I can’t thank you enough. I had my Service 4WD and service electronic stable control light on with the clunking noise at the start. I took it to the dealership, and they said the lights were due to internal failure of the Transfer case and the only way to resolve this is to replace the transfer case, which will cost me $4980.53, including parts and labor. I searched RUclips for the issue; your video was the first search result. I ordered the Transfer case module from Amazon for $128 and replaced it as you explained, and the issue was fixed. Thank you again for saving me $$$$.

Did you try resetting the fault codes? You could have a bad TCM.
Aso make sure your steering angle is correct when you check through the dash. Turn steering wheel from left to right and watch that it changes. Also, check for any broken wires on your speed sensors at each wheel.( this is common on the rears, cables rubbing through). Also, If you have an OBD reader you can check the rotation speed of each wheel while you drive. If there is any deviation in speed at one of the sensors change it as it's not picking up the speed correctly and thinks your car is losing traction constantly. Hope that helps and gives you something to check. 👍

I believe you may have saved me lots of money and time if what I am seeing here on your video is correct, so Thank You for this video, Sir.
I did want to inquire if there are any scenarios where this part would need to be programmed?

@gbcautoworks Sir, I honestly believe that you have posted one of the most useful videos ever concerning the WK2.
I see so many people with this issue on the forums and they change fluids, change transfer cases, pay dealerships thousands of dollars for them to play the guessing game.
I can attest that the transfer case control module eliminated the clunk, the clicking at start-up, as well as the warning lights and depreciated ride comfort.
$300, plug and play just as you stated!!! You literally saved me from considering trading my Jeep in, so many thanks to you, Sir for being willing to share your knowledge and expertise.

Hey mate, have you tried the easiest things first, battery power when the car is running , also any blown fuses, and checked for any broken wires around the wheels, at the module and at the transfer case motor. The cheapest option is the transfer case control module. Do you know anyone who could let you swap it out to see if it cures your issue?

What happens if you clear your codes? Does it come back straight away or after a few days? Error code indicates transfer case position sensor. Have you checked the connector plug and wiring at the sensor? Could be an issue there, the sensor itself or possibly at the module.

Jeep service center said it would be the transfer case module

    • @gbcautoworks
      @gbcautoworks  Месяц назад

I would unplug the actuator first. See if it makes a difference. If not ,pull out the actuator and drive it a short distance and see if that helps with how it drives. I think it sounds like it's seizing up, hence why you have an overheating fault coming up.
Also, pull out some of the diff fluid and check that too, make sure it's not all burnt and black in colour, which would indicate it needs changing.
Did Jeep not do a thorough diagnosis of your car? Seems strange they said that it was the TCCM when clearly it's something else...
Can you plug your car in and scan it. Then try resetting everything, including all adaptives.
AlfaOBD is a good scan tool. Get the app on your phone and buy the obd port connection and your in. Hope that helps 🙏

Are your rear wheels binding when you turn a sharp corner while parking etc? So if you put your steering wheel to left or right and try turning slowly you will hear the rear wheel dragging. Mine was doing this and I changed the rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid. It's worth a try before buying a new transfer case.
I changed my transfer case module as I was getting a bit of a clunk now and again. Also, the transfer case motor can start to rattle on and off. This module change usually sorts out out.
