I still can't hear anyone talking about Miura's passing without crying. The fact that I'm this torn up over a person that I never met or knew shows how powerful and meaningful his story was.

I come pretty close, even as a jaded edgelord. Every time it gets brought up again or I glance on anything berserk it just feels like something wrong occurred in the world. This is still the worst timeline.

About ten days after his passing, I was handling it very well... until, while sitting at a bar, I came across a wonderful piano rendition of Guts's theme in my recommends. I started tearing up, and had to go outside. It was then that I truly felt what it must have been like for a Nirvana fan when Kurt Cobain committed suicide.
I had cried over Ryan Davis from Giant Bomb, as the newest podcast was releasing on my birthday, and that turned out to be when the rest of the guys made the announcement.
But fuck. Honestly, I'm so incredibly happy to have found Berserk, and even to have gone through the struggle of such rare releases. It had heart beyond heart.
I understand how you feel. Berserk has honestly saved my life. When i was younger, I was very self destructive and really bad with abusing substances. Guts' journey was the kick in the ass i needed.

Fun fact: Elfen Lied got my high school anime club shut down because one of the leads was stupid and thought we could show that to everyone on our first meeting of the year, including freshmen. Someone told their parents what they saw, they contacted the school, and needless to say our club got gutted. XD;

@Hi_Nu Ver 0 Zero_Tester Most schools allowed you to make a club if you had enough starting members and asked lol. It's most likely that nobody tried to organize at your schools, so they just never came about. We had one in 04 but it was around only 8 members that got a period off each week to meet in the library lmao.
The only thing that makes Berserk ending beareble is that Guts can stay forever in fayrieland with his companions. No longer living in hate. Not a bad ending after all. Thanks Miura.

I was really interested in when he included the time dilation thing on the island. He probably planned for a good amount of time to pass with rickert and Griffith.

Not gonna lie, him dying is less traumatic than reading Berserk. Its a pity, yeah. Berserk reminds me of ptsd or schizophrenia for a bit of it. And I *had* Psychosis before. Whenever I read it, I was getting anxiety. Guts learning to form bonds again is great. Its hard for me to not be somewhat removed considering I had full anhedonia during my psychosis time before.

It's tragic indeed that kentaro miura has passed, berserk is just an absolute titan inspiring so many great things I grew up loving. Even though it'll never get finished there were some pretty big threads that got resolved and the journey is completely worth taking.
Also... even though I don't think i'll ever be able to get into fighting games I still end up buying so many fighting games... curse your beauty guilty gear strive... it just looks so amazing so I know one day I'll end up getting it

Last I heard he'd trained two assistance in finishing it in the event he died and if their work (Check out Duranki it's stunning) is anything to go off of they're more than capable of doing it depending on how many notes or how much of Miura's vision was shared with them.

Disco Elysium is one of the best games I've ever played, and almost definetly best written. Only thing that makes me angry about it is how well it puts to words some ideas and thoughts I've struggled with in my own writing and that I've never really found way to bring out.
Can't agree more, got it dirty cheap because it looked cool. The best thing about it is how mundane and crazy it is at the same time. But holy hell no phisique is a pain and the apartment deaths really craked me up.

The more I think about it, the more satisfied I become with how Berserk ultimately ended.
The most forward themes of the story were always about finding peace, and finding your own reason to live, and in a way, having a very comedic chapter be what we were left with feels right.
The sprawling demon armies and battles that Miura could create were always impressive, but the most breathtaking panels he made were the ones of calm, when I look back the scenes that stand out the most arent the creating of Griffith's kindgom or Guts' first encounter with Zodd, it's pages like this one, of the characters having quiet moments of peace with one another, and having this story end, in its current form, with Isidro flipping skirts as carefree as he could be while puck makes a sheev reference couldn't be any less fitting.
Alex deserves the attention. He's amazingly driven, informed and passionate.

I have the opposite feeling... I knew Berserk is a super hyped up manga. I never bothered picking it up but knowing the creator passed away immediately wanted to make me read it.
Theres a reason why its hyped up, but people then increase their standards for getting immersed and don't see anything immediate validating it so lose interest. But then when they find it on their own, its amazing. Traumatizing but amazing.
I only started recently binging my first read through of Berserk. I thought it would have been overhyped, but actually, it broke every expectation and surpassed them, it is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Anybody wanting an excellent anime this summer, look no further than To Your Eternity, a heart-rending and beautiful story about an inanimate orb learning how to exist in the world, slowly becoming more aware as it interacts with various people in several small-scale vignettes that have some of the most likeable characters I've seen in a long time.
Thank you so much for shining a light on Odd Taxi, for how incredible it is it’s criminal just how little attention it’s been getting.

That's not necessarily true, taste is subjective and everyone can have differing opinions on things, for example personally I don't care for jujutsu kaisen at all, although I also don't like shonen so that's not surprising

Yeah like he says he only likes to talk about things he is passionate about which helps because you as the viewer are being entranced but not by words alone but sheer joy and excitement which you would want to feel just like him.
OddTaxi is one of the most underrated shows I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing and I’m glad you recommended it. It’s become not only one of my favourite anime this year, but just of all time!

That’s one of my favorite screen pictures in the entirety of berserk. When I was in middle school I had an iPod touch (first gen), and I used it to go on the browser and read pirated manga (I purchase manga these days -_-). I had just watched the horrific finale of the anime, and immediately found that there was no animated continuation… so I started reading right where the anime left off. That’s when I found out just how beautiful the manga art was. Eventually, I came to this moment. They all get to the coast and it’s just such a precious fleeting moment. I screen captured it and held onto it for years. Nowadays I see every single reviewer use that moment in their videos and I feel validated knowing that we all recognized together how great it was.
Time to shape my personality around the content you tell me to consume!
Edit: RIP Kentaro Miura. Berserk is the absolute best.

What I liked most about Elfen Leid is their visual representation of telekinesis that was different from anything I had seen up till then.

man, i saw hazel's elfin lien video and as i was watching it i was like, "this seems like something SEP would like.... would not be surprised if this ended up in his Favorite Things video" AND LO AND BEHOLD
After watching this I watched a few random videos and was so-so about the presentation and content. Then I got to the 7.07 mark in the soul eater vid and hit a wall. I don't have particular skin in the game in question but something about throwing a statement like that out there doesn't sit well with me, but of course everyone's mileage will vary.

sometimes I get into a slump, I feel like I get stuck somehow in life, but these videos let me know of creators and shows, etc that might interest me and I really value your channel and what it does because of that. Dude Jujutsu Kaisen takes off so fkn hard right after where the anime left off. That shits insane right now. Fire Force is also in a solid spot too. Invincible was super fun and I still listen to the soundtrack. I am into FFXIV finally and it’s starting to pick up (I’m at lvl 40). It’s a good summer.
Completely agree about berserk: if you’re interested, please read it. There is nothing else like it.

I just finished her Elfin Lied video and I can absolutely see why SEW reccomended it. It's like the Breadsword Gurren Lagann video, but the female counterpart to that video's clearly masculine leanings (not in a bad way, masculinity will always be a piece of any good Gurren Lagann discussion). It's so well-done in how it goes from an analysis in a vacuum to building every bit of personal context around Elfin Lied.
As a manga reader, thing the about Jujutsu Kaisen is that the plot only really starts going after where the anime stopped.
Reading it, I only felt meh about it until the arc that comes right after the last parts we saw in the anime. After that, and it's probably my favourite shonen next to One Piece and Chainsaw Man. And that's really saying something.

In This Corner of the World had me feeling what people said Grave of the Fireflies would make me feel but ultimately didn't. The great thing about In This Corner as well is that while the lows are absolutely crushing, it is an ultimately hopeful story that proves that, no matter what happens, life is worth living.
Thank you for making so much progress on the rhythm of your videos. Not only did they improve in quality, but they are now incredibly more "comfortable" to listen to.
It felt shallow to criticise you on this point, but it does make a worls of difference, at least to me.
