- It's not everyday that you come across one of the most iconic Porsches with a scant 1600 miles on the clock. But we were lucky enough to find this exceptional example of the car that changed everything for Porsche, the car that made Porsche what it is today. Sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy.

959: Brain.
F40: Heart.
I absolutely love both the 959 and F40, by far a dominant duo
Richard Hammond raced the two on a Top Gear episode.
If you could have one or the other in pristine condition... Which would you choose? (u better say what I'm thinking) j/k.
For me I like the 959 better but both great a,along cars
The best Porsche model off all time. Was so groundbreaking and ahead of its time
You said it!
oh ja! )
At least it tried. According to several mag I read back in the day (Never driven one, not going to lie) it didn't work out as wll as expected.
Beautiful representation of a 959... Maybe do a story on how those 959's sat in L.A. Customs warehouse for years , not being granted entry into the U.S.
Very cool. My good friend was responsible for cutting that 959 in half and designing the display that went around the world during his time at Porsche. For many years he kept the other half of the car and told me that knowing what he knows now, he should have trimmed the car in such a way that he would have had the serial number :)
I'm curious if he remembers the serial number of the other half?
@@bena9049 Not a chance. This was years before anyone thought to care about that kind of stuff.
I had a poster of the 959 in my Army barracks in 1989! One of my favorite super cars. Ironically I was stationed in Germany at the time.
The 959 was so ahead of its time, that it unknowingly engineered 911s to come but also the Bugatti Veyron.
From a VW point of view, this is perhaps the predecessor to the Veyron
How so, are there any videos the go into detail on this?
@@Jdalio5 its the flagship posrche, built to be the very best - they were going to bin the engine over the rear design.
then they went all in , put everything into this model, everything thy had developed for other companies and put the motor in the rear, when it was made ferrari had decided to keep with rear engined for their flagship f40 too, it was a standoff to grab the fastest car in the world title.
porsche went a step further and planned it into a proper road car too- beating ferrari to the title of "worlds fastest prod. car" especially after group B had been nixxed- the prize now wasnt racing , it was to make the best road car.
porsche went one better than ferrari and made it a really usable car ...its significantly heavier than the f40, like the veyron too, its an actually usable road car, the f40 is race tuned, race weighted, screaming monster in comparison....
not only that they went all s class mercedes on the features...
It really is the veyron before the veyron....noone could afford one either...
The one thing that really brings the veyron comparison is by how much it smashed the speed record...and how both porsche and vw did it...the speed record has been swapped for twnety years from lamborghini to ferrari and back again...adding 4mph or so each time..
1949 Jaguar XK120 124.6
1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing 150.7
1959 Aston Martin DB4 GT 152
1963 Iso Grifo GL 365 161
1967 AC Cobra MkIII 165
1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 171
1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona 174
1969 Lamborghini Miura P400S 179
1982, 84 Lamborghini Countach 182.0, 188.0
1984 Ferrari 288 GTO 188
1986 Porsche 959 197
1987 Ferrari F40 202.7
1995 Ruf CTR2 217
1998 McLaren F1 221
2005 Koenigsegg CCR 241
2005 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 253.8
2007 SSC Ultimate Aero TT 256.1
2010 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport 267.9
2017 Koenigsegg Agera RS 277.9
2020 SSC Tuatara 316.1
and then comes the 959- a 10mph gain and done in wonderful comfort.
as epic as the veyron at the time...
completely smashed the previous record and was a driveableas anything else....
the f40 is a race car for the road, a 288GTO rally car with a bodyshell, plastic windows, it weighs nearly half a ton less than the porsche and only just goes a little bit faster.
One of my favorite cars of all time. Love everything about it.
Your remarkable in-depth knowledge speaks eons into the cars in your gallery. Thanks!
It just pains me to think cars like the 959 is not driven enough. Especially when it’s so far user friendly in comparison to anything in the super car league in those years. And maybe to an extent even today.
You are a very RARE man, you should be proud of yourself!!!
My All time Favourite Porsche, spent almost half n hour ogling it when I visited the Porsche museum.
I saw 2 fully loaded delivery trucks of red 959s parked in Frankfurt back in '89 when I was 12 years old. I've never seen one since.
This channel is so underrated. Keep up the great work on these videos 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Julian!!
The G (Geländ) terrain gear was a trick to get around German regulations. In first gear the 959 was too loud, in second gear the same speed was driven at lower revs and the 959 got through. It is also said to be Porsche's most expensive promotional gift to its customers. The 959 represented what was technically possible at Porsche at the beginning of the 80s.

A Great Find and Interesting Backstory of it...!!! Thanks for sharing.
Love to see more video & pics of this car..!!!
John, thank you for sharing some history on the iconic 959.
Living the dream, man! The caliber of cars you get to drive and see up close are just astounding. Hope to check out the showroom in Miami one of these days!
Thanks for sharing this. Never would see one otherwise. Thanks JT
I have a 959 limited edition print on my office wall. It's Stunning in grey!!!!!
great great video, and you are a super sypathetic person. Thank you for uploading and posting. Very much appreciated
Great job John, love that 959!
Probably the greatest car of the 80s and my favorite Porsche ever made 🤩
I went to a private boarding school for 9th grade. I had a beautiful silver 959 poster on my wall. If I had the financial means to buy a supercar this would be it. Thank you.
Love the videos of the cars and especially the stories behind them, Going to try and get back over to Miami again soon and swing by. Keep it going
DAMN john, Where do you find these Pots of Gold? The "Miami Leprechaun"
Saw this 959 in person. All I can say is wow! Thanks for letting me drool over it! You guys are awesome.
"Hire character, train skill" - love it.
This is like one of the best channels on RUclips I can't believe there are less than 30k subs..
Thank you so much for the kind words!!
Sweet! That Enzo is pretty kick ass as well.
Thanks for the history 😉👍
One of my all time favorite cars ever! Awsome car, so advanced for its day.
The Veyron of the Eighties. A time capsule. Love it.
Its much better than a Veyron.
Thanks John & Created for sharing this Amazing 959 Komfort with us! Not only do I have Popcorn but also some buttered Matzoh! 😂😂
Wishing You, Senja, little John and your Familia a very Happy Easter!
❤🙏🙏🙏❤
Legendary and Amazing. Glad its original. Many are getting converted by canepa.
I just had to watch this again. Beautiful and presented only the way Curated can.
Stunning
I drive by Curated everyday! Every shot and every spot of Miami I see on your show, I have been. We run our own small media company on 27th St. This channel is great! Love the car stories. Love seeing Miami on video
I remember back in 1985 in Europe I was on a train going through the Alps and one of these blew by the train. God what a beautiful car.
Thank you for sharing John.
How can anyone give a porsche a 👎!!
If it won't impact your business could you give us a ball park figure price of these awesome cars please.
I'm so astonished how you're not only able to find these gems but to aquire them as well. If/when I put the cash together, I'm definitely calling you guys. Tier1 curators 4 sure!
Bruce Canepa had one that only had delivery miles on it, then he modded it into a 800hp 230mph monster. What he is doing with 959s is awesome.
Oh and Bruce Canepa is the reason you have 959's in th USA
You nailed it
Undeniably the most iconic Porsches ever made.
The fact that it was years ahead of it's time in an engineering sense.
And the way it paved the way for so many 90s/early 00s Supercars.
This was one of the first exotic cars that I had seen driving on the road. I used to see one with very similar paint up at the JCC building.
Legend !
Btw. A few years ago I was watching an auction where an original 70’s Carrara RS actually sold for same money as 959.
That’s absolutely nuts. Not even close to same league. Love the 959!!!!👍😎
Very beautiful very powerful
2:30 “The "G" stands for the German word "Gelande," which means "terrain." You non-German speakers may recognize the word from the Mercedes G-Wagen, short for Gelandewagen, which translates to "all-terrain vehicle."”
Enjoyed that. As an owner who has driven 10k kms in the last couple of years I can verify everything you say. 🐐
Not keeping hands on 10 & 2 while driving an extremely rare and valuable classic is givin me the sweats.
This car deserves a video all itself with a walk around inside and out showing all the features and what it came with new. And what separated the kormort version from the the non kormort version. Thanls!
Wow!! That’s a beauty!!! Who in their right mind would buy a beast like this and not drive it more!! I guess if you had atleast 2 of them!
Techno masterpiece for its time!! F40 was a raw drivers car which has a very sexy body!
Such a great find!!! Good work guys!’
959 for life 👍👍
Where do you guys find these amazing
there is supposed to be some shipping containers somewhere with AT LEAST 5 959s that have delivery mileage on them. just a rumor :D
are you kidding me? I love this car!!! WOWWWW....
Hope your Lamborchinis sell better the the Porsch ( e ) Lol ! Anyway, nice channel I really like the context keep the good work up .
It's beautiful... I understand why its as is with such a small amount of mileage. But I'd just want to sit in it look at it etc etc. Engineering is amazing so much on these types of vehicles performance safety etcetera. It's just marvelous
Iconic Porsche! Don Johnson had one in the 80s. So that makes it cool anyway 😜 I think 2 years ago there was one for sale in Knokke (Belgium) for €1,2million.
I wish I knew where my old job owners 959 went. It was silver , Carrera seats. Apparently it had a lot of rare options in it. Would’ve been a gem here. Had only 10k miles as well. Car was on display at Gold Coast Porsche in New York
What watch do you wear when driving a 959 ?
I love the RUF version of this car. Incredible.
The F40 was never intended to be a Group B competitor. The 288 GTO was supposed to be homologated for Group B
I owned a 944 and it had almost the exact same interior as this 959 all buttons/controls, seats steering wheel, dash board.
Porsche 959? Doug Demuro would spend 11 minutes talking about the ashtray, door handles and fuel cap
2:48 Hey John, since when was the F40 a group B competitor? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have never seen an off road capable F40.
That is unicorn indeed.
Your German is good. It's Gelände, as in Geländewagen... That is Offroad-Car.
But i remember that demand for the 959 in Germany was big, when it came out, there were ads in Motor Magazins, offering one Million Marks for one. More than double MSRP back then.
Porsche won Paris-Dakar in 1986, but decided not to come back. It was the year when Thierry Sabine, the Founder of the race died in a helicopter crash six days before they arrived in Dakar. So basically, when they celebrated their victory, they did not know if there would be a race next year.
The 959 in general caleasily pass as a recently released model to the average person. Absolutely stunning car.
Porsche, not Porch. Your knowledge of these and the history is amazing, don't let it stop there.
maravilhoso !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greatest car ever
The technology pioneered in the 959 set the standard for Porsche cars for the following decade.
6 years ago i saw one driving through the Chicago suburbs with the suspension jacked up. I probably won't ever see another out in the wild.
I'm surprised Bruce Canepa hasn't bought it from you already. I know he buys them like that and completely apart and rebuilds them.
Yeah seem no one talks about the 959 like the F40 etc, but is such a great car.
I remember rolling in my 959 wearing a 18k Daytona. Wait .... I mean my 914 wearing my Swatch. Damn
😁
Regarding the CGT comment being a burden to Porsche... Carrera GT actually was the best selling Supercars of all time considering the cost of the vehicle and relatively high production numbers. Wouldn't say it was a struggle to sell.
Original 2004 MSRP $440,000 --------- In 2021 that's $616,971.31.
Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. However, Porsche announced in August 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through to 2006, citing discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the United States. By the end of production on 6 May 2006, more than 1,270 cars had been sold, with a total of 644 units sold in the United States and 31 units sold in Canada.[7] In the United Kingdom, 49 units were sold.[8]
That car needs to be Canepa'ised as a finishing touch to be an enjoyable fast car for decades to come
Considering all the technology from 959 filtered through the 911 generations its unfair really to say Porsche lost money on the 959. The return came from the profits on all the 90's cars
Incredible car for its time. Still don't understand why they don't go for more....
Possible this 959 was at Champion Porsche in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I have pics of the car at Champion from back then. Still amazing today. Totally relevant today, who can say that today. Yes, Bruce Canepa will probably be on it. His reconditioning is Porsche backed in terms of tech. His cars are incredible ..
4:47 Man driving one of 337 Porsche 959's ever built passes a tent on a city sidewalk.
I’ve heard rumors that at the time the 959 actually had electronic capabilities that were on par with the space shuttle.
The 300SL Gullwing marked the birth of the Super Car.
The Porsche 959 marked the birth of the Hyper Car.
Im driving one of the most legendary sports cars ever built except im using my hands to talk and occasionally correcting the steering wheel.
Not a Porsche guy but sounds good. who knows you might sell me on one. Good luck. See you soon.
I find it kinda sad to see such car that wasn't driven the way it was designed for and stored. You can have an excellent example with mileage and history which is worth more imo.
If it's that rare keep your hands on the wheel
6:30 look at all those people ready to die.
I saw one of these in a private Porsche museum when i was catering 20+ years ago. It was like seeing a real life unicorn. At the time it was 1 of 3 street legal 959’s. The other 2 belonged to Jerry Seinfeld and bill gates.
3394km = low miles only not 1600miles but more 3394km divided by 1.6 makes 2121 miles instead of 1600miles but 2121 is still crazy low beautiful car.
The dentist office music to appeal to dentists to buy the car?
Shmee got me here
will the next 911 be all electric?
What's the difference between the 959 and the 959s?
No air con in Sport, it does not have the adjustable suspension and the seats are cloth.
Soooo why did that pic of the 928 look so weird? Looked a bit elongated.
Who is the seller? How much?
This car was built to be driven
Just the low mileage example, Bruce Canepa is looking to restomod😂
BTW......the 930/935 were the most iconic Porsches.....IMHO😎
