I got my Vidda Pro jacket in Laurel Green, size medium today and man I couldn't be happier with it. Because of their scarcity, I thought about other options like Greenland or No 68, but neither one had all the features of the Vidda Pro that I liked, so I'm glad I didn't settle. Fit is exactly what I want for me - not fitted, but not boxy or baggy, with enough room for any kind of decent base and mid layers. Pockets are perfect, and the hood that I thought might be too big really isn't. Super happy with this choice, but can't IMAGINE why they stopped making this model.
The feeling I got through out the years is that the models come and go, the usually come back in an updated and for the most part better way, let’s hope it’s the same here!
Great features, this jackets on my shopping list. More outtakes please, they show you're human like the rest of us! Plus your sense of humour is so funny.
I have this jacket in the same colour. It was the only one in medium (I'm 6' 1" /184cm and I'm a large in all my other jackets) I could find anywhere in the UK or online anywhere in Europe, which kind of tells me they are discontinuing this jacket and going instead with the newer wool-lined one, which I didn't want as imo a hard shell jacket should be just that. On a wet but warm day with the wool-lined version you'd have no way to layer down so you'd either have to take it off and carry it and get wet, or cook! I'd much sooner have the option of just layering up, or down, rather than having a vidda pro that is pretty much an exclusively cold-weather jacket. I can still use mine through the spring and even in summer it will keep me dry (and here in the UK that's all must) without making me feel uncomfortably warm/hot. If you're cold then simply add another layer. It's not rocket science. If Fjallraven have decided to discontinue this jacket in favour of the wool-lined version then I think that was a very bad decision, and not one that most hikers or outdoorsmen will appreciate. Only those living in places where it is always cold will benefit from the wool-lined version. But that's just my personal opinion. And if I actually did manage to buy the very last one in medium then it makes me appreciate it all the more. But I can't imagine a company like Fjallraven would be so short-sighted as to just stop making this jacket, and if they did make that decision I can't think what made them view it as a good idea.
@Darrenski Totally agree! I searched for HOURS here in the US. I think I found the last medium in the US. It's in their Laurel Green color which is fine with me. It should get here on Thursday.
Just got a jacket, love it. I've been looking for a windproof smock replacement that will stand up to regular use. Features, quality, and fit are great.
Jacket runs big but only around the waist and hem.... I sent mine back because of that, I would have kept it though if it had a waist drawcord to tether in that extra room.... I wasn't prepared to drop down a size because I know the arm length would be too short then, another thing I noticed that could be improved especially for the price is the thin drawcord material, when using the drawcords on the hood they felt too stretchy like they would not last too long .... other than that, if it fits, its a great jacket, especially if you need lots of pockets
Excellent, thanks for doing this review Ted. Looks like a hybrid between the Skogso and Singi Trekking jacket with a few additional features. Nice jacket.
@@mark19850304 the Skogso isn't a warm jacket as it's made from G1000 only but it is an effective shell garment that would need an insulating layer underneath in cold weather.

Hey I know this is an older video but I have a question... do I need to size down on this because someone in another video said he usually wore a size large but went down to a medium and it still looked a bit big on him. So should I get a medium instead of a large?
Best is of course If you could try them in the store, you can also check the size guide on their website and measure after that. With that said I agree to size down if you don’t have the other options:)

Breathability and ventilation looks pretty poor, must be a problem with moisture build up during higher activity levels. Opening up the jacket every time you want to ventilate seems impractical and defeats the purpose of keeping body heat in.
It's not a jacket for high intensity activities. It's more ment for slower walks and bushcrafting in the colder months. While some venting zips certainly wouldn't hurt I don't think overheating is such a big issue in this.
I went with the Keb jacket and it is my favorite jacket to wear but the soft shell makes it less of a forest option even if you add an ecoshell ontop, so I also have the Anorak no. 8. It is g1000, like this vita pro jacket.
@@TedWeirum I didn't mind the way it worked out. You know though that color coordination makes a huge difference in how this clothing looks? I've had some ugly match ups and also some great looking color mixes. The fog color goes okay with black.

Thank you Martin I might do a full review later on depending on if people are interested in it or not. If you can only choose one I’d go with the Keb eco shell, great protection against both wind and rain, sturdy, ventilating and reliable!
I'd love to get this jacket as I am slowly transitioning my outdoor pursuit from long distance walking to sitting by the campfire next to a lake kind of camping. Long distance walk isn't doable anymore due to life responsibilities. My hesitation with the vidda pro jacket is the fit. It's overly baggy and the arms are too long. In my opinion, the new greenland jacket has the best fit amongst the Fjallraven jackets. I have the winter version, there's plenty to love about it, but I need something with more utility and better hood. Is there a Fjallraven jacket that is similar to Vidda Pro but better fitting?
@@TedWeirum Thanks mate. Sorry, I just saw your reply. I went with the Vidda Pro jacket and I kinda fell in love with the roomy fit in the end. I'm curious Ted about what temperature conditions you'd say the jacket would be good... Are we talking -5C or would it be good dipping down to lower temperatures like -35C... places differ in seasons... Here in Canada spring and fall can get real cold...so I'm obviously curious as to what temperature you would rate the jacket good to.
Hey Neil! All that boils down to what you’re doing and what you have underneath. Sitting still in -5c with just a T-shirt under is going to be really cold. Moving around with a down jacket underneath will make you sweat. Think of this jacket as an outer layer, good for use all year around depending on activity and layers underneath. The only place I’d say it might not be cut out for his heavy rain, it can withstand some rain and you can improve the water resistance with the Greenland wax. Hope that answers your question!
@@TedWeirum ThanksvTed..you gave me exactly what I was after. It's more of an outer shell type jacket with no heavy insulation...so long underwear and multiple layers for cold climates is a must besides... Since it's an outer layer and waxable.. I’m disappointed in mine. It’s my first Fjallraven product together with the Vidda pants and I thought they would be more water resistant out of the box. I took it 1h15 through moderate rain and the rain came through on several spots. Also the pants got soaking wet on the knees, and I haven’t been kneeling, and where the water from the jacket drips on the pants. The fit from the pants is way too baggy from the knees down. I am in the mountains of the NW North America. In my opinion it is a little bit on the slim side. By this I mean, through the arms/shoulders/chest (mid size, not over weight, male). I would go up a size if you need space to move and for plenty of fleece or wool layering (Fahrenheit temps 40s / 30s / 20s / if moving 10s). It is important to have some space for air to move around in between the insulating layers and the shell layer. This helps to expel moisture/sweat, which helps keep us dry. If you cinch your shell down too much for too long it will be like a sauna, and all the insulating layers will get super damp and they will loose their loft and become less insulating. Even wool and synthetic fleece. Hope this helps.

I have keb eco shell to protect me from the rain/wind, but I dont like using it around the fireplace or when carrying wood as it might get damaged.
Is this like new new, or the same since a few months back? I just bought one a few months ago😋
This should be the same then! :)
Ted Weirum cool, thanks!
What is the jacket size?
M! :)
Har du på deg large eller Medium? Takk for svar
Kör oftast medium!
I currently own the Greenland Winter jacket and im looking for something i can use for the other seasons as the winter one is too warm. Would you recommend the regular greenland or the vidda pro?
I’d try the vidda pro if you’re looking for a roomier jacket with a lot of pockets! Let me know what you went with
Nice review bro!
Thanks brother! Appreciate your support!
My friend, is this jacket windy?
Nope, you can also reinforce it more with wax!
@@TedWeirum Which jacket would you recommend for the wind?
Keb eco Shell, great for both wind and rain
What color are you wearing in the vidda pro jacket?
Its the dark grey - black :)
Ted Weirum Thank you! Love the videos!
I’m trying to decide between the vidda, keb eco shell, or abisko eco - shell. I do most of my hiking and backpacking during the spring and summer in the PNW. What jacket out of those three do you think would be best for that?
Keb eco shell will get you through!
Ted Weirum alright awesome, have you ever tried the Abisko Eco-shell Jacket?
I think it’s from a few years back but I could be mistaken.
I’ve seen it, never tried it, I think it’s a lighter version of the Keb eco shell :)
Thank you for this video! I am deciding between 3 Fjallraven jackets for the most every-day all purpose, any opinions are much appreciated!
Raven Jacket, pros: urban casual /cons: different colour hood, smaller hand pockets
Greenland Jacket, pros: dedicated hood, larger hand pockets / cons: fixed hood
Vidda Pro Jacket, pros: most pockets, adjustable hood / cons: maybe too boxy, maybe too technical for urban settings.
What do you think?
Hey brother, yeah it’s a tough one.. the Greenland might be the go to jacket here.. I guess it depends what you do on a day to day basis, any specific needs in your everyday life?
@@TedWeirum Keep up the great content! Excellent presentation! No specific demands, walks, dog park, light camping/ hiking. Greenland might strike the balance.
what size do you recommend? im 185cm and 89kg.
That’s a tough one, I got mine in M and I’m 181 and around 75kg, it’s roomy for me, might be a bit tight for you.
@@TedWeirum Im going with L then. Thanks :)
Did the L work? We're the same size, and I have the same question. I wear L in Greenland Winter Jacket, but so many people say SIZE DOWN!
@@Paulteee Yes, L is the correct size. I also have the revised Greenland Winter Jacket in L.
@@waksibra I just received my Vidda Pro in L yesterday and it's absolutely perfect for layering in L (meaning I have a good amount of room without it being a floppy mess). I don't know why so many people have trouble with the sizing. It's just like the Greenland Winter if you're accounting for the fuzzy layer not being there. Thanks for your help!
How’s the hood?
It provides great cover from the elements, I like it!
No breathability?
The material itself breath a bit depending on how much wax you use, no side ventilation at the moment, I hope we’ll see that in the future though! Thanks for watching!
@@TedWeirum Hei!
Takker for mange flotte videoer du lager!🙂🏕️
Förstår!
Tack för att du tittar broder!
Ska upp till Bergen nu i slutet av februari! Äntligen!! :)
Describe the Hood ......
I’ll see if we can dig into it in a coming video!
Ted, thanks for the in depth review, just one question, how warm is this jacket compared to the Greenland jacket and Greenland Winter jacket?
It’s not a winter jacket in that aspect, it’s more of a g1000 shell, with the right middle layers you’d be good tough
