- We came out on top but the stress probably cost us a couple years of life. This is the tale of our first big-ticket car and the ensuing nightmare of importing the vehicle and converting to US-Spec that took an entire year.

EPA wanting an NA spec catalytic system installed, fair enough. Go to buy a used set, which is actually environmentally considerate. EPA says no, you need to waste more resources and buy new ones. Cool, love the logic.
buricratic red tape mate!!!
They just RULE what ever ppl who pay their salaries . Our Way or no other way. Bs . Umm hello u only have a job because us taxpayer's. And who are you hurting .. me lol they dont care about the environment. Even though thats their only purpose.
Yet the EPA is doing nothing to stop catalytic converter theft that is running rampant.
That's like Comiefornia. The massive problem they are having out there is cat theft. My friend has been through 4 cats on a 2018 Prius. Because CARB specifies that you can't do any universal cat, used, etc you have to install a OE spec cat as a replacement by a certified shop. Every single time he's had to do it, insurance has paid out about 4-5k. The OE Toyota cats are sky high expensive. This is just a plain Jane Toyota too, I can't imagine a super car etc.
You don’t want the used one to be modified so I can understand why it was a new one that would fit regulation.
Imagine going through all of that and the buyer ends up being in Europe already or wants the car shipped there immediately
Spoiler alert
Or the new owner loses the car to his wife in a divorce settlement! 👍😍👍
Imagine actually getting to the end of the video with out getting bored within a few seconds
@Macavity And your life
Thats kind of sad that the dude stored it to never see the light of day.
That's the sad part of the cars he carries (the cream of the crop). They're too nice, rare, and expensive to ever drive. That being said, I LOVE when he takes various cars for a ride around Miami.
@@adamluke1289 That why i admirer rowan atkinson. The man drove the crap out of his mclaren F1 and still sold it for a good chunk of change.
@@antmarquis87 crashed it, twice.
Why sad? The owner can do what he wants with HIS vehicles...plenty of other Enzos get driven by the scruff of their necks. Anyhow, how do you know he doesnt have a second Enzo that he does thrash? Or an FXX?
There’s like 15 super rare ones that are semi known to exist with crazy color schemes bought for a royal family but those never going to see light lol
Some of the highest quality car content on the highest quality supercars. I cant wait for this channel to blow up!
If you enjoy people smacking and waving their hands around like a person lost on a deserted island in the ocean.
Im having a HEART ATTACK just listening to your project story! Lol
The bs is spewing from his ears
Nah, this one is pretty boring to be honest.
I can never understand why the USA has been so difficult to import cars into especially around safety, I have seen some incredibley un-roadworthy cars driving round in the U.S, Look at those rat-rods with sharped metal parts like our friends in Vegas produce, I seen a car in Clearwater driving round with no wind shield...!!
It must be to protect domestic car production I assume..???
Here in UK with have MOT inspection every year .!!
Marcel Massini is the best. Great to hear the stories about deals that didn't work out perfectly. It can be an Enzo, it can be a Pista, it can an 80's Mondial, waiting for Ferrari parts is a common experience.
Last Enzo built* + all the other ones the Factory doesnt like to talk about, even when presented with a registry listing more than 399 VIN's :p
Marcel and Joe are indeed an amazing source of knowledge on Fchat!
But, there is, out there, somewhere, in the pile of "the last built enzos" is actually the last Enzo ever built
Basically this is the last enzo built that ferrari wants to tell you about
Yes, that’s true but collectors care about what is said on the paper
That's Italians for you
"This car will never see the light of day"
The perfect buyer for a Curated car, someone who sees these as art or something to squirrel away forever. very sad.
Isn't it terrible. Sadly that's why these people have the mindset and money to make these purchases. Just think "mine mine mine. It's all mine and only mine."
I saw that Pope Enzo in Tampa back in 2012when Don Wallace owned it. Sitting at the dealership with the boot open showing the signature. Was the first Enzo I had ever seen in person
@
I'm surprised they didn't allow Enzo #399 to be brought under show and display as they allowed the Pope Enzo to be imported this way
Pope Enzo is more influential then “just a Enzo”. If something was a Pope geo metro they would bring that in under show and display
@@richardstoffel6585 It depends, both could be considered just as important.
I love how candid you are about the game. Appreciate the insight! Cheers.
great story John! reminds me of Tom Cruise in Rain Man...when they can't get the Lamborghinis to pass EPA:)
"Now it's five and a half weeks and I'm still sitting on four Lamborghinis that can't meet spot emissions standards. Now, how many times you wash out with EPA?"
"$15k to $18k for an exhaust system - not that bad"...
BWAH HA HA!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Man, what a fantastic story! I really love this one.
You did it again! Awesome story. Thanks for sharing, John.
Love the content! Just found this channel a month ago and have watched every episode! Keep them coming!!
Love your videos and your passion about cars.
Most of all i like that u are not a sellout. No ads and stupid sponsors.
U are not doing YT for money, just sheering your passion.
Something we unfortunately dont see anymore in the automotive side of YT.
Respect 👊👊👊
Great story but the line “the car will never see the light of day again” is sad. If you want future car enthusiast to exist these cars and all the great cars out there must be seen. Love the story through.
I was fortunate enough to see an Enzo at the home of a customer of mine. The founder of Jimmy Johns. I could hardly believe what I was seeing. This was about 13 years ago. Much more fun to see one “in the wild”
@@Chad_Max I see you know of his girth. I was told he had to spend about 10k for a custom seat to fit his wide behind. No joke.
Love hearing these stories, thanks for sharing them!
Great story! Awesome to see how it all came together. Thank you for sharing.
This channel is so underrated. Love hearing the stories as I can relate to chasing flip cars.
John & Curated = amazing. I absolutely love your energy and optimism. ❤️
There is a lot to learn from this story.
Thank you for sharing John
Love these videos so much
Fantastic Channel!
Its sure to become a huge hit.
Well done.
As always John... another sensational story! Wonderful photos plus a bonus photo of F50 #001 lol. I don't know how you made it through that ordeal, I would have had a nervous breakdown. Stay Safe, Stay Well and my best to your Family!
❤🙏🙏🙏❤
Great story. I literally got the chills when you were explaining how excited the client felt after inspecting it.
Some may find these videos long-winded or overly wordy. I say, DOCTOR JOHN TEMERIAN. You are a master of your craft, Sir. You are bringing something very unique that no one else is doing. I appreciate the finesse and class. Super interesting stories. Keep em coming.
I wait all week for one of these videos they are amazing. Keep up the incredible work 😎
Another great video. Absolutely one of the best channels on RUclips
you’re honestly one of the most knowledgeable guy in the game that not only knows what’s going on with the cars but knows details about each cars history. i love this channel.
Always here for the amazing stories.
Great story and congratulations on staying the course!!
Fantastic story and it just shows you that persistence is the key to long term success. Well done 👍🏻👌🏻🙌🏻
Great story, John. Your passion and knowledge is inspiring.
I am not even into cars but I can’t stop listening this guy. Such a good story teller.
Fascinating me every time I see one of your videos!
Loved this story! What a car! Enjoy your success you deserve 💯
Love this story and the enthusiasm it is told in .. 👍
The Enzo sig is a pretty neat touch to that car. Love the story John. It is neat to hear on top of the original story.
Great video!!!
One thing that i respect about you is you dont sell out like every youtuber and give us bullshit advertising about shit we dont care about and you are a true car guru
your shoe game is fire and i love your channel bro
Awesome video. Thanks
John Temerian has the driest throat in the car industry.
🤣
He also has the longest t-shirts of anyone in the car industry.
It’s driving me nuts. Every time I know the smacking sounds is about to pop. Cringe 😬
@@read7641 it’s his shtick
You can tell when he starts talking about flying up to see the importer, who mysteriously doesn't want to see him, that he's a bullsh*t artist. The story makes no sense. John is a guy who just likes to hear himself talk and constantly embellishes these otherwise boring stories.
We love Curated and John Temerian!!
Awesome story, bravo 👏🏻
Really love your stories
More stories - epic and inspiring John
The best car stories narration ever!
Great story John!
Wow, awesome story. Told so well 👍
Love your content btw what kind of chair is that?
Good for you bro
Cool story, love your passion...
The intrigue of your cars is as exciting as the story of the history behind these cars. Great story. LoL
I love the mystery behind these "gentlemen" collectors! I get that discretion is paramount and respect it, but it's stories like these that adds to the mystique of the "gentleman" buyer possibly being the guy in your city who has a "cool car" or two. I love it!
That was your test for success and it so inspiring ❤
Hindsight is 20-20 my friend. From the sound of it you handled a stressful purchase very well and the car went to someone who will keep it safe. I realize that shouldn’t really matter if your in the business of selling cars but if you love these cars as I think you do, it’s worth something it’s in good hands. Curious, the factory European exhaust, gauge cluster etc. Do the allow you to keep that so it can be sold and recover some of your investment or how was that handled in the end? Interesting and educating story, I enjoyed watching.
It's crazy that you had to do so much to get the car imported and yet if it were registered as a Florida car, you could run straight pipes and do whatever you want to emissions
John has the greatest stories
Love the Enzo car and your last Enzo story, but wondering why the taillights had to be changed up...thanx
Please link the Enzo pictures. The look amazing wow.
Excited to store the car away... what a great car guy...
If a car is imported to USA under show and display and then ages pass the 25 year rule can the status change? Or is it like once it’s show and display it’s always that?
Why are you using a yellow key light? its very distracting.
I strongly suggest using color balanced key and fill lights for portrait or interview lighting, play with color on your contrast\hair lighting or background lighting. love the channel keep making that fabulous content thanks
Yeah John! What a fantastic story! Time for a product placement sponsor for Curated TV. San Pellegrino Sparkling Water! :)
#sanpellegrino
John’s got a spare F40 seat and a countach wing in his office…🤦♂️😃
Did Autosport Designs do the federalization and certification?
Did you get to keep the euro spec parts that they removed?
once it has been ruined into America
What an incredible story. You'd think this channel had a million subscribers, it's unreal.
I set out to replicate the Enzo down to the very last nut, bolt and washer which i believe i managed. For sure the closest i will ever come to owning a Ferrari Enzo !
I Envy you for just having the car for a short time 👍👍👍👍
well done!
One of the greatest car stories ever told wow.
Im pretty sure you cannot apply for show and display on a car that was sold in the US. That law was made for significant cars that were never sold in the US.
I just enjoy listening to your story’s , an the passion that just flows through you. Crazy how when your in the middle of any , when ya look back it’s like what was I worried about. Thanks for your real life feeling and worries,
In late 1991 I could have bought a 288GTO for $300,000 in Tokyo.
It seemed expensive at that time...
🤐😵💫
Imagine going through all the trouble only to find out there is actually way more then the 399 Ferrari sold everyone on.
I'm shocked that Enzo couldn't apply for Show and Display,.
Amazing story
I couldn’t stop watching him move his hands around so much, what was he talking about?
😂😂
Good thing you corrected “Division” to “Department”. No doubt there are at least a dozen trolls at any given moment waiting to correct you in the comments section of any and all RUclips videos! Lol. Keep up the great videos and interesting stories!!
That's why the house always wins! Great story!
I love the Enzo great story thx you
“This car will never see the light of day”
Collector car guy
It’s funny as hell but I’m also sadden by that. 😂😂😂😔😔😔
He'll understand when it's too late that he missed the chance to enjoy the car.
It's weird how few subscribers this channel has.
I love these stories, keep it up!
Ferrari are notorious for making considerably more cars than they claim. There are multiple stories of owners being given a tour of the factory and they would see limited run cars on the production run cars on the production line. A year after they ‘stopped’ production
ugh i hate collectors who dont even show them off! just put away and never seen again. smh
i like you bud, I live in Palm beach and I'm a Lambo and Ferrari fan. I have a RS5 V8 low mileage for now, will trade up soon. So I might see you soon. Take care. I enjoy your videos.
The dude that bought it is everything that's wrong with car culture.. Buys everything and ruins the market for young people. Not that a young guy buys an Enzo, but this trickles down the car "levels". They just keep the 'because'...
Did you ever think to bring yours to RM for an auction?
So what if its the last one off the production line. Why does that matter? Does it make it perform better?
So how many where actually made cause vinwiki had mentioned that they did produce more than they claim to have
I know that these rare cars need to be preserved but it's a damned shame when someone buys a car and starts out by saying it'll never see the light of day again. What a shame that these amazing pieces of art and machinery are never driven and seen by people who appreciate them for what they are when they're stashed away in a warehouse somewhere.
If you were to tie John’s hands to his side... he would become mute 🤐
It's a shame these supercars end on a plush warehouse, a museum or whatever. These were designed and built to be driven, some of them to be raced. Certainly very expensive and maintenance wise very needy. EPA and DOT a pain in the butt.
You see this guy? He’s Number one major significant guy
If you replace (or in case of the cat machine out & add new metal with laser) the number on it, some "nice tip" to the certified shop, nobody will notice...
After all, all they need is "boxes checked" that's the mentality of bureaucrats.
Bruce Canepa too on the 959
