copy the artboards and now move the ball to the left. That's what I talk about at 3:52. - let me know if this helps you to understand it a little better

What’s the point of creating the frames in Illustrator when you can just make them in Photoshop?

Just use illustrator with after effects
I made this tutorial for my students - I would happily use After Effects but for them it would be too difficult.
Can I make animation like danny Casale like with that
By the way
Don't read my Name
Not using this method - you'll have to use a proper animation program - Synfig Studio, or Krita, or even Pencil
Did not work - followed exactly!
