After watching this video I ordered the module as per part number for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. This fix/replacement solved my multiple transfer case issues.
    Fixed my:
    - Clicking noise at transfer case.
    - Knocking at 2nd/3rd gear change.
    - Service 4wheel drive system & traction control warning light.
    - 4x4 Low is now working.
All in 10 minutes and $115usd from Amazon!
Thank you for making & posting this video!! 👌🏼😁👌🏼!

So glad I came across your video. My wife’s GC was shifting weird and clunking in reverse. It also had that chatter sound underneath at start up. Stressing out because her transfer case was replaced at only 43K miles by Jeep a couple of years ago at a whopping $3200.00. Only 13000 miles later it was acting up. Mind you, her truck only has 56K miles. Based on the symptoms, I thought for sure it was a mechanical issues that would probably warrant spending thousands. Anyway, saw your video, ordered the replacement transfer case module and seems to have solved the issue. The give away for me was the chatter sound underneath at start up. Thank you!

I'm about to replace this on my jeep. The chatter during start up and idling at traffic lights, the weird clunkyness backing up and slowly turning, like in a parking garage. Hope I can avoid a costly repair. I'm now wondering if slow air leak in a tire or 2 caused this, or maybe oversized tires without setting the computer for the larger diameter tires the trouble?

    • @martinruiz141
      @martinruiz141 4 месяца назад

@@ShaunyBoys-wf6zr from the sound of it, it does sound like the module went bad. I’ve also heard that these transfer cases are very sensitive and if there is slight uneven wear on the tires, it can cause the transfer case to go bad. Don’t know if low tire pressure would cause that, but definitely uneven tire tread wear. You can find the module online ranging from $100.00 - $500.00. I went OEM and paid around $279.00 from an online dealer. Good luck!

@@martinruiz141 Thank you for your reply. Fingers crossed the module is the only thing needed. Mopar website lists 2 TCCM options, for $670 and $582- I decided to buy the cheap knockoff from Amazon for $80 - but upon watching some more videos on this subject, I suspect the transfer case is fried from being neglected and changing to larger AT tires... time will tell!

Hi Mate - great video and explanations - i am getting the message on 4WD service on my Jeep GC 2015 V8. Any suggestion on how to fix this without going into expensive dealer?
What i have done so far:
Scanning shows DTMC C1403-92 and ABS U0403-00.
    Removed battery for 5 - 10 minutes
Removed Transfer Case Control Module under the driver seat and placed it back for any lose connections.
Added Transmission Fluid at 100K, now the jeep is 120K, issue started now at around 120K.
Should i need to fix in following order:
    Change Differential Fluid? 75w85?
    Change Transfer Case Fluid? ATF+4?
Change the Transfer Case Control Module itself? (under driver seat)?
    Check wheel sensor?
..... What would be the best sequence to troubleshoot?

He had to change also the motor on the rear differential, otherwise the TCM here from the video burns very fast. The local dealership wanted 2300usd for the change of the motor of the dif and potentially to replace the rear diff 24.000usd. With a second hand part for 370 usd the issue was fixed. So as a conclusion, make always the right troubleshooting before starting to invest.

Bad tires can ruin the transfer case on these vehicles?

    • @TheEddysGarage

Absolutely. If the rolling diameter is off from wear, mismatched sizes or even different brand or model tires it can ruin the transfer case because all 4 corners aren’t tuning at the same speed.

Try replacing the fluid and the module. No, the module does not need to be programmed (read the comments because lots of dealers try to scam you and say that it does). Make your you have all the same brand, model and size of tires on all 4 corners. Even if they have the same size written on them id doesn't mean they are the same size because different manufactures measure slightly differently and if it is off it will destroy the transfer case. Tires, fluid and a module are a lot cheaper than a transfer case!!!

I need some advice - 2013 3.0 CRD - C140A-92 error showed up: transfer case motor control performance/incorrect operation. I also had the loud bang when changing gears (yet not the rattling sound) so decided to get the new module. The' bang' disappeared - now drives and changes gears smoothly yet for short time rattling emerged - then disappeared. The error initially disappeared, later on returned. When the error is displayed I'm unable to engage the low range; when disappears - I can get to low range... Any suggestions? Will it be the motor itself? The error shows the transfer case clutch beyond the standard position (or something like this) whatever it means... Did you ever have anything like that? Can you advise anything, please? Thanks

Sorry I haven’t had that issue. Have you checked for metal in the transfer case fluid?

@@TheEddysGarage I checked and changed oil in transfer case, differentials, gear box. I'm thinking if there's a chance that the motor is broken and unable to work properly or there may be some damage inside the transfer box (got strange sound - the faster drive the faster it knocks) - will need to open the whole box and check inside yet wouldn't want if not necessary...

@@alexhering8428 all your tires relatively new, same size, make and model? That’s what kills a transfer case.

@@TheEddysGarage all tyres Pirelli Scorpio changed about a year ago yet I wonder what to do to stop the error returning - even when cleared shows again almost immediately. There must be some constatnt issue. Swapping the module helped for the changing gear issue yet there must be also some another problem...
